64 4/24/2017 8:46:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #14: 3 / Red River Campaign
May not be discarded by the Union. Union must use this card as an OC. If at the conclusion of movement, a Union SP is not on or adjacent to Grand Ecore, LA, then the Union loses 5 SW points. If a Union SP is in one of the objective spaces then a Union PC marker can immediately be placed to convert the space or spaces. Remove from deck if Union plays card.

62 4/24/2017 12:11:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message AoPot n5 with Banks, Buell, Rosey, & Pope...right?
61 4/23/2017 10:20:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Philly
60 4/23/2017 9:32:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message The mods in the battle were worse, but same out-come:
Rebs attacking with 6SPs, +4 Gens
Yanks defending with 3SPs, +2 fort, NO Gens since AoPot does not have a cav bgd present, McDowell is a -1 or zero.

SW impact of WDC win for the Rebs:
For the Yanks, -30 for the Yankee government fleeing out of the capitol from 103+ to 70-

Now, WDC fort destroyed & Capitol marker to the TRT, AND the AoPot survivies and may retire by water or to Annapolis! To where will she go?

Union places or flips three PC markers in Missouri. The spaces may not contain Confederate SPs or forts.

Message from Confederate:
Good move with Burnisde...I now have to think about my rear-end!

ANV (n5) leaves 1SP in Frederick, moves to Baltimore (p/u 2SPs - n6) and attacks WDC with 3SPs & ole McDowell
56 4/21/2017 11:39:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message This is kind of hopeless. ANV with 4Inf and Cav can't possibly be defeated by corps or no Cav.Armies. Saving DC is a slim longshot. My only recourse is to sting you where I can - my navy.
Burnside/2>Morehead City
55 4/21/2017 10:30:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Oh hell, I've missed your Strat moves as well. I had ANV at 2. I'm just not used to playing w/o each side making files and transmitting them.
Let me try a third time to get the board in correct state before I move. Hang on.
54 4/21/2017 10:26:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message I've used 6MP so far. Move may continue, but need confirmation on discretionary retreat location of ANV
53 4/21/2017 10:26:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message ANV has 5SPs...plus the Gens...

re-do that last move?
52 4/21/2017 10:19:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message I think the move is worth making for the chance to wipe out the ANV and a cav. However with Stuart with Stuart in place, the discretionary retreat succeeds. I assume you retreat to Manassas?
51 4/21/2017 9:11:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Oops. I didn't have your Generals in place. That will change things. Got to run to work though. I'll have to rethink that glorious (but likely erroneous) result.

Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

28 4/6/2017 9:59:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message 2nd part of campaign card (re-do):
Polk takes his 1SP from Memphis to Paducah (drops it there), then moves by his-lonesome to Dover.

Those new rules are going to be something for me to get used to...new challenges!
27 4/5/2017 10:10:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Got the rules printed so I could compare them with the edition that I had. Yes, I like them. Thoe rules do reflect the reality of logisitcs much better...but it is going to crimp my style for a while till Iget use to them...I think they really change the Reb's options in the game. Will get my last move in a minute.
26 4/2/2017 7:48:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Well, what do you think? My preference is to use all the optionals. RR Logistics makes sense, because the roads were generally bad, especially on frontier. And maintaining supply lines was a paramount concern until late in the war. Suppling Armies across the Appalachians especially is effected. It's simply ridiculous to allow units to hook around through Pittsburg. Jackson tried that early in his career and the mountains savaged his troops.
25 3/30/2017 11:28:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message HHhmmm, my rules book has Ops Que as Section 19. Which edition of the rules are you refering to? Perhaps mine are out of date!
24 3/29/2017 9:34:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message 19 - Introduces the restrictions of RR access to game, making trans-Mississippi, trans-Allegheny and E. Kentucky operations a bit more difficult. Entry into a space more than 1 space away from a controlled RR cost 2MP.
20 - Allows Ops Queues just like in Washington's War.
23 3/29/2017 12:50:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message I am unaware of a rule that would prevent Price moving to Dover from Fayetteville...give me a rule section number and will check it out.
22 3/27/2017 9:16:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message OK, I'm really getting pissed off at this game. I think I have yet to play U without having C blast through Frederick. In the last 5 battles I've fought in 3 different games I've rolled a 1. Two of those were losses were with Lee and Jackson in my only effort at C. Grrrrrr.
Now I've vented. I feel better.
Aren't we playing with the RR logistics optional rules? That would slow down Price.

16 3/23/2017 8:20:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #84: 3 / Major Campaign
Conduct up to three moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Confederate:
Yep, move looks good...nice hand you had.

15 3/22/2017 1:04:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #114: 3 / Frederick Douglas
Union immediately receives five SPs for raising freemen Negro troops. The SPs can be placed in any single Union controlled space with a LOC in NJ, DE, PA or the space that contains the Union capital that does not contain Confederate SPs or forts. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
As nice as 5 more troops in DC would be, I'm going to launch naval operations against Sabine City to close down the WGZ.
2SP DC>Sabine City
My reading of the rules is that Torpedoes are only useful against Amphib.Assaults (and Running the Guns ops). AAs only occur against enemy-occupied spaces. Sabine City has no troops in it, so the naval movement succeeds w/o battle and the torpedo marker is removed.
14 3/19/2017 6:55:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #51: 1 / Confederate Torpedoes
Confederate receives three torpedo counters. Must be placed in a friendly controlled port, and no more than one per space. Torpedoes provide a -1 DRM against Running the Guns and a +1 DRM against amphibious assaults.

Message from Confederate:

13 3/18/2017 11:34:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #19: 1 / Belmont
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

Message from Union:

11 3/18/2017 4:38:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #78: 3 / Personal Advisor
Either player may remove or demote from army command one general for no SW penalty. Penalties for promoting a general with a lower political value still apply. OR remove ANY non-commanding general (even second in commands) from the game.

Message from Confederate:
