384 1/17/2017 5:11:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Good game.

I feel I I made a couple significant misplays early on in the game (leaving Dover open being the most significant major error), that left me digging out of a hole and sapping my momentum in the turns I really needed it.

And of course you played excellently and kept me too much on the defensive after I botched that turn Dover fell.

Despite some good card draws early-mid game with reinforcements, the last few turns card luck dried up when I needed stronger hands to try to make anything happen. Thanks for the game.

383 1/16/2017 4:21:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message OK, Chris. Good game.

352 1/10/2017 8:17:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message Yep, you definitely had me scared. After basically locking up Texas, I proceeded to screw it up by leaving the AoM with only 5 SP and OOS. Trying to be too cute. I should have just PCd Ft PJ, and then sent the AoM across the river to take out Texas. You played it perfectly, giving yourself a very good shot at holding the state and destroying the AoM. I didn't mind the latter, but not taking Texas would have been very frustrating. But I got lucky - plain and simple.
351 1/10/2017 7:59:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #116: 2 / Confederate River Flotilla
Roll the die, if the result is greater than the Union Amphibious Assault modifier, reduce the Union Amphibious Assault modifier by one, other wise no effect. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Was a longshot, but a failed intercept roll there would have caused Sherman some problems I think. :) Came close in Jackson too, if only had rolled > 2 and won might have been different.

Looking pretty grim for the CSA now, CSA SW will go for this turn:

37 - 1 (fort PJ), -7 (TX) -1 marshal = 28, then 2 zones (at least, if not more) for 3 more turns = -4 * 3 and -5 war weariness is another -17, brings it to 9. Getting 9 SW in the remaining final 21 card plays seems well within reach...

Activate AOT, drop 1 in vicksburg, monroe, drop 1 in shreveport, camden, little rock, drop 1 (n2), end in camden w/2.

Confederate gains 5 SW points. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:

Assume that placement was from a union reinforcement card - you didn't play the card with it....

303 12/21/2016 9:05:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Message Hi Chris. You've played extremely well: you have lost no CSA states, you have a lot of SPs on the board, your reinforcement rate is still very high and have largely stymied all my attempts to attack. That said, yes I agree that your lack of raids puts you in a very precarious position. That EP was big for me. But until I actually manage to start taking out states or additional blockade runner zones, you will be able to continue to oppose me with big armies. So, while I like my chances right now better than yours, it's definitely still a game. In fact, this is my favorite part of the game, where it feels more like the historical Civil War. Most games don't get to this point, which is a shame.
302 12/20/2016 3:16:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #66: 1 / Wilson's Creek
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if they were led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

Message from Confederate:
Sorry for the delay.

Lose 3 sp with AOT (n6).

Activate AOT, drop Price in Atlanta, end in Kingstown.

Don't have a good feel for if I'm in a losing position at this point. Next turn or two will tell, but having only got one raid off and 47 SW seems low for needing to hold out the last 4 turns of being hammered by the union.
301 12/17/2016 1:28:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Play Strategy card as Event #81: 3 / Emancipation Proclamation - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player must play this card as an EC on the Strategy Round immediately following a Union large or medium battle victory. Confederate loses 10 SW and 3 SPs (his choice). Union loses 5 SW. Flip GT marker to its Emancipation Proclamation side. Card must be the last one played by a player at which time it can be played as an OC card. If the play of this card as an OC results in a battle victory, there is no Emancipation Proclamation Remove from deck if event is played. If this card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at the end of the Strategy Phase.

Message from Union:
Overrunning the fort at Columbus allows me to play this as an event:

300 12/16/2016 11:37:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #59: 2 / Farragut
Union may make a naval more with up to three SPs plus one general. Move may pass one ungarrisoned fort without “running the guns” to conduct an amphibious assault (may not pass an ironclad). Ignore first torpedo encountered during naval move. If the port space is captured it immediately receives a Union PC marker. Add +2 to Running the Guns die roll.

296 12/11/2016 2:29:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Message Hi Chris. Minor point: you had only 1 SP at Columbus, so my losses are limited to 2, even though you rolled a 3. So Pope ends with 5 SP vice 4.

The Union player may remove or demote one Union general for no SW cost. The cost for promoting a general with a lower political value still applies. OR remove ANY Union non-commanding general (even second in commands) from the game.
