620 3/23/2017 1:06:00 AM Summer 1917 Central Powers Message Hi Yannick, I enjoyed our game and thanks for showing me how to play better. You definitely had a flexible long term strategy. I'm sure you can adapt against more experienced players than myself.

The CP had the worst possible start by not eliminating the FR5, getting a GE army flipped and another in Sedan. If I stayed my losses would mount. I could have moved back in but you eventually dug in Brussels to deny the bonus RP.

I was holding Tsar Takes Command and took the opportunity to play it early while I could. But it turned out to be a wasted effort without ever being able to play Fall of the Tsar.

Actually, I never kept Liman but did keep Kemal while mobiling an offense against Egypt. But I didn't realize Sinai Pipeline only cancels the -3 drm only for the AP! I wasted too many moves better used for RPs from which I would never recover.

You have the honours of giving the results the our GM.

Best of luck in all your tournaments!
619 3/22/2017 9:21:00 PM Summer 1917 Allies Message Hi Julian, thanks for the game, I had a lot of fun. I don't ascribe my win to any kind of skill - I rolled almost straight 7's for the last 2 turns, whereas you failed to roll any. No strategy in the world will take you back form that. The fact that you failed to double trench Essen and didn't get the mutiny going two turns in a row (though at this point I'd have taken the 1 VP and gone with it) just sealed the deal.

In the future, consider the following: I noticed you did not cull your deck of all the 2 ops cards. Often enough, you were playing them as ops, or holding on to them and using 1 ops instead. Ideally, you want to get rid of flamethrowers, liman von sanders, and 11th army at the first opportunity.

I think it's because you were holding on to liman and kemal the whole game in case I ever attacked in the near east - so I never did. I was happy to build enough there to force you to SR troops in, but not attack. That means that you were essentially playing on a 6-7 hand, while I was playing on 8. That gives me a huge advantage.

Holding on to Kemal is a crucial way to deal with Allenby, but before it you actually don't need it as much. Kars can hold even against a 6 roll from Yudenich, and has a 50% odds of flipping it to boot. That's not great odds even without Kemal - I tend to use it on the first round, and only hold on to it in TW if it looks like Allenby's coming to play.

Otherwise, letting me move into Sedan was a huge boon for me - that is an extremely strategic location in Western Europe. Not only does it cost you the bonus 1 RP, it also means I have far less worries about supply lines, I get to attack Metz from 3 locations and two different nationalities, and since it's a forest you can't pump me out of there with a trench-buster.

A last thing that worked in my favor - I got to use all my RP points ideally, but you were working almost exclusively off the Germans. Ideally, you'd have used the austrians to put some pressure on the Russians. It can be hard to put the Austrians in position, to be sure. You ideally want to have two stacks of 3 Austrians set up for some nasty flanks. Or better yet, 3 austrian armies, and one austrian army with 2 GEc and Sud Armee. Put some pressure in the south, and I have to respond to it, which means less russians hurling themselves at the huns.

All in all, a great game! Thanks for playing. Good luck in your future tournament games!
618 3/22/2017 2:39:00 AM Summer 1917 Central Powers Message Yannick, time to concede the win to you, well played!

The West will crumble this turn. If there was a FR MO Mutiny and a T2 in Essen, I could have played several RP cards and kept the game going against the Russians. Let me know what you think of our game.

Sounds good, I'm always open to suggestions. I though it wouldn't matter if armies were permanetly destroyed when they'd never get rebuilt. But if I lose a combat the corps are useful to cancel retreat instead of flipping an army. Essen has 9A and Koblenz 8A.
576 3/21/2017 5:02:00 AM Spring 1917 Allies Message If I may, it might be more prudent to bring in the 2x GEc in play. I stand to lermanently destroy armies in Koblenz and Strassbourg if I do more than 3 LF, and Essen won't fall to the Belgians.
