The Union blockade level is decreased by one. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
I was keeping this one aside, just in case...

Blockade back to nil.
69 7/23/2017 11:09:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message My Mom loves foie gras, but only when her grandchildren are out of town! I may be a vegetarian, but decimated herds of cattle growing up.
Bardet showed incredible courage and fortitude. The pain he was obviously in was difficult to watch.
Man could I have used that reinforcement card you played......
68 7/23/2017 11:02:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #71: 3 / General Scott, The Anaconda Plan
The Union player may either increase the Blockade Level by one or increase the Amphibious Assault modifier by two.

Message from Union:
Will increase blockade level to 1.
67 7/23/2017 6:07:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Mmmh...so I won't send you a jar of home made foie gras, otherwise I would definitely be considered as a war criminal in Oregon.
Will find something else...
66 7/23/2017 6:04:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #49: 3 / CSS Alabama, Commerce Raider
Union SW reduced by two.

Message from Confederate:
SW USA 108-2-3=103-

Bardet saved his 3d for 1 second with a rush in the end. But he collapsed during the climb ; I think he ends the Tour completely exhausted. He's 28, and I don't know if he will be able to improve his time trial skills in the future.
Barguil, on the other end, is young and promising. We'll see.
65 7/23/2017 12:37:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Watched Bardet come back from disaster in the time trial. Magnificent!
He will win it all in the next few years.
64 7/22/2017 3:47:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #47: 3 / CSA Recognizes KY, MO, MD and DE
Confederate places a total of two SPs in any single space in KY, MO, MD or DE that contains a general or army in these states. The space can be controlled by either side or neutral and does not require a LOC. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Good idea!
PC markers in: St. Joseph, Jefferson City, and Rolla.

Yes, the Pacific northwest has great natural beauty, but France has natural beauty and HISTORY. I love those aerial shots overlooking the picturesque villages with perfectly maintained structures from the 1300's! I will not consider my life complete till I ride L' Alpe d'Huez and Ventoux. The support vehicle following me will of course be an ambulance!

Whoa! I'm busted! Yes, how did you know I was a vegetarian? My daughters still think I am a war criminal however, as I am not VEGAN!
Well, looks like Froome wrapped it up today. Maybe he'll get lost on the way to Paris?
63 7/22/2017 5:03:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #30: 3 / Glory Hallelujah
Union immediately receives three SPs for raising Negro troops. The SPs can be placed in any Union controlled space (even one without a LOC) that doesn’t contain a Confederate SP or fort.

Message from Confederate:
PC at Springfield,Mo, Lexington and Kansas City.

Yes, these mountain stages are incredible and eagerly expected : efforts and bravery needed are so amazing !
I'm very proud of the beauty and diversity of France landscapes of course, as you can imagine ; if you love cycling, you should come some day and do some of the famous legs of the Tour at your own pace, alternating with culinary breaks. But I guess US landscapes are stunningly beautiful as well, especially where you are !
Coming to culinary breaks : are you vegeterian as well, Rob ?
62 7/21/2017 2:31:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #19: 1 / Belmont
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

Message from Union:
Fort in Franklin
Hope I don't run out of these things!

The speeds are not human! I'm a little concerned about rumors surrounding Team Sky's performance, hopefully not another "Armstrong Mafia". Is France really as beautiful as it looks on the Tour? I know the Time Trials are considered "The Race of Truth", but it's those mountain stages that really draw me in!
61 7/21/2017 2:11:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Absolutely correct, Rob ! You can proceed with your next card.

The Tour seems so well above human capabilities (40km/h average speed during the Galibier climbing day ! Can you imagine that ?) that during years it was definitely too suspicious for a total ignorant like me. But I must say I get more and more interested now (and admirative as well : these guys are so brave/crazy during descents !).
Still hoping that Bardet can challenge Froome supremacy, but I guess the last individual time trial tomorrow will seal his fate.
60 7/21/2017 12:31:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message I think that is 2/2
Medium Battle Union victory
Burnside and 2 SP in Franklin
AoNV with 4 SP in Strasburg
Please confirm the above before I play next card, but I think this is right.

The Tour is the most beautiful event in sport! I've been a cyclist since age 2. I love riding out here in rural Oregon, but am getting tired of idiots in pick-up trucks

Usually I don't, but this time I must admit it's epic : a French guy 20" away from Froome close to the end + a young French climber winning 2 legs including the Galibier...Great show !

Over to you to resolve.
6 7/1/2017 10:41:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Hi Rob,

I see your intent.
First, Admiral Porter gives you an Amphibious DRM as per 6.41. Amphibious DRMs are mixed together, so the Amphibious DRM for the battle is +2(Porter)-2(fort)=0 ==> no Amphibious modifier in the end
then small battle and you have +4 DRM against ungarrisoned fort / I have 0 DRM ==> maybe it's not a 1/1, you may not have any casualties depending on my die

Concerning the occupation of the fort : as per any other space, it is not considered occupied (so no SW change...) until a PC is put in ==> automatic during the Political phase, or you may spend an OC to do so during rounds as well
Until the fort is finally occupied, it is still confederate despite the Union troops and continues to prevent Union access to New Orleans as per any other confederate fort (still obstacles/mines/flooded traps to remove)

Tell me if it's clear and if you still want to proceed with your Admiral.
