41 6/20/2017 6:40:00 AM 1755 Early Season Britain Message Hi Gordon
Care for a new game? Or to continue the old one and see, if the French can overcome the ambush?

40 6/18/2017 2:11:00 PM 1755 Early Season Britain Message 2 + 1 = 3, equals 2 hit. Attacker win, defender has to retreat and with no cultivated nor stockade to retreat to, all your Drilled units are destroyed...

Two of my provincials take a hit, the fort-to-be-built marker is destroyed, +1 VP to UK for winning a battle with 4+ units on the other side

Your aux-unit may retreat to wilderness and so can your two leaders. I'll let the initial 4 hits hit your drilled units, leaving the aux unharmed.

Okay. All the good French Drilled Units perished in the battle. You still have marines, aux and Indians as well as more cards per turn than me, so you could fight on.

But without the good units it's a really uphill battle being French, as UK get more drilled units per default than you so I'll probably win by attrition...

You care to continue or should we start again? We didn't get that far this time either, so we can just set-up and start anew...

Message from Britain:
A 5 that becomes a 6 = 4 hits. Your forces start with 13, minus 4 hits down to 9, but still on 9-12 table. You have +1 for leader and no bonus from aux as we both have aux..

Suspense. If you roll 5+ you actually survive :-)

Message from Britain:
Interesting. The Ambush card says double and fire BEFORE column shifts, but I think Fieldworks negates this. And I can't see anything about it on BGG. So we move 1 column.

If you had intercepted me, I would have had 24 (double of 12) AND you would have had -1 DRM on returnfire. Now you actually just may survive :-)

Okay, attacker 10*2=20, one column shift to 13-16 table with +1 for leader and nothing from aux as we both have aux. So rolling Ambush with +1 on 13-16 table
37 6/18/2017 12:57:00 PM 1755 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Event #9: 1 / Fieldworks
Play before Battle if you have Drilled Troops. If defending, place marker--attacker shifts 1 column left. If attacking, remove defender's marker. (Marker also removed anytime owner chooses or if attackers win.)

Message from France:
Here it is.
36 6/18/2017 12:57:00 PM 1755 Early Season France Message Oh God, not Ambush. Well, OK, another game lost. BUT. I will play this to see if I can save myself.
35 6/18/2017 3:47:00 AM 1755 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #11: 1 / Ambush!
Play before Battle in Wilderness or Mountain if you have Auxiliaries. May not be played if enemy has Fort, Light Infantry, or more Auxiliary units than you. Fire first, double strength (before any column shifts), unless enemy also ambushes.

Message from Britain:
Yes indeed. We had a fort in this area and know it well, so we know just the right place to sneak in and ambush the frog-eating French...

Question is, do you have any cards perhaps an ambush of your own?
34 6/17/2017 8:20:00 PM 1755 Early Season France Message No way. Cards?
33 6/17/2017 5:42:00 PM 1755 Early Season Britain Message Okay, no interception. I am not sure if it helps, but at least my forces will count one less and you'll not have a minus 1 DRM.

Okay, both my leaders, all Indians and all provincials except the guy in OCW which we can't pick up move on to Oswelgo to fight or chase of the French.
We are currently 10 against your 13, so UK fight at a lower table, but we have a line of retreat if we lose, and you don't, so I'll ask you if you want to retreat?
32 6/15/2017 9:11:00 AM 1755 Early Season France Message OK, I finally have another computer, but I lost all my files. Can you send me a .gam file?

Message from Britain:
As I read the rules, a fort without units is still able to defend itself but at the 0-column. So the brave but not stupid provincials in the fort decide to make a run for it... they need 4+ to successfully avoid
14 5/12/2017 10:30:00 PM 1755 Early Season France Message And of course we siege, unless your 2-4 leaves the fort.
