OK, here is a reply from Mark Herman on Consim World to a similar question about activating a General without any SP's-- "Ok, In no particular order. The general activates and begins moving. His movement allowance is that of a Corps, not a general moving alone, and he counts every space he moves through. All prohibitions for a general moving without SPs apply and he can be intercepted (he's a corps) which would remove him to the Gt record track since he has no forces. While he is moving the general can pick up and drop off forces normally to the limits of his movement. At some point in his move he must link up with at least one SP or he is in violation of the Corps organization rule 5.34, and is removed from play." https://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?14@@.ee6c9ab/4539 |

5.13 references a Calvary Brigade moving alone, but not a General moving alone. 5.66 refers to Generals moving alone, but is clearly a follow up to 5.65 Reorganization. It also occurs to me that Longstreet cannot cross at New Madrid because of Union naval control on the Mississippi north of Memphis, so it is a full 10 spaces to Rolla via Fayetteville. |
168 | 10/29/2024 8:10:00 PM | Summer 1862 | Union | Message |
I've never encountered this situation before. Under a 5.65 Reorganization move, Generals can move 10 spaces without rail. However, you played a Minor Campaign event, not an Ops Card. You certainly can't move several generals all over the map with the second campaign action, why should moving one like a Reorganization move be permitted? |
