Okay, proceeding. You have AJ, JJ and Bragg n4 in Grand Jct. Remember that with a corps move, only two leaders can move out of the space in one move. |
77 | 3/27/2024 8:07:00 PM | Fall 1861 | Confederate | Message |
So I could take AJ as leader in Nashville, drag Bragg and 2 down to Grand Junction, n4 If so that is what I wish to de please. |
76 | 3/20/2024 4:51:00 PM | Fall 1861 | Union | Message |
Tim, Sorry for the delay - busy couple of days! There are actually a couple of problems with your move. 1) You can't leave AJ in Nashville without any troops or fort (he could stay alone in a fort). See 5.34. If you do activate Bragg, you can't take AJ with you unless you first move back out of Nashville and then back in to pick him up (5.32). AJ could leave Nashville with both SPs and Bragg since he has a higher political rating. 2) Per 6.25, you can't cross a river anywhere that I have naval control, which means you can't cross any blue lines since the fort in New Orleans by itself doesn't deny any naval control (although I would have to "Run the Guns" if I sailed through New Orleans). You can move from Nashville to Franklin and then on to Dover since the connection line doesn't go over the river. However, you cannot move from Dover to either McKenzie or Paducah due to the blue line. Losing the forts in Columbus KY and Dover is a big pain for the CSA, because now you have to go around via Decatur, Tuscumbia and Corinth (Pittsburg Landing is also blocked). Make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions, but you'll have to redo your move. Feel free to use a different card if desired. |

>>If JJ enters Memphis from Grand Jet, does that help my supply situation at all? Can he even Enter? Could he cross into Madison? river rules have me completely stumped JJ can enter Memphis, but that does not help your supply situation at least immediately. Important rules: 8.2: Ultimate supply source for the Confederacy are undestroyed resource spaces and open blockade ports, but to be valid the source must have a LOC to another supply source. Until my move to Shreveport, Marshall TX and Little Rock AR had an LOC, so both were supply sources. Therefore, Polk in Marshall was in supply. 6.61 covers Union naval control. Union Naval control comes from the north along rivers (double blue lines) or from the sea unless blocked by a CSA fort. Your only fort on the Mississippi is at New Orleans, so my naval control goes all the way from Alton IL to Baton Rouge, including up to Shreveport and Little Rock. Your LOC cannot cross a river (Solid blue line on edge of space, like at Memphis) when I have naval control. 6.25 covers Confederate ability to cross rivers. You can cross where I don't have naval control and where there is not a Union fort. To cross from Memphis into Madison, you either need a fort in Memphis (allowing you to cross) or forts both upstream and downstream (like New Orleans and Columbus KY), which would block Union naval control. Price was OOS before my move, because his LOS couldn't cross either the Mississippi or the Arkansas River into Little Rock because of my naval control. In summary, the west is isolated until you can build a fort in Columbus (to block naval control) or in Memphis or Vicksburg. However, you have to control the space to build a fort. For Memphis, that means you would have to first move in, then control the space, then build a fort. You could immediately build a fort in Vicksburg with a 3-ops card, and if you did I could not cross from Monroe. However, if it was empty I could capture it by moving into it by land from Jackson, or amphibiously assaulting it with 2 or more SPs. Let me know if you have any other questions! |

#14: 3 / Red River Campaign May not be discarded by the Union. Union must use this card as an OC. If at the conclusion of movement, a Union SP is not on or adjacent to Grand Ecore, LA, then the Union loses 5 SW points. If a Union SP is in one of the objective spaces then a Union PC marker can immediately be placed to convert the space or spaces. Remove from deck if Union plays card. Hi Tim - looking forward to a fun and challenging game! No problem exchanging files if that helps you. I haven't ever done that using Discord, but have using Dropbox. Or we can just exchange via email. If you want to use discord, you'll just have to walk me through the process. I'll draw cards and we can begin - let me know if you want to start with a campaign (which I have never seen on turn 1). |

Hi Dan, Nice to meet you. Here is to a good game. I prefer to exchange files as I tend to screw things up on my end somehow, but will endeavour to bear down if you prefer to not exchange them. I find Discord to be a very easy and useful tool for said file exchanges. I am pretty much a newbie to the game. I have like 3-4 games starts which never got anywhere. Tim |
