It reads slightly differently

So if you are facing Ceasar and you Ambush, there is one die roll with a 50-50 chance he will nullify the ambush.

you never roll for each attacking unit - you count the losses you inflict then the defender rolls for eligible units that he want to risk to fulfill those losses.

E.g. in a normal battle you inflict 3 losses against 2 Aux, 2 legion, Ceasar

Roman could take the 2 Aux and roll for 1 legion, or start rolling for the legions and hope they soak up multiple casualties. I.e. a legion could roll multiple times, and absorb multiple hits, if they keep rolling. They only get the benefit if Ceasar is in the area.

Roman has to lose all 3 pieces, no die roll for the Fort

So, I assumed roll for each attacker. Otherwise what is the point of Ambushing?

Then halving the losses because of the Fort.

I think they are in Mandubii but must be counting as Seqani as there should be no control there. if you move them away from the border the control adjusts correctly

Maybe leave a couple of WB to cover your allies in areas adjacent to roman areas so he can't scout and battle, but get as many in there as you can. He can't retreat if you ambush and the fort doesn't help. Caesar has a 50-50 shot of nullifying part of the ambush but you can still do a massive amount of damage and if lucky you could wipe them all out... it's a once in a game opportunity!

Roman: Subdued, Dispersed and allied tribes is at 15.
If a non-roman ally is placed on a subdued tribe does if still count for Roman victory?
Is there a way to get rid of Dispersed counters?

Arverni-I have to have at least 9 allies/citadels and have 7 or more off map legions. That is pretty straight forward

Aedui-Have to have more allies and citadels than each other faction. Again straight forward

Belgae-Their allies and citadels plus controlled tribes (regardless of other allies) is 15.

So, we all want to build allies. Rome wants to keep tribes dispersed/subdued. Arverni wants to kill Legions, Aedui just wants to build more allies and finally Belgae wants to take tribes and they do not care about other allies.

Does that sum it up?

One last question (since I am up first on the next card and just reading the event trying to figure out how it all ties together): What is the point on senate uproar?

Sorry for the length of this post. I am re-reading the rules, trying to figure how this all ties together.

As an aside, played a Live ASL session on VASL last night. I love the die roll stat break downs. During the session (who knows how many rolls), by average roll was 7.58! Burnie's was 6.44. Needless to say, I got my ass kicked in the session. Ugly SMILE. But, had: winds kick up to heavy winds, civilian interrogation, A AFV start in reverse and stray almost into a building (after jitter firing), and NVR drop to 0. Probably the best thing you can do in my opinion is consolidate your forces into Biturges. Leave the WB in Pictones and maybe move the WB from Veneti to join them. If you get 12 WB into Biturges you can do 3 damage if you get a chance to Battle. you can entreat to take another Arvenri WB.

Easy for him to counter though. Need the Romans to give his allies some tough love in Arverni...
