Thanks for the game, it was very fun! I agree there is no hope; I was lucky this turn to have a lot of Mil cards (I still have in my hand) which made life easy. But I was so much ahead of time that I believe I would move on to conquer Japan in the next turns in any case. I believe leaving DEI unconquered is very dangerous. As for the non-historical hand, I have now started my ladder game as JP with a terrible but very interesting hand, vs already played ABDA. So much more fun to try to do whatever I can with a strange hand! And now, at the middle of T3, I have achieved some things, failed to do some others, and I feel I have about even chances for the game. So no more historical hand for me! * 3407 (Kure): [6 AD] is eliminated I think that probably does me in for the blockade. Even if I had reacted out with 6 AD and PBMed to Sasebo or Kure you could have killed at will on the next card. I might be able to retake Seoul if I had left an activation path with this PBM to Pusan, but you have more than enough ASPs to take either Pusan or Seoul back on the last card with no possible response. If you think I'm missing something, let me know, but I think that probably the concession point. I had incredibly long odds you didn't have any strong offensives this turn, but that didn't turn out. In hindsight, needed to commit stronger to the China strategy. There should have been an OC offensive on turn 3 and/or 5. I also think this further shows how bad an un-neutralized ABDA is. The best defense path for JP for DEI is it to be completely out of range of AP amphibious forces for as long as possible, and you can't do that if ABDA is in supply. With ABDA in supply, JP has to waste a bunch of resources just holding what they have in DEI. From a historical hand perspective, I got a pretty strong opening hand, especially for a China play. I still think that for truly competitive play (tournament) I wouldn't accept ABDA starting in play without getting the historical hand. On the other hand, the opening play has become very standardized as there's a set of requirements that take up basically all but one of Kondo's activations depending on ENM.
