And since it's bocage, the first casualty is ignored, so it would have been only 2 CPs.

As to your earlier question, there is no AV. Resignations are permitted.
Note that your attack on Troarn hit an area with low defense value. The problem is that that also means you then have low defense in response to counter-attacks and bombardments. And remember, next turn is cloudy, so my attacks won't be penalized with a -2 drm.

Let me press on with the attack into A33 based on this additional information

However, that's not the end of the assault. You can move across an enemy-held bridge. If the other space is undefended, you just capture it. Otherwise, it affects the DV of the defending space. Take a look at Case C on the DV chart. Attacking in to Isigny without capturing the bridge first will result in a +3 to DV due to Case C -- enemy held bridge, flooded boundary, crossing bridge for mandatory assault.
Total DV is 3 +1 for terrain, +3 for Case C = 7. If you captured the bridge first, it would be 5 instead.
Also, if you do not fail the attack roll, you then own the bridge. [attack from all 3 units in grandcamp would be 9:7. If you roll anything above a -2 net difference, you get the bridge.
Same general principle applies at St. Mere. The defense is 8 unless you grab the bridge first.

Under the AH rules, air bombardments do not advance the impulse track. Under the L2 rules that we're using, naval bombardments don't either. That means these are free impulses that don't move the impulse track. And if used early, there's no risk of changing the weather.

Another note. The next day is going to be cloudy. Something to be think about as the -2 penalty for my attacks is gone. And my movement is up one.

Also, it costs 1 extra for adjacent areas (or 2 extra for 2 away, etc). So at Gold, it will cost you 3 for the units in Gold, and 6 for the units in Bretteville, for a total of 9, not 6.
Omaha. Don't refit the rangers, they're gone now that Omaha is cleared.
Note that depots don't have to go in the beach hexes. You can place the Gold one in Bretteville, although it doesn't change the cost. Or one in Omaha and one in Grandcamp. That's how you reduce the distance penalty.

One more: Do your air supply first. You still have a +3 in a free area.
Omaha depots are worth 9 each, not 8.

And I really can't figure out how you get enough supply to buy 3 impulses.
You start with 8
Use all of the depot value at Juno, Gold and Utah.
Save 5 at Omaha (if you place 1 depot in Granville)
and Save 9 at Sword (by placing depot in Merville).
That leaves a total of 14 plus the original 8 for 22.
Buying 2 impulse (back to 0) will leave you with 2 in reserve.

That means no bridge rolls. Had 50/xx remained in Gold to bombard, you would have an overrun.

50/xx can move, but it doesn't contribute to the attack strength, which is 8. You could fire the 50/xx in support (raising the attack strength to 9, but it has to stay in Gold to do that).
Defense strength is 4, not 3. 2 for unit, 1 for area, 1 for assault over bridge.

No change to the outcome. Still an overrun. Armor has 2 MF left. Infantry has 1

I don't really understand the game well enough yet to form any kind of long term plan. I just open the file, look at the map, and do whatever seems good at the time.

167 10/21/2023 1:38:00 PM Turn 1 George Young Message The advantage is a security blanket for whoever has it. Protection against a bad roll. Some value to keeping it, but again, hard to judge. I've seen games where it is barely used and others where it bounces back and forth a bit.

As to the wisdom of it, hard to say. That artillery strike wrecked a lot of the Omaha force for 2 turns. You do get the 2 ID there next turn, but the force in the middle really isn't scaring me. So that might call for a reroll. Also depends upon what else you have planned. Brits haven't done anything yet and we're already at impulse 5 (where odds of day end or clouds start getting better).
