Chris, CF is not getting zapped, it’s just getting an AZOI placed over it from Pusan. Tokyo is falling, and a CV there puts the rest of Japan under AZOI. My problem is trying to understand what all this represents. There could literally be 4 carriers, and two regiments ending the war. Also, those 4 carriers pulled up next to Japan at the beginning of the move and turned off all JP AZOI’s to allow slow transports to steam with impunity all the way to Tokyo. |

It is a good point, but this seems to make the JP incredibly fragile if their Comb Fleet HQ falls. Maybe that is sort of the point. I've conceded at this point, this is just an edge case discussion. |

JP HQs in the Home Islands are always in supply, because all of the home island ports are ultimate supply sources (6.22). Per 6.15, An HQ that returns to play as a reinforcement can be placed in any friendly controlled port where it would be in supply. So, pretty much, the JP can return the HQ to a home island port, regardless of AZOI coverage. From there, I can put replacements in THAT hex because the hex and port are in supply. But I think a 9-12 army, a half str carrier and 8-10 fighter against your fleet with all of your reinforcements is just silly. You'll knock them out in AR1 and everything returns to OOS. I can't get anyone back to the islands to be able to react. And after 3 turns, you'll win automatically. If there was a path where I might be able to get units back... maybe... but it's really remote. More or less, I'd have to sacrifice this entire turn to put a single card in FO and play that next turn simply to get units back to Japan... But you will literally have 7 card plays of no reaction to decimate anything of value and position yourself to take the reaction out. It's pointless. I knew it was time to pull back, but just didn't think it would collapse that quick. I think I was just a card behind in being able to take down your two HQs which really would have made things terrible for you. I noticed it too late and just didn't have things in place to execute in time. My only hope was that I might have taken out DEI and maybe stopped a Progress of War. But it was a long shot once you put down those Army Corps on your HQs. It was a fun game! Well played. I'll get it recorded and you'll get to advance. |

Damn... I knew it was time to pull back to the home islands, but didn't think I was that exposed. Yeah, that's pretty much it. Well done sir. I think i can reopen supply to everyone with the Combined Fleet in Hakodate and plunk down my reinforcements there, but your magic eraser fleets are about to come fully online now and you'll just keep knocking me down for the next three turns. It's up to you, I'm willing to call it here, but if you want to play out anything I'm open to pushing pieces around. |
