370 9/19/2017 12:03:00 AM Fall 1863 Confederate Message BTW, I have been away for a few days, so the PBS Vietnam series is going on my DVR.

I am looking forward to it.

369 9/19/2017 12:01:00 AM Fall 1863 Confederate Message This was a situation where the RR Logistics really hurt me by limiting my movements. If I had full movement, might have done some things differently.

If you did not have the minor campaign to move Curtis, I would have struck at you with Longstreet.

Then, when you forced the desertion, that caused me a turn delay as I needed to bring the Dover garrison back to bring up my troops strength. I couldn't pick them up and also attack elsewhere.

I actually have a great hand, but lots of reinforcement cards mean a lack of activity. Pretty interesting tradeoff.

368 9/18/2017 11:54:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Message BTW, don't worry about your ability. You made some really good moves this game. Your thoughts about moving in MS to limit Jackson were good and your cutting me off in TN were good.

I would say your biggest issue is that you don't push your advantages when you have them. This turn you are doing well. But previously, I think you did some amphibs when it would have been better to just push your armies forward. You might take more losses, but you gain position and cause me more losses. Amphibs are great but you need a really good plan to use them and keep at the plan.
367 9/18/2017 11:51:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Message I didn't even look at the board, and won't now. Of course, I'm not surprised that my overwhelming force still somehow couldn't take Nashville! Will examine tomorrow. I'm currently absorbed in Burns's documentary on Vietnam (killer soundtrack).

I thought about these moves at some length and clearly have much to learn. Seemed to me destroying your army was unlikely, and taking Nashville was more so with the damned production city tiebreaker in your favor. Perhaps I didn't see that the two goals were mutually exclusive. You could accpomplish one or the other, but not both. I'm still surprised you let me encircle you. Must have a shitty hand?
366 9/18/2017 11:45:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Message Alternate files posted from after your 149.

This is what I intended to try to keep the force in being.

Had alternatives too with my CP card to go through AL.

For the CSA, on such a tight SW, really cannot afford to take the SW hit for armies.

362 9/18/2017 11:31:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Message OK William,

Hopefully you see why I wouldn't intercept. You did a great move with your minor campaign to put me OOS which limited my options, but saving the Army is critical when it is a really bad situation that you won't recover no matter how well you do.
361 9/18/2017 11:28:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Message Dave, I'm more than happy to roll back the clock. I make assumptions only to move the game forward, all to used to opponents that don't keep up with games. That should never be construed to limit the actual player's options. I have no doubt whatsoever in your honorable intention and will gladly dispense with my rolls if I jumped the gun. I'm clearly not very good at this game, and have often been proven wrong in what I expected you to do.
I insist that you roll out my attack on Nashville w/o the intercept. I want to see how this works out as you intended your defense to play out. I will commit the Elite unit though this time as the threat to them is limited.

You should have really asked me in this case before rolling, as I did not intend to intercept. I cannot hold Nashville but I need to protect the army.

Now, although I held Nashville for an impulse, there is a chance the Army will get destroyed which likely be a game losing event.

The Union removes one SP (Confederate chooses) within two spaces (including a river connection) of a Confederate SP due to poor leadership. A Union SP can be removed from a Coastal fort.

334 9/10/2017 6:18:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Message BTW the RR logistics did prevent me from getting the three spaces in PA which I was hoping to do.
333 9/10/2017 6:16:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Message William,

Nashville is still a supply source. There is no rule that it must have a rail connection to another city to become an ultimate supply source. That would make the CSA relatively indefensible because then it would be impossible for any forces in Texas or Arkansas to be in supply, and even Fayetteville, NC would not be a supply source.

Also, that would have not stopped the division move anyway, because Steven would only cost 1 movement point as it is adjacent to Chattanooga.

Now, if you placed one in Tullahoma I would have been OOS, but it still wouldn't have stopped my division move from occupying both spaces wherever they were.

332 9/10/2017 2:23:00 PM Fall 1863 Union Message Doesn't RR Logistics make the first two moves there invalid? Nashville is cut off, and can't serve as an Ultimate Supply Source as it has no RR LOC to another USS. Every move in Central TN will cost 2, and you're out of supply for any battles.
