Thanks, it was a tough game. However I'm afraid Paulus was not entitled to a Siege Roll in Message #546. In 10.2.7 Movement: "... an Army may never conduct a Land Battle and then a Siege..." Also, 20.1.2 Siege: "Any activated General that ends his move...and has not battled may conduct one siege..." 10.11 notes how a Campaign Card can be used for one General to battle but then a "different General" to conduct a Siege. So you could have used the Campaign Card and Battled with Africanus. Winning the Battle as you did (even with the Ally Deserts) would have allowed Paulus to move by Sea and roll the 1st Siege Roll. Then Africanus could have used Iberians for 1 Siege Roll and then his Force March Special Ability for 2 more Siege rolls. I feared your last Card may have been Treachery or another Force March, either of which would have given 2 Rolls. Of course you would have needed 3 Successes, all with a -1, and the 3 you did roll only succeeded once. |
