Good game, very close to having a shot to win it all there. I think my interpretation is correct as I explain in my message 305, but interested to hear what you find out on CSW. Let me know when you do. Good luck with the baseball draft. |

I have no match, so it's a Carthaginian Victory. Even Africanus was going to need better luck. It was my best shot but I was probably going to need to pre-empt with a Campaign next turn to pull it off. I still don't understand how a Subordinate would need to be somehow activated to do a siege roll as per 20.2. It will take me a bit of time to study, as I have urgent tax work as well as an impending Stratomatic Baseball Draft. I will post the question on CSW when ready. thanks, Randy |

Yes looking at Message #281 The Auxiliaries Event brought the total to 29 in Italia, and there should be only 19 remaining. So, as your suggestion make it: Falerii ET: Nero +17 Firmun Picenum SA: 2 alone |
312 | 2/14/2024 11:18:00 AM | 209-207 BC | Carthage | Message |
No problem but I had you with 19 total CU left in Italy not 21. Per message 292 you have 10 in Firmum not 12. And then per messages 296-298, you had 4 loose in Falerii and 5 loose in Faesulae. So you can make the same move you describe with 17 in Falerii and 2 in Firmum but none in Faesulae. |

Sorry, my map is a mess with overwriting Nero ends with +17 In Falerii ET not Faesulae ET There are 2 each left in Faesulae and Firmum Picenum SA |

It will not matter. I will activate Marcellus +Africanus +10 as you suggest and roll for the Siege. I will explain my interpretation later. I assume you would have played an Interrupt and may yet do so. |
305 | 2/13/2024 2:14:00 PM | 209-207 BC | Carthage | Message |
Not sure I follow that. If you activate Scipio with the Campaign and take Marcellus with you, Scipio is the activated general and he is in command of the army. Only an activated general may make a siege attempt per 20.1.2 and 20.1.4. A subordinate can be activated to make a siege attempt while not taking command of the army as a whole, but you still need to play a card to activate him. If you activate Marcellus with the Campaign and take Scipio with you, then Marcellus is the activated general and he is in command of the army and he can use the Special Ability. |
304 | 2/12/2024 7:50:00 PM | 209-207 BC | Rome | Message |
Yes Africanus is the Active General, and Marcellus as subordinate will use his special ability as per 20.2 If you read 20.2 differently I could activate Marcellus himself and make Africanus subordinate but tactically it leaves Africanus in command in case an odd Interception or Avoid die roll is required. I still have another General to Activate with the Campaign. |
