300 4/18/2017 12:32:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

294 4/15/2017 10:01:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message >>> In a combat involving two 1SP forces with the defender in a ressource or capital space, which rule takes precedence : 7.34 (* wins against non*) or 7.10 (defender wins in case of ties even against a *) ?

In a resource space, 7.10 always trumps.

>>> If 7.34 overrules, it is better to attack with a 1SP force rather than a 2SP against a fortified ressource space with a 1SP defender, correct ?

No, if you send 1 sp against 1 sp in a Resource space, and both sides got a hit, the * is not applied ... so both side will retain the 1 sp, and attacker will retreat back.
293 4/15/2017 9:52:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message CSA SW was at 54- -5 = 49-
292 4/15/2017 7:04:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message James, I've got a ruling question.

In a combat involving two 1SP forces with the defender in a ressource or capital space, which rule takes precedence : 7.34 (* wins against non*) or 7.10 (defender wins in case of ties even against a *) ?

If 7.34 overrules, it is better to attack with a 1SP force rather than a 2SP against a fortified ressource space with a 1SP defender, correct ?

no sweat; if you are referring to Civil War battles, there are numerous books on ACW containing excellent analysis of USA/CSA leadership thinkings.

if you are looking for FTP game analysis, there are articles in GMT C3i magazines that Herman has written; you can also check out consim forum on FTP, maybe just the past 6 yrs or so if you don't want to wade thru the entire tens of thousands of postings.

also, Herman's website contains a number of interesting articles on his games...
http://www.e-markherman.com/ ...
even his blog talks about how he models the ACW in FTP
241 4/9/2017 6:25:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Hi James,

Doing what I can, but it appears I still lack a large part of the probable sum of doctrinal thinking about the game.
Would you be kind enough to give me references about trully interesting materials (GMT mag, pdf files, internet discussions...) ? Maybe after our game if you wish, though the outcome seems clear.

209 4/1/2017 1:27:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message by having Longstreet end in AOT, you now have 6 leaders for only 2 SP in the army... so 1 leader will be displaced... it's probably not a big deal now since you don't have any other leader out, so it can just pop right back into AOT... but for future reference, it can make a difference.
