Can’t deny that Hannibal had a series of lucky breaks to just make it out alive from Italy and that Scipio’s shockingly bad battle performance is one for the history books. But clearly it was a tense game that could have gone either way through to the final card cliffhanger. Thanks for the game, and I’ll send Jeff the report this evening. |

Province count is 9-9, with ties to Carthage. Given the considerable assist from my bad luck, I'm shocked that the count is so close. It should have been a blowout. Hannibal got just about every break possible, even winning a R16 vs. C9 battle. Only serious problem Carthage had was their naval rolls, but Hannibal was never sunk, only returned to port to try again. In spite of that, Hannibal was harassed throughout Italy and generally ineffective. I'm sure that may sound like sour grapes, but this game leaves a bad taste in my mouth, much like our prior meeting. |
