92 5/13/2017 6:39:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I confirm that that requires entirely another strategy...

Under these rules hyper-agressive CSA strategy is not implementable.

Raids and cutting railroads are supposed to be much more difficult which throws the balance towards Union...

On the other hand Union raging at the end of the game is reduced... which may (or not) balance things up.

So theoretically speaking short games will be replaced by longer games... and the outcome will possibly look more like what happened in the ACW historically...

These are my theoretical reflections...

One question though: Wouldn't Pope's last move be illegal under RR variant?
91 5/13/2017 6:29:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message No problem, let's restart...

Just so you understand my last post before you launched your last card was that if you were holding a campaign card what I did would not have stopped the outcome that you achieved with a normal OC play.

What would have happened is one of your generals would have detached from AoNVa, it is not yet a force (no SPs) so the move to Manassas would have been 1 movement. Then the general would have picked up some SPs and would have knocked out Charlottesville or Hanover to reestablish the RR LOC to Manassas.

Once the RR LOC was reestablished you would have 8 movement to do the PA raid.

Without a Campaign card, you have sufficient movement to open up the RR LOC to AoNVa, but not to raid and then open up the RR LOC.

I hope that shows the rule in practice. Also, note that Armies in total cannot receive more than 3 SPs.
90 5/13/2017 6:12:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message When you said all optional rules I thought rules relating to McClellan., Van Dorne etc... Those we use in tournament games.

For me, RR rules are 10th anniversary rules and if they are going to be used it is a totally different game... it has no relation to the strategy we play in the tournament.

So yes... there is a misunderstanding.

To be honest I never played with RR rules only. I played twice with Naval = RR variant which is fun. Only RR appeared a bit dry to me.

If we are going to play that option i am afraid we need to restart... and I need to reread the rules... :-)
89 5/13/2017 5:13:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message The reference I put in my last message is potentially misleading, it is rule 19.0 that modifies rule 8.13. I think I had cut off all of the RRs, so all movement costs 2 per space, sufficient to open up the LOC, but not to also conduct the raid.

Its a friendly game, but I think we were both using different assumptions on our last card play. Thoughts?
88 5/13/2017 5:10:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Per my original note we were going to play with all optional rules and I think I specifically stated that we would play with the RR rule.

We do not have to play with rule 8.13 if you do not want to at this point, but let me know what you think. I suspect you would have done things quite differently.

29 5/8/2017 12:35:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Here is my plan, the Union has 8 Generals coming in (Fremont + 7 Dwarves), I have lined them up in alphabetical order, from 1 to 8,
1. Banks
2. Buell
3. Burnside
4. Fremont
5. Halleck
6. McClellan
7. Popoe
8. Rosecrans

I will roll a 99 sided die, so small chance that any two get the same number. The number of the die is assigned to one of the generals in the same order.

Going from lowest die roll to highest, the generals are going into the following spaces going left to right
1. AoP

5. Bloomington
