Here's the Messenger Intercepted rule we'll be using.

WBC.1 OPTIONAL Messenger Intercepted. As a game balancing mechanism in tournament play, players may agree to use this optional rule.

a) Whenever the Messenger Intercepted card is played as an event (play as a 3-card is unaffected), the person playing the card rolls one six-sided die and modifies the result by adding a number equal to the current turn number of the game (i.e. 9 on the last turn of the game; 1 on the first turn). If the modified die roll result is 10 or lower, the event occurs normally. If the result is 11 or higher, then the event card is discarded with no effect.

b) Example: Karsten is desperate in his comeback bid to beat Dave, so he decides to use the event on Turn 9. He must roll a 1 for the event to occur; on a 2-6 the modified result is above 10, making the card ineffective.

As a game balancing mechanism in tournament play, players may agree to use this optional rule. a) Whenever the Messenger Intercepted card is played as an event (play as a 3-card is unaffected), the person playing the card rolls one six-sided die and modifies the result by adding a number equal to the current turn number of the game (i.e. 9 on the last turn of the game; 1 on the first turn). If the modified die roll result is 10 or lower, the event occurs normally. If the result is 11 or higher, then the event card is discarded with no effect. b) Example: Karsten is desperate in his comeback bid to beat Dave, so he decides to use the event on Turn 9. He must roll a 1 for the event to occur; on a 2-6 the modified result is above 10, making the card ineffective.
