Son of a Gun! There are only three Weather cards in the Japanese deck and only one of them allows a replacement card to be drawn. I could have sworn there were four of them. Perhaps when Mark updated the game to make the Weather cards "Removed from Play" when used as the event he removed on of them. I learn something new each time I play this game. And yes, there have been times as the allied player when I really, really needed a 3OP card to reach my target and there were none to be found in my hand. My Japanese play needs some work. I had some nice cards early but failed to advance and take Rangoon. I set up to attack it later, but my cards at that time did not allow a strong enough attack, so I pulled back to save the ground steps. After the battle of Midway where four allied carrier steps were sunk and the last remaining carrier lost to a submarine attack I knew I was committed to the long game. It was simply a matter of keeping the USA at arms length from the home islands and loading it up with ground units. The B29 bombing failure on turn 9 make my planning simple. |

Thanks Chris, it was a real nail biter. I had to look up rule 13.94 to be sure, but since no allied control marker was placed in Nagoya, the inherent garrison is still there. The allied ISR really hurt, as it becomes difficult to get the big army units into play on Honshu. |

I desperately needed a low roll and didn't get it. With that, I think I'm out of activations to make this happen. I have one card that is restricted to Commonwealth and one that gives me six activations, and without Nagoya I can't get any more units into Japan. I'll have to concede with two cards remaining. If a unit had survived, it was still at least possible, if incredibly unlikely. Really enjoyed the game. Rusty on the AP side and made some critical mistakes in the mid game that left the Navy underpowered and you with too much residual strength for me to overcome. Some wild dice rolls throughout kept it exciting. |

I 'might' have been able to hold on through turn 12, but I have found that the US army units usually just roll through Japan once the ground units have been bombed out of existence.
