all i remember from this game is the incredible bad luck for you.... holding at El Agheila was a miracle..allowing me to eventually get to play Hercules (still my favorite card) i need a month off at least...will let you know... hope we can play again...you are by far the best plater in this game...! |

Operation Strangle appeared before P51 as well, that was another factor in not going for France. FYI: Defending Marseilles is not necessary with a Beachhead on A or B as the Free French cannot enter and I =think the invasion there cannot be played unless all units can enter. I think that invasion was already in the discard pile anyway as was Shingle. |

Another game concluded. FDR Declaring War late did not work out well for me. Many card draw timings were bad for me, especially getting all the US Reinforcements in Total War right away before the invasion of Italy or an invasion was possible in France. Industrial Evacuation was late as well in the early game. By the time Overlord was drawn, Norway was really the primary option since there were not enough units left to go for France. I held you well in the Soviet Union, but you held Africa incredibly long. You went with the Speer/SSPZ6/PZ5 path which neither of us employ very often. Your defense at Mareth was effective since the BR8 was buried in the Total War deck. While a final stand at Tunis can hold out long with direct SR, the PZAA cannot be rebuilt there. Also, when Tunis is the last holdout, the invasion units are in full supply back to Cairo allowing allied attacks on Tunis to be cheaper in OPs. I had to burn a lot of OPs attacking Mareth repeatedly. Choosing Lend-Lease over BR8 for an initial Total War card seems by far the more important choice. Unfortunately, Lend-Lease and BR8 were both at the bottom of the deck before the Total War reshuffle. I should have played Lend-Lease earlier since I delayed the FDR event instead of hoping it wouldn't be at the bottom of the deck with BR8. While the card timing was frustrating it was still a fun game trying to crack you African defense. The was the most American armies I've seen appear in Africa. |
