266 7/12/2024 5:09:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message And I dont mean to take anything from you. You played really well using those resources given and getting a breakthrough where I couldnt block it.
265 7/12/2024 5:03:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message >> in clear lead probably It would have been wise the create another crappy army just to hedge that tail risk.

Problem is, I wasnt in the lead. OH-route was open both through Parkersburg and Pitts. DC region was far from secure as you could mass more SPs than me there momentarily. You could just brute force your way in through Strasburg-HF or just Manassas-Frederick. Or just take the Northern route through Pittsburgh into PA.

And with all that, I needed to keep you from doing extra raid with those OH and PA spaces already converted. You would have probably won with just those 2x concentration cards really. In that situation to start forming a second army with 2 card-plays minimum to just block something like 10% chance of drawing FTR while letting every other big problem grow bigger is bit stupid.

And then anyhow to have the whole super-tense board-situation fall flat thanks to one freaking card is just ass. Probably will be my last tournament game for a couple of years at least. Will just skip the bronze match.
264 7/12/2024 4:49:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message FTR is one the most single thing that changes totally the game for USA so yeah, with your position in clear lead probably It would have been wise the create another crappy army just to hedge that tail risk.
And after all Richmond falling is not that bad. I lost my last final trying to take the capital and it was a big mistake and it has proven again to be not a super big advantage, just temporary SW relief, but the big problem is always having to deal with two big CSA armies fully stacked with 10+ SP and all the generals.
A discarder it's so painful in that situation.
Anyway it's always a pleasure to play with you and learn new things
263 7/12/2024 4:39:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message >> YOLO move with 50% only
Wasnt that yolo as DC would have been empty anyhow and with AoW in Frederick I would have needed a 6 for interception from you to prevent it from falling.
262 7/12/2024 3:22:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Yes without FTR it would have been impossible to win and I did a YOLO move with 50% only plus intercepting and winning in Manassas.

You are a clearly better player than me so I had to take big risks and I also made some mistakes like not taking KY, leaving that stupid cav behind and losing Richmond so early
261 7/12/2024 2:36:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message Well thats that. No way to prevent it after DC fell. Congrats and you can inform Stephane!

Lamest of the lame way to lose and I'll guess I would have just needed to use 2 cards minimum to form that useless second army to die in a useless way. Way to go.
260 7/12/2024 2:29:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). Union places or flips three PC markers in Missouri. The spaces may not contain Confederate SPs or forts.

185 7/8/2024 3:55:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message At least in a one other thread on some other topic, the rule-librarian Ty wrote this:
"There are a few rare situations where a Political Control marker is removed from under a fort creating the situation where a fort is in an enemy controlled space. This situation has no impact on the ability of the fort to remain in a space once built"
184 7/8/2024 3:40:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message But then it could be a fort in one of my spaces. I think the wording of the card is pretty bad. Let's put a question on BGG, I won't make a move anyway till this evening. Then if none answered we decide on our own, but I am inclined that it doesn't remove the forts
183 7/8/2024 3:36:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message Dont think it eliminates the forts.
182 7/8/2024 2:55:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #15: 1 / Mosby's Raiders
Confederate can remove two Union PC Markers in Virginia within 2 spaces of Winchester, VA. The spaces may contain Union generals, SPs or forts.

Message from Confederate:
Not sure if it eliminates the forts in Strasburg and Harpers Ferry

Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if they were led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

I am quite sure you can never leave a general without a SP

178 7/7/2024 2:28:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Well far from optimal moves during this campaign but can't get it just right all the time.

I play as if assuming that leaving any inactive generals even momentarily without SPs is forbidden which I think is how it was intented to be.

2nd: Activate Pope in Bloomington with 5SP (1)
1 - Vernon
2 - Cincinnati, pick 1SP and Butler
3 - Vernon
4 - Bloomington
5 - attack Louisville 6v2. Auto 2-1 at least. Pope n5

Drop 2SP in Louisville
6 - Bloomington
7 - Vernon
8 - Cincinnati and halt with 3SP and Butler
177 7/7/2024 2:08:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Started thinking if I have to hazzle around a bit after all. Do you think its legal to momentarily leave Burnside and Curtis in Bloomington without SPs?

First in the rules it says:
"5.34 CORPS ORGANIZATIONAL RESTRICTIONS: An
inactive general may never be left with no SPs at any time"

And then a bit later:
"During the course of a strategy
round these criteria may be and often are violated, just as long
as they have been satisfied at the end of the strategy round."

So what do you think, can I momentarily leave Burns and Curtis alone in Bloomington?

Or maybe its just more clear if I dont even momentarily hoh

So stupid not taking KY last turn. I just needed another SP instead of that Cav. Shame on me. That's the difference between a great player like you and an average like me. So much to learn

Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.
