The overrun rule is not dumb, but trying to simulate what happened during the Civil War where small forces can achieve surprising results giving the initiative. A large army can overwhelm small defense when it has the initiative and bring all its superior firepower to attack. But on the defense, only a portion of its large firepower is being attacked by the enemy force. There are numerous accounts of battles during the ACW where this happened. Stonewall's Valley Campaign shows several good examples.

I'm discovering right now this dumb twist of the overrun rule, which permits an attacker to hit a well-positioned defender at 1/10, whereas it would be vaporized in the role of the defender.

This is obviously not your fault, but I think this rule is absolutely stupid. I can even defend it myself (power of initiative bla bla bla), but I do know this is bullshit.

Whatever. At least I'm learning.
