331 1/26/2017 11:48:00 PM 1758 Late Season Britain Message You're right - I thought it was if one side had square units vs the other side's round units, then it was -1. But its specific to Regulars and Braddock's troops are Light Inf, so the -1 does not apply - you should be at +1 DRM.
330 1/26/2017 11:45:00 PM 1758 Late Season France Message -1 Cultivated only applies when its non-Regulars only vs Regulars. I think this means the rulebook defined Regulars as opposed to the umbrella term of Drilled Troops. Not sure.
329 1/26/2017 11:41:00 PM 1758 Late Season Britain Message Nor me. I think its FR: strength 3 at 0 DRM (+2 tactics, -1 cultivated, -1 stockade) vs BR: strength 4 at 0 DRM.

286 1/3/2017 8:07:00 AM 1758 Early Season France Message Hiya, Happy New Year to you too.

Thanks for the clarifications, I don't think you have to worry too much though as I don't see how I can possibly win at this point; the British have an insane amount of manpower and, whilst historically accurate, I don't see how the French are suppose to contend with it over the entire campaign but maybe I'm just bad and completely missing the point, who knows.

Ohio Forks will remain inside the fort.
285 1/1/2017 10:54:00 AM 1758 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #12: 1 / Ambush!
Play before Battle in Wilderness or Mountain if you have Auxiliaries. May not be played if enemy has Fort, Light Infantry, or more Auxiliary units than you. Fire first, double strength (before any column shifts), unless enemy also ambushes.

NOTE: This card was held from the 1757 Late Season turn.

Message from Britain:
Have to play this, since I held a card last season.

Playing for OPs, activating Bradstreet for movement - you have an interception opportunity.
284 1/1/2017 10:53:00 AM 1758 Early Season Britain Message Hey, Dan. Happy New Year.

I've been reading some rules, thought I'd share them with you (mostly just clarifications, or things I'd read but not previously understood, or completely misinterpreted, or simply forgot):

1. I've been worried about being able to reinforce the siege in Montreal, thinking that because Winooski has no troops, nor no fortifications, and is wilderness, that it would block my boat move. Not the case! Boat movement only needs water connections ... but you can do 1 (and only one) land connection during your boat movement, if that one hop is your cultivated space, or if you have a fortification on each side of said hop. Hence the "carry" spaces.

2. Since that worry was alleviated, I was worried that maybe I couldn't roll on the siege table for Montreal, since you have to have a leader and SUPPLIED DRILLED troops. I was again, thinking that Winooski would block my supply line ... but again, not the case. Supply line traces through rivers, if not rivers then cultivated, if not cultivated then friendly fortifications. So Winooski is river connected, so the supplies float right on through the wilderness - the supply line is intact.

3. I'm worried about your troops in Trois-Riviers. However, without a leader, any card can only activate ONE drilled troop so I think my defense in Sorel is sufficient.

4. Then I started thinking about sneaking ONE of my drilled troops around Trois-Riviers, southeast to St. Francois and then up through Becancour, and on to Quebec to take that fortress. However, several things prevent me from doing this.

A: any unit can intercept, with or without a leader. So you could attempt to intercept in (I believe) each of the spaces as I try to give you the slip. I see nothing that says that same units cannot attempt multiple times. However, you'd only be able to intercept with ONE unit, since you do not have a leader there.

B: even if I did make it Quebec, just because its unoccupied doesn't mean I just get to walk in and take it. I would still have to besiege it when I get it to a 2, and then assault (though since there are no troops, Quebec would defend on the 0-column). Since I would not have a leader, I would not be able to siege OR assault ... so this is not an option for me.
