141 6/9/2017 5:02:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message This is a two player game. A weak hand is only weak if the other side has (in contrast) something powerful to throw at you.

I was lucky to save AONV. It wouldn't be possible without drawing a campaign. I am happy to save my skin you are happy to get rid of a bad hand.

These are in balance.

Real bad luck starts with a considerable delta in luck and this is always a comparative study.

When I started the game I had a "defensive" priority. Two cards I drew in each hands tilted me to attempt another course of action than planned. "Religeous Revival" on turn 1. "Concentration " on Turn 2. Such dose of luck normally "kills" even a bull! However at the last move of each Turn you made two incredible interceptions on 1/6 probability. ... which did not only stop invasion of North East but also trapped AONV.

So in a way, it doesn't amtter how many legions you have if you are going into a "double envelopment" with them. :-)))

By thw way, my version of playing your hand would have 2-3 Forts rather than the long OPS que. ... But that's why the game is fun. No two player play it the sameway.

Overall, this is a "balanced game" so far from my assesment of "delat luck". Imagine you failed that intercept at the end of turn 2 and on turn 3 we drew the same hands! Then it would have been a considerable delta.

140 6/8/2017 7:14:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message What I find interesting is most folks bemoan weak hands. I find them more interesting as they force you to think harder. Overall, not too bad, but my Presidency for a three card was what I was thinking when I saw last turn's hand.

As far as i know you camnot remove the commander in chief and cavalry commanders for this election.

Other options are OK for me.
124 6/5/2017 5:18:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message A brief moment, my lovely wife had a software issue that took immediate priority because she said that was the case.

After I removed the two SPs and prior to your move, the AoNVa has two SPs, which means it can have a total of 5 generals.

At the moment I removed the 1SP from Richmond, there was one too many generals in Richmond, so I choose to send Van Dorn off to the gt track.

The implications of this are if you move the AoNVa to Richmond it will absorb Beauregard and the AoNVa will have 6 generals. I wanted to give you the option to know this before you made the move as it will be up to me to remove one of the generals if you do so. I can choose to have JJ reassigned.

I just wanted to make sure this was all clear. I intended to write this prior to you making what I expected you to do, but as I said, my boss interceded.

105 6/4/2017 5:02:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Did Tolkien really say that? :-)

By the way I wasn't in London but is there anywhere really safe nowadays?

Those who arrange these attacks desire us to say this certainly. We must face this and find out those behind them.

104 6/4/2017 1:01:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message By the way, I do not want you to despair. Its a game and its about having fun. We can start again... as Tolkien says, the third time pays for all.

102 6/4/2017 10:35:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message For some reason, in my recent games I seem always to play games where the laws of probability is altered.

How is that possible?

Look at the rolls you made!

2 rounds ago I was readying myself to gloriously pull the first raid which in my estimation was very difficult to prevent.

Look now where AONV is trapped!

96 6/4/2017 9:28:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message As a note for future situations, the AoNVa move into Strasburg met the rule definition for a 1 space (vs. 2 movement) cost entry.

However, as in supply, since you were out of supply the rule probably needs another sentence, but we will play the rule as written. I may have a new thought after we finish our game.

As you are likely asleep in Europe somewhere I will finish out the move and conduct my early next turn activities. As this is turn 3 there are no reinforcements, just strategic movement and general placement.

90 6/4/2017 2:45:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message The legal brief will be very brief: I erred. The placement of Union PC in Mannassas changes the rail status of Strasburg.
89 6/3/2017 5:17:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message My thought when I made the move was that when I used my third move to convert Manassas into a friendly Union space before moving it turned Manassas via Washington, Baltimore and north into a RR LOC qualified space.

Since Strasburg is now adjacent to a qualified RR LOC space it should only require one movement to enter.

That said, I am happy to hear your legal brief on why I am wrong, since you and I are ploughing new ground here.
