223 11/21/2017 2:14:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #2: 2 / Copperheads
Reduce Union SW by two points, or place two PC markers in Ohio (must be placed in spaces free of Union SPs).

Activate Burnside (leaves 4 in Paducah):

3. to StL pick up Fremont/1, nFremont/4 (StL left with 1)
4. Ironton
5. Cairo
6. To Paducah (space now Burnside/Fremont/8)
7. Leave Fremont/2 in Paducah, attack Columbus with Burnside/6

Medium battle. I have +2 for 3:1 ratio, you have +2 for Fort. Over to you to react and/or roll.
222 11/21/2017 1:51:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Also you were attacking out of supply which should have been an additional +2, but I think the outcome is the same.
221 11/19/2017 10:43:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Actually, in looking at the small battle chart, I think the result was 1,1 so the USA won. Still since you were eliminated and had no fort or general there, I could continue to move but won't.

Also, in the previous battle, Banks goes to the track
220 11/19/2017 10:39:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Each lose 1 - I'll stop there with Longstreet and 2 SP in Pollard

Union may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general. If an amphibious assault occurs, you receive an additional +2 DRM. Add +2DRM to any Running the Guns die roll.

Confederate immediately receives three SPs in any open Blockade Runner Port, no more than one SP per port, but more than one SP per Blockade Zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost.

Message from Confederate:

213 11/17/2017 2:36:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #9: 3 / Clara Barton
Union immediately adds three SPs due to improved sanitary conditions. Place in any space (friendly controlled or not) that already contains a Union SP and has a LOC, no more than one per space.

212 11/16/2017 7:34:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #126: 1 / Valley Devastation
If Union infantry SPs occupy all three Shenandoah Valley spaces the Union player places a destroyed Resource marker in all Shenandoah Valley spaces. These destroyed Resource markers cannot be removed and prevent the Confederate player from using the Shenandoah valley as a supply source for the remainder of the game. Remove from deck if event is played.

211 11/16/2017 1:07:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Ha - sent that last message to the wrong game:-)

I'll move tomorrow on this one.
210 11/16/2017 1:06:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Whoops - I missed all that SATL stuff and just noticed it. Sorry about that.

Well, the miracle ends and thus the game. I enjoyed it and nice meeting you. Best of luck the rest of the way.
209 11/14/2017 4:04:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message That's correct - although if you see the opponent underestimated your modifier it's probably better to check "are you sure you still want to do that attack" before rolling. In this case I would have anyway, so it's all fine. Over to you.
208 11/9/2017 7:37:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I'll wait for confirmation before I move - may need to think about it a bit anyway.
207 11/9/2017 7:35:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message If I got the DRM correct (Johnston, Stuart and fort):

205 11/9/2017 3:51:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Union:
AoP uses this to attack ANV. I believe I have only +2 and not +3 due to your commander rating being better than mine, and you have a +4?
204 11/7/2017 2:24:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Ok I'll figure this out tonight (possibly really late tonight).
203 11/7/2017 2:24:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Draw Strategy cards 7 cards drawn.

196 11/6/2017 2:21:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Columbus GA should be at 2 and not 1 after that move, per message 191.

Pleasanton goes into AoC.
Butler goes to Washington DC.
195 11/4/2017 11:51:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Confederate Strategic Movement:

194 11/3/2017 6:42:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Yes that first line should say 2sp and not 1sp.
193 11/3/2017 6:31:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message I show Washington starting with 8 instead of 7 and Pensacola with 1 instead of 2. Feel free to adjust things as necessary based on this if you agree. I'm off to a softball game soon - will get my SM figured out later tonight.
Only 1 week left until Round Rock!
192 11/3/2017 5:20:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message My strat moves:

1sp Pensacola (n2) -> Mobile (nBanks/2)
2sp Washington (n4) -> AoP (n7)
2sp Jonesborogh (n0) -> AoP (n9)
2sp Bloomington (n4) -> AoP (n11)
4sp Bloomington (n0) -> AoC (n13)
191 11/3/2017 5:06:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Oh,I didn't realize that and thought it was closed. I'll put the 4th blockade runner in Columbus (n3) then
190 11/3/2017 4:40:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message the Zone is only closed if all ports in the zone are closed. You cannot land at Mobile or Pensacola, but Columbus and Cedar Key are still available.
189 11/3/2017 4:27:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Isn't the East Gulf closed due to have an SP in Mobile? Think I only get 3 this turn and they (including the Norfolk one) are placed.
188 11/3/2017 1:08:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Oops, I meant East Gulf.

Norfolk VA; Charleston SC , New Orleans (n3) were the three you gave, and then you said also Norfolk if that's available again. So presumably the first Norfolk should have been somewhere else.
187 11/2/2017 8:52:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Oh, I did a cut and paste from the previous turn and guess it was there (before you told me last turn that that zone was blocked). Anyway, that is the east coast zone so think we are good.
186 11/2/2017 7:35:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Oh, I just realized:

<< Blockade Runners:
Norfolk VA; Charleston SC , New Orleans (n3)

Do I get on in the North Atlantic now that I have Fort Monroe? If so, 1 in Norfolk >>

Norfolk was already mentioned - where was the East Coast reinforcement?
185 11/2/2017 7:27:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message << Do I get on in the North Atlantic now that I have Fort Monroe? If so, 1 in Norfolk >>

Yes, you have re-opened the zone.
184 10/30/2017 11:32:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message ANV now 3 instead of 4
183 10/30/2017 11:29:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Confederate Reinforments:

SC - Marion GA - Columbus (n2)
TN - Memphis (n2) AL - Opelika
MS - Winchester LA - New Orleans (n2)
Ark - Little Rock KY - Somerset (AoT) (n3)

Blockade Runners:
Norfolk VA; Charleston SC , New Orleans (n3)

Do I get on in the North Atlantic now that I have Fort Monroe? If so, 1 in Norfolk
182 10/29/2017 1:51:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message For Turn 5 I would like to do Step A before Step B (as in, technically, we both place before either of us uses SM - usually it doesn't matter but in this case I do want to see your placements before I conduct SM).

I get 8 in previously-empty Washington DC and 6 in previously-empty Bloomington, IN. My others go

1 in St Louis (now Fremont/2)
1 in Cairo (now 2)
2 in Jonesborough (now 2)
181 10/26/2017 1:56:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Attrition:

Paducah -1 now Burnside/4
ANV -1 n2
AoP -2 n5
AoC -2 n9

That's all I see. The turn ends and we're onto T5 reinforcements, but I have to think this over a bit as it's getting late.

180 10/25/2017 4:29:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message I think your interpretation seems correct and reasonable to me so let's proceed.
179 10/25/2017 2:27:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message POLITICAL PHASE:
Nobody's capital displaces. Union gains PCs in the the following:
Ironton, MO
Paducah, KY
Pensacola, FL
Pollard, AL
Mobile, AL

CSA removes the PC in Columbus, GA.

Union gains control of Missouri and the three empty CSA spaces there: Rolla, Greenville, and New Madrid, and gains 10 SW from 96, +2 for Changing Fortune, up to 108+.

I think the CSA SP in Fort Morgan is stuck there as long as I have an SP in Mobile b/c you cannot AA, but since division moves can enter an enemy PC in your own State, you can move there if I leave Mobile empty (unless I later take Alabama). In the meantime the port is blockaded for you but I cannot move straight Mobile either without running the guns.

I don't think my PC marker in New Madrid affects your river situation at all. You have forts on either side of it denying my control of the river there, and my PC doesn't affect your ability to cross the river since I don't have a fort there.

Let me know if you agree with all of this before we move forward. I'm 99% sure on the two river PC situations, not 100%, so we can always ask on Consimworld if you want.
178 10/22/2017 11:15:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message In case my description was confusing, I basically took the 10 SP of the AoT and spread them out so that I won't lose any attrition:

Somerset: AoT with Lee, Bragg, Beauregard, Wheeler and 1 SP
Clinton: 2 SP
Crossville: 2 SP
Knoxville: Forest and 1 SP
Rodgersville: Van Dorn and 2 SP
177 10/22/2017 11:12:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #36: 1 / Elite Units
Place an Elite unit marker in any space with an Army. CSA: Stonewall Bde or Hoodís Tigers. USA: Iron Bde or Wilderís Bde. Cannot be played if all elite unit markers are in play for that side.

Message from Confederate:
Back from my trip. Will activate Van Dorn and move him from the AoT with 8 SP (including Forrest)(leaving 2 SP (including Wheeler) in the AoT). Will move thru Clinton to Crossville, drop of 2 SP; back to Clinton and drop 2 SP there as well - on to Knoxville and drop Forest and 1 SP and move to Rodgersville with 2 SP.
176 10/13/2017 12:14:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #12: 3 / Cabinet Intrigue
Union SW reduced by three.

Message from Union:
I had a great hand this turn. Two campaigns, two other 3s, two 2s, and only a single 1.

I'm tempted to attack again for the chance to destroy AoP (if I cause two losses, and you get a modified 10 and then get another general casualty), but the chances are only 1 in 8.

So I will activate Banks/2 in Pensacola, leaving 1 in the space, move to Pollard, drop off 1 more, and Banks/1 end in Mobile.
175 10/13/2017 12:04:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Correct - "Division moves may drop off SPs, but may not pick up SPs."

174 10/11/2017 8:46:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #66: 1 / Wilson's Creek
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if they were led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

Message from Confederate:
Will activate the 2 SP in Fort Monroe and move them to Richmond and join the AoNV (n3). I would rather move 1 of them from Fort Monroe and pick up the guy in Williamsburg (still 2 to AoNV) but don't think that is allowed???
173 10/11/2017 4:53:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Polk bites the dust, Stuart survives, and AoP stops in Hanover.

Second move:
Banks/3 naval move from Morehead City, NC to Pensacola, FL.

Confederacy is up.

You get a 6, becomes max 10, inflict 3 losses. AoP now 7 CU.

You also have a leader loss check.

Message from Union:
Since Johnston's defensive rating is higher than McDowell's offensive rating I only get to add one general. I think we have the following:

USA: McDowell +1, Stoneman +1, 3:1 force ratio +2; TOTAL +4
CSA: Fort +2, Johnston +2, Stuart +2; TOTAL +6
167 10/10/2017 7:45:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Maybe only 2 but close together so seems like more. Anyway, hoping for the best for Johnston's army!
166 10/10/2017 7:35:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Seems I have to stay in Richmond and hope I can survive - too many campaign cards (is that 3?) for the Union this game:-)
165 10/10/2017 8:14:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #85: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Union:
First Move:

AoP moves with all 10 CUs

1. Manassas
2-3. Fredericksburg & convert
4-5. Hanover & convert
6. Attack Richmond

You have multiple choices: you may intercept in Hanover, stand and fight in Richmond, or evade from Richmond.
164 10/9/2017 10:38:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Ok - I will do that then. Thanks for pointing that out as some things are still a bit confusing for me.
163 10/9/2017 6:12:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message I don't think you automatically take over Ft. Monroe, but as far as I can tell, since you have an army, you can automatically spend 1 movement point to convert the space. Since you only moved 5 spaces anyway, you could have done so while making the same (or some other) move, which I'm fine with.
162 10/9/2017 6:03:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message "The instant that an Army has zero SPs (even if located on a fort) the Army is eliminated"

So yeah, looks like you had it right, unlike a corps move you cannot temporarily go down to 0 SP, even if in your own territory.
161 10/8/2017 10:27:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message BTW, fort isn't really removed, I just take it over I think.
160 10/8/2017 10:22:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message That didn't really work out like I was trying to do and is probably confusing. I ended up with 2 in Fort Monroe, I in Willamsburg, and 3 (including Stuart) in Richmond. I wanted to drop Stuart off in Hanover again but by the time I got there, Stuart was all that was left and I didn't think I could drop him off or the army would be gone!
159 10/8/2017 10:17:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Small battle - each lose 1 Sp - Confederate victory. Fort is removed. Leave 2 Sp in Fort Monroe (n1), and move back to Richmond (n3)

157 10/8/2017 10:06:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #14: 3 / Red River Campaign
May not be discarded by the Union. Union must use this card as an OC. If at the conclusion of movement, a Union SP is not on or adjacent to Grand Ecore, LA, then the Union loses 5 SW points. If a Union SP is in one of the objective spaces then a Union PC marker can immediately be placed to convert the space or spaces. Remove from deck if Union plays card.

Message from Confederate:
I hope I do this right. Going to activate the AoNV. Leave 2 SP in Richmond while Johnston/Polk move with 4 SP up to Hanover (1 MP), pick up Stuart (n5) and move to Williamsburg (2nd MP) where 1 SP is dropped (n4) and move into fight the SP in Fort Monroe (3rd MP)
156 10/8/2017 5:53:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #76: 2 / Great Sioux Uprising
Remove one Union commanding general at no SW penalty. Penalties for promoting a general with a lower political value still apply. OR remove ANY Union non-commanding general (even second in commands) from the game. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
I'll create the 11 SP Army of the Cumberland in Louisville with Rosecrans in command and Curtis as 2nd. 2 SW penalty for me, down to 96-
155 10/8/2017 5:51:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Great. See you in a month :)

Since Cav Brigades are SP also, AoT should have 10 strength.
154 10/8/2017 12:36:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Just completed registration for Millennium Con!
153 10/8/2017 12:24:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #108: 2 / Richmond Bread Riots
Confederate player loses 2 SW. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Building the Army of Tennessee under Lee (8 SP). Bragg will be second in command if that needs to be specified? Lose 2 SW to 98.
152 10/6/2017 6:01:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message "Planning on coming down for the games. Looks like it is Friday and Saturday rather than Saturday and Sunday?"

Last year I did 1 game Friday, 2 Saturday, 1 Sunday (with 5 of the 8 we ended up with being newbies or guys who had never played a tournament before I wasn't sure 3 games/day would work). As it turned out, we were fine on time. If anything 3/day was easier with less serious players b/c they spent less time thinking.

This year I went with Friday/Saturday since Friday is a Holiday for a lot of people anyway and the guy in New Orleans whose idea this tournament was in the first place said it worked better for him to drive in early Friday and get back earlier Sunday.

I didn't care much either way so I went with that for at least this year. If Sat/Sun works better for you let me know, I'll take feedback on that at the tournament this year and next year may or may not be different. :)
151 10/6/2017 5:56:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Move2: Pope/1 in Franklin picks up the CU in Harper's Ferry, drops both CUs off in AoP (n10) and ends in Manassas. Manassas now Pope/1.

Campaign done.

150 10/5/2017 3:48:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Seems ok to me so carry on with move #2
149 10/5/2017 3:26:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #87: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Union:
Move 1: Activate Rosecrans in Louisville; he moves alone
1. Bloomington,
2. Vernon
3. Cincinnati - picks up Curtis and all 6 SP there
4. Vernon
5. Bloomington
6. Louisville
7. Attack Frankfort

Medium battle. You have no modifier and automatically thus cause 1 loss to me. I have +1 for Rosecrans and +4 for force ratio, so I automatically thus cause 2 or more loss to you. So we each lose 1 and I win and and can keep moving with Rosecrans/Curtis/5

8. move back to Louisville, now Rosecrans/Curtis/11

Before I do move 2, want to make sure you agree with combat result as well as beginning the move with Rosecrans moving alone - based on 5.34 and 5.66 I believe it's legal since no *inactive* general ever had no SP, Rosecrans began and ended the round with SP, and didn't enter an enemy space while moving alone.
148 10/4/2017 1:30:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #96: 2 / Strategy Board
Union player may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general.

Message from Confederate:
Activate Bragg who moves (with Forrest and 2 SP) to Atlanta. Picks up the SP there (n3) and moves on up to join Lee and friends in Somerset, KY. In Somerset are Lee, Bragg, Beauregard, Van Dorn, Forrest and Wheeler along with 8 SPs.
147 10/4/2017 12:42:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Move is finished.
146 10/3/2017 8:55:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Not sure if you finished your move so let me know if you have. Otherwise, continue on.
145 10/3/2017 8:53:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message No intercept.

Planning on coming down for the games. Looks like it is Friday and Saturday rather than Saturday and Sunday?
144 10/3/2017 4:29:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Side note - Millennium Con VITP is officially on the schedule for November 10th/11th. I'll send out an email in the next day or two with details. Hope you can make it. :)
143 10/3/2017 4:28:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #111: 2 / Wilsonís Raid
Union may place two Union PC markers in any spaces within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single Union cavalry brigade. The four space range CAN be traced through Northeast Alabama. These PC Markers (in contravention of rule 11.3D), CAN be placed in blockade runner ports/ and or resource spaces devoid of Confederate SPs or forts (but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes), resulting in their immediate destruction. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Burnside leaves 1 in Cairo and moves out with 5
1 - move to Ironton, drop 1 (n4)
2 - move to St. Louis
3 - take 1 from St. Louis (n5, STL now Fremont/1) and move back to Ironton
4 - move back to Cairo
5 - move to Paducah with 5

do Price and/or Smith wish to intercept?
142 9/30/2017 12:44:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Sorry, I thought the n2 might be confusing - meant to say that bragg still went from 3 to 2 after leaving one in Columbus.

I left one in Columbus and 2 moved on the Newnan with Bragg and Forrest

Sorry about the incorrect DRM - not sure why I was thinking that cavalry helped a corps.
141 9/30/2017 12:38:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message "Leave 1 SP in Columbus (n2) and Bragg/Forrest and 2 SP move"

I'm confused by the "(n2)". If you leave 1 SP in Columbus it should be the only SP there.

So that should be 1 infantry SP in Columbus, 2 infantry SP + 1 cav brigade in Newman?

Or is it 2 infantry SP in Columbus, 1 infantry SP + 1 cav brigade in Newman?

140 9/30/2017 12:36:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message FWIW you only had a +5 as a corps does not add the cavalry general's battle rating. You still achieve a 2* result to my 1 so the battle result is the same.
139 9/29/2017 12:24:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Both lose 1 SP (CSA victory) - Butler to track.

Leave 1 SP in Columbus (n2) and Bragg/Forrest and 2 SP move to Opelika, AL (MP 7) and on to Newman, GA (MP 8) to end the turn

135 9/27/2017 9:51:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #106: 3 / British Clydeside Shipyards
Confederate immediately receives three SPs in any open Blockade Runner Port, no more than one SP per port, but more than one SP per Blockade zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost.

Message from Confederate:
Well, hopefully you're feeling better now. Mono can be pretty bad.

I'll put SPs in Savannah (n1), Charleston (n3 plus Forrest) and New Orleans (n1)
134 9/27/2017 2:51:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #122: 3 / Crisis in the West
If two or more Confederate armies are in Virginia, the Confederate player places (Confederate choice) one army (placed, not moved) in a Confederate controlled Resource space (destroyed or not), Riverine port, or Blockade Runner port (open or closed) in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Sorry for the long delay; turns it was Mono.

PCs in Jefferson City, Lexington, and Kansas City, all Missouri.

133 9/20/2017 2:59:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Not sure if I'll get this today or if it'll be a day or two ... recovering from a nasty virus and the last couple of days I've been sleeping about 15 hours a day :o so I may not have the brainpower to think over the move for a bit

130 9/19/2017 1:14:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message I'm pretty sure the North Atlantic Zone is closed off. You can't come on at Norfolk when the Union controls Fort Monroe. Should result in no SP there and -2 SW -3 for changing fortune, down to 100-
