122 8/31/2017 2:49:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message You got it bro. I'm going out for a bit (baby boy is 30 today, going to celebrate). Will be back late afternoon. There is a real good article on Union play (specifically defending the Northeast)in an old C3i that I think is online. If you can't find it I will scan it and send it to you.
121 8/31/2017 2:46:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message I will be getting Mark Simonitch's new game. I am interest in giving that one a go. I helped playtest it after all.
120 8/31/2017 2:45:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Ok; I am a sucker for punishment. LOL I want the Union again. Going to eat some lunch. Go ahead and set up another game.
119 8/31/2017 2:42:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message It'll show up eventually as it is under construction from what I understand, and GMT won't abandon it. Hey, I just got the Doolittle game from GMT, looks cool, but is solitaire only, although can be played in co-op mode.
118 8/31/2017 2:40:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Dave, two things.
1. That card was VERY lucky for me. You were overcommitted in Kentucky, but you would have pulled it off if Richmond didn't show up. You got doubly unlucky by losing what I assume was your last 3, otherwise you could have immediately rebuilt your army.
2. This is a LONG game, even if you lose D.C. a couple of campaign cards can turn this thing around quickly. What the union really has to watch for is Turn 5 when Jackson shows up the Union needs probably 80-90% of there SP's in the East, with lots of forts to slow things down till U.S. Grant shows up.
3. You definitely don't suck at this game. Well, OK, that's 3 things...
117 8/31/2017 2:40:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message My play in this game is so poor I don't even present a challenge. LOL And I thought I was doing well after that last turn. Heck even with that On to Richmond card you may have wiped me out.

I guess the Union has to just park tons of SP's in the east and just delay the campaign in the west.

Union general roll just for the hell of it.
115 8/31/2017 2:35:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message I am starting to believe that a vassal module for IoG may not ever get done. The designers seems totally disengaged.
114 8/31/2017 2:33:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message This is pretty much over even if you don't take DC this turn. You going to cut my rail link which is going to cut me to 4 SP's.

I concede. One lucky card draw and the game is over.

So the lesson learned is that the Union has to pile tons of SP's in the east through otherwise the rebels use their superior numbers and generals.

I suck at this game totally.
113 8/31/2017 2:26:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Possible general casualty?
112 8/31/2017 2:24:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message You have +4 more for odds so that is 3*/3.

I am eliminated. You have 1 more MP

107 8/31/2017 2:11:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #41: 2 / Gov. Isham Harris, Tennessee Confederate
Confederate immediately places two SPs in any friendly controlled space in Tennessee with a LOC (both SPs are placed in the same space). SPs may not be placed in Pro-Union spaces or one occupied by Union SPs or a fort.

Message from Confederate:
AoNV leave 2 SP in Richmond (n2)
1., 2., 3. Manassas
Intercept?
If no intercept, 4. convert Manassas
5. Attack Frederick with 9 SP
106 8/31/2017 2:09:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Staying in the fort at Fredrick improves my odds a bit but still well close to 80%.
105 8/31/2017 2:06:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Even if I had made an intercept roll with Mac, 1/3 chance, then I had a 50-50 of getting a 3. You would have had +4 for generals +3 for odds in a combat in Manassas. A 3 or better gets you a 3*. Add them all up and its over a 90% shot.
104 8/31/2017 2:01:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Maybe, but you had a 50% chance of a 3, and I only had a 1/6 chance of a 3* in which case I would be in Frederick and you could have had a decent chance of getting AoP back to D.C. (I'm assuming you are only drawing 3 OC cards this game...)
103 8/31/2017 1:59:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #42: 2 / Kentucky Anarchy
Remove up to three enemy PC markers in Kentucky. You must also remove one of your own PC markers from the state if you have any there. Removal of a PC marker makes a space neutral. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Activate Burnside at Grafton.

Take 3 SP's and going through Pitt he picks up 1 SP. n1 left at Pitt and ends move in DC. Now n5
102 8/31/2017 1:53:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message OK, 038 is up, but please check for accuracy.
You are up for next card.
101 8/31/2017 1:49:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message No what I am saying is that you should have went up through Manassas, Fredrick and then DC with your army. Nothing I could have done to stop it and only great dice by me and shitty dice for you would have saved me.
100 8/31/2017 1:48:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Union SW now at 96-
File up in a minute
99 8/31/2017 1:45:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message If I attacked Frederick you could have reestablished supply in Norfolk and I would have never been able to force you out.
You were +4 in Frederick, and I was only +4 attacking. Not a sure thing for me.
With last MP will end move in Richmond (n11)
Union SW -10 for Army, -3 for change fortune
File on the way.

98 8/31/2017 1:42:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Just make the SW adjustment and let me know when you are done. Again not a single thing that I can do just shit horrible luck. You had what a maybe 2% chance of drawing that card. Maybe not even that. If I am going to get beat by those types of odds plus discard a 3 card. LOL
97 8/31/2017 1:39:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Ok; LOL does not really matter. You still have 1 MP and can attack again.
96 8/31/2017 1:36:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I always forget the OOS/General casualty rule.
Dave, you were only +1 in that battle as you had no cavalry. Did not matter though.
Also, AoP is eliminated as you could only retreat to an enemy controlled space. You would have had to retreat to Williamsburg, as that would give you an LOC
95 8/31/2017 1:32:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Why didn't you just march in and take DC? I calculate you had better than a 90% shot.
94 8/31/2017 1:28:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message AoP now has 1 SP retreats to Gordonsville.

AoNV now has 8 SP's and is in Hanover.

88 8/31/2017 12:50:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message There is no way that you can't miss taking DC and that is game over. I'll let you have the joy of taking it but really hardly a confederate victory. When the cards shit on me like that not much to say.
87 8/31/2017 12:47:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message No intercept.
Don't forget Dave, you can convert 3 spaces towards Richmond. You don't have to attack. Eventually you may be able to retreat towards Fort Monroe
86 8/31/2017 12:45:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message Hell there is no way I am going to survive this. Nice card draw.

Message from Union:
Here is my discard.
82 8/31/2017 12:40:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message This might be game over. I have a real problem with this card. There is no way the USA can form two armies this early in the game so best case for me you are going to destroy the army and worst case you take DC and the game is over. Let's see what happens.

A game should not come down to one side getting lucky and a single right card at that right time. Just my opinion.
81 8/31/2017 12:34:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Confederate:
This is the first time I have ever been able to play this card as intended.
I guess you do a random discard, then head south.
80 8/31/2017 12:30:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #30: 3 / Glory Hallelujah
Union immediately receives three SPs for raising Negro troops. The SPs can be placed in any Union controlled space (even one without a LOC) that doesn’t contain a Confederate SP or fort.

Message from Union:

79 8/31/2017 12:29:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Dave, on the strat move thing. The way it was explained to me was an Army in supply can grab SP's from anywhere, railroad not required, as long as there is an LOC. Otherwise it's railroad only, and getting them out of coastal forts is a huge pain...
78 8/31/2017 12:26:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Sorry Dave, was updating my file and missed yours. Corrected version is up now (34)
77 8/31/2017 12:23:00 PM Fall 1861 Union Message I put those USA control flags in WV on my previous file. What happened to them? I had SP's Franklin, Grafton and Wheeling at the end of last turn.
76 8/31/2017 12:15:00 PM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #29: 2 / Crittenden Compromise

73 8/31/2017 11:50:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Dave, this is from the Consimworld site. In the questions section at the top of the page
Q. During the strategic movement phase, can CSA SPs in Coastal fort spaces move to the associated blockade runner port? (3/2002)

A: No, strategic naval movement is not allowed for the CSA player. However, a SP in a Coastal fort could strategically move to a CSA army with a valid LOC to the coastal fort.

72 8/31/2017 11:36:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message I don't think that guy at Fr Sumtner qualifies for strat move. Doesn't he have to use conf river movement to get to land first and then in a later card play or sm segment use the rails?
71 8/31/2017 11:18:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I will not use EITHER of my Major Campaign cards to open the turn, so you may proceed....

45 8/28/2017 11:13:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #102: 3 / First Manassas
Confederate Player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (5 space maximum) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.
