I have the original first edition of Hammer of the Scots. They must have changed Scottish Fraser from C2 to C3. Let’s go with C3. English Angus is eliminated and immediately switches to Scottish Angus at 1 strength, rule 5.7. Does Scottish Angus regroup or remain in Angus (5.6)? |

Regarding Post 41. My Frasier unit Is labeled as C3 not C2. At least the sticker on my block is so I do believe I score three hits during that combat. |

English Angus takes 1 hit, now at 2 strength. Both Scottish Moray and Scottish Fraser score hits when they roll 1 or 2. This is based on their Combat Rating of B2 and C2, see bottom right column on page 2 and rule 2.12. English Angus at 2 strength retreats to Mar. Do your two units in Angus regroup, 5.6? |

Since I did not catch this in the Carrick battle, I will apply this same rules mistake for this entire battle in all rounds in Angus. So, I will score hits on rolls of 1’s and 2’s. From here on out, let’s apply the correct rule, page 2 right hand sidebar. |

Your 2 units that moved from Fife to Atholl must stop in Atholl and cannot move to Lennox. Units crossing a red border must stop, 4.3. Would you like to redo your Move Phase? |

Very interesting. In that case I will activate Fife and move 2 blocks to Atholl then Lennox. The other 3 blocks in Fife Will move to Mentieth. I will use my last activation to move 1 block in Strathspey to Moray then Lochaber. |

Good question. The rules and example in the rules are not very clear. Here is what I found on Boardgamegeek: Say you play a card of 1. You can move one group. You have Wallace, MacDonald, and Bruce in providence X. Providence X is surrounded by Providences A, B, and C. Your movement card allows you to move this one and only group. Can you move Wallace to A, MacDonald to B, and Bruce to C? Can you split up this ONE group and essentially move into THREE neighboring providences? ANSWER: Most definitely. Blocks in a group do NOT have to move to the same location. It all counts as 1 Move action, as long as they all start in the same region. Per rules (2.2 Version): "A player may move any number of blocks in a Group to one or more areas within their move rating." |

Can I use my card to activate the same space twice and break my blocks into two groups with two different movement destinations? Can't find it in the rules but I might just be blind. |

I rolled for sides in our Paths of Glory game. You are the Scots in the Braveheart scenario. If you want to play a specific side or a different scenario, let me know. I randomly placed 4 red blocks in England by rolling a 20 sided die at home. As I previously mentioned, Hammer of the Scots on ACTS (alone with no other aids, eg Vassal) requires the honor system. I have not played Hammer of the Scots in many years, so if you believe I have made a rules mistake, please speak up to help me relearn the game. I have rules versions 1.00 and 2.3. I believe the Columbia Games website has a more recent updated rules than 2.3. Let me know which rules version you will be using. Good luck! |
