810 9/16/2019 8:31:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Message Move 2 SP from DC (n5 remain) to Ft. Monroe for revised battle result.
809 9/15/2019 9:58:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message So action on you to do something about my 6th MP attack.

You can fix vassal with fort on your move
808 9/15/2019 9:57:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message You are correct, I will leave my move and let you decide if you want to intercept or do something else if that nature.

Thankfully it’s a coastal fort and not a regular fort so it still doesn’t fall for SW and blockade purposes until you place a PC there.

If Lee can successfully clear that force in NC then all will be ok a bit longer
807 9/15/2019 8:03:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message On the amphibious assault on Ft. Monroe, I was calculating the +4 DRM from the net Amphibious Mod of +2 (+4 Amphib Assault Mod – 2 Fort = +2) and the 3-1 SP ratio for another +2 giving the Union +4.

Assuming that is correct, then the Union result from the battle will be 3+4=7 which is a 1* result and a Union victory.

Let me know if you agree with that. If you do agree, then I am ok if you want to revise your move/card play.
806 9/14/2019 10:32:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #46: 1 / Pro Union Secessionist in Tennessee
Union receives two PC markers in any Pro-Union space in Tennessee free of Confederate SPs and forts.

Message from Confederate:
let's activate Lee and the A of Miss, 1st-4th - Williamsburg-Drewey's Bluff-Suffolk-Weldon. 5th convert Weldon-6th attack Goldsboro and the lone SP. Burnside and the army of Tennesse can attempt to intervene. either way, I will use my best generals at +6 DRM For Lee/Stuart/Hill

you may play a cancellation card, INT card or possibly roll for interception. I'm out of MP either way.
805 9/14/2019 10:25:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message I likely will not be able to re-garrison it with so many threats calling for my attention.
804 9/14/2019 10:24:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message 1-1, CSA force eliminated but since it was an AA, you must retreat, AA force n2. fort unoccupied but still in CSA control. AA force back to DC, n7.

Marion SC 1 and Wilmington NC 1 > Fayetteville, n3.
Selma 1 > AOW, n5. 1 from Mobile, n1 > AOW, n6.
Monroe LA > Charleston, n3. that is it.

BTY for your general placement.
791 9/12/2019 12:22:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message it would appear your re-election prospects are just fine and so this game will be decided based upon if you can take enough of my states or possibly drop me to 0 if things really go south.
790 9/11/2019 8:50:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Message No problem. I do my moves the exact same way and have also forgotten to mark SW/VPs/KIAs when trying to rush!
789 9/10/2019 3:28:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message good catch. i will rectify on my next log, guess I was going to fast and i always log a move on ACTs before doing on vassal.
788 9/10/2019 6:03:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message One thing I noticed. In entry 785, you calculated the new SW for the CSA but never marked it on the board. (Should be 77-). I meant to adjust on my turn but forgot to adjust it.

783 9/8/2019 5:00:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message you did everything right on EOT stuff. interesting pickle I'm in. Richmond and Norfolk still support each other for now making them each a supply source but if you can shut down Ft. Monroe then both fail to be supply sources anymore. do i keep hanging on to Richmond or abandon it and fall back.
782 9/3/2019 6:34:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Message No worries! I have 3 games of GCACW going now, so I have plenty of gaming in my life! That said, I am anxious to see what happens in our game! Richmond is cut off but surely Stonewall won't just sit idly on the side lines!!

772 8/19/2019 9:58:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Thank you for those rules clarifications. It makes sense about the SP loss for Morgan.

So many things to do. I really really want to burn Nashville. However, the American people are getting sick of war. Only the boldest strokes can save the Union now!

McPherson will retreat to DC and Join the AoT (n8)
771 8/19/2019 1:26:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message i updated the log. then you just need to decide where you want to put the retreating force as well and then do your dirty deeds with last 2 cards.
770 8/19/2019 1:21:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message you are right that Sheridan doesn't come back since he hadn't turned himself into a cav general/1 SP. however, the extra SP isnt' removed for me losing MOrgan since i lost troops in teh battle and therefore i can use one of those SP losses to fulfill that per rules. only time i have to put SPs on the track is if I don't lose enough troops to satisfy the cav SP total of a cav general in battle or if I get ambush card played adnd just a general dies.
769 8/18/2019 9:26:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message I am going to need to sleep on my next move. If you think I was in error either with the 1 SP for Morgan's passing or my interpretation that Sheridan is gone for good since he was not a cav general when he was killed, let me know!
768 8/18/2019 7:07:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message That was not one I wanted to get it!!

I assume that since Sheridan was not a Cav general, he does not come back next turn. Not what I needed at all!
767 8/18/2019 7:05:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Die roll request Request: 6-sided die x 1

Message from Union:
Morgan is killed. So, Armstrong would go to the track although in this case, he doesn’t since the game will be over in three turns. After reading the rule, it sounds like 1 SP should go to the track to return on your next reinforcement phase. However, I’m not sure if this rule still applies if the Cav general was part of an Army. So if you think I have it wrong, let me know and I’ll place the SP back with the AoW.

Now for the Union:

Roll d6 to see who gets it:

Jackson whups Sheridan 3*-1. AOW, n4. Sheridan n5 and must sail away with tail between his legs.

My move has to be done but I'll leave general casualty roll to you in case you wanted to play an interrupt card. I'll lose a general 50/50 and you on 1 only.

762 8/18/2019 1:23:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message As I recall, I had good luck with my last discard card as well. Trying to hold on! I created a Vassal log for my last move. I also noticed that there was a Union PC marker a Sabine City and removed it. That must be old! So take your time and continue when you are ready...
761 8/18/2019 11:57:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #7: 1 / Mud March
Interrupt enemy force currently moving to no more than one space of movement. (Converting a space counts as movement.) Applies to only one move during a Major or Minor campaign card, but not a special army-naval move.

Message from Confederate:
well i'm not sure this is best use of this card. I really wanted to launch an attack with campaign to do both Hardee and someone else but now it will have to be Jackson.

deciding if i'm taking all troops with him. you have no friendly adjacent space to retreat to except by sea so you could decide to evade which i doubt you would want to
760 8/18/2019 11:11:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Of course it is :(
759 8/18/2019 11:11:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Discard random Strategy card Operations - 3 / Minor Campaign

758 8/18/2019 11:10:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Thus is very bad. Two moves unopposed for you and I was saving a great card to play. I figured I would play it second to last in the event you had a discard to target my last card but I was too late
757 8/18/2019 8:51:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #25: 1 / Confederate Railroad Degradation
The Union player may randomly remove one strategy card from the Confederate hand, which is discarded.

Message from Union:
Well, let’s try this. It’ll be nice to have the closing moves.

I am not at home right now, so no Vassal update yet. I’ll update the Vassal file this afternoon.
756 8/18/2019 1:26:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #54: 1 / CSS Virginia

754 8/16/2019 9:12:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #124: 2 / Confederate Desertion
During a Union player’s turn cause a Confederate force to immediately execute an attrition procedure plus conduct Forage if force has no LOC. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
I'll reduce the Army of the West by 2 SPs (n5)

BTY for card 5...
753 8/16/2019 9:11:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Yeah, I am a little disappointed in General Sheridan. I think Hood got to him a bit.
752 8/15/2019 1:52:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #50: 1 / CSS Sumter, Commerce Raider
Union SW reduced by one.

Message from Confederate:
tough decision here, I either lash out at the garrison ready to burn Macon but then leave your potent force between me and the feisty Hood or re-unit. I shall re-unite and gain Hood who is much better off as an able subordinate than independent command. AOW leaves 2 SP behind, n4. Moves 6 MPs to Opelika AL and joins Hood and 3 SPs; n7.

BTY
751 8/15/2019 1:44:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Way to go JB Hood! Granted, his 6 didn't change anything but I like to think it might have psyched Sheridan out :P

Back to you for card 4…
749 8/10/2019 10:43:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Pathetic. I guess I did not really need to roll for Hood. Result is 1-1, Hood loses 1 sp and holds
Sheridan loses 1 SP and retreats back to Columbus with 5 SPs (n8 in Columbus).

723 7/26/2019 5:21:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message good news, sorry for delays. I am agonizing every time i pull up the map about what to do with this 2nd activation. i need to make the most of it.
722 7/26/2019 3:54:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Hi Jonathan. I want to let you know that I am back home from vacation now. So, no need to mess with .png files or anything going forward.
721 7/23/2019 9:28:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message No .png file needed. I will not play an interrupt card so you may continue with your second move when ready...
720 7/23/2019 1:49:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #99: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Confederate:
Jackson takes morgan and all 6 SPs and makes a mad dash south. moving exclusively along rail down to August GA. thanks to the Danville to Greensboro connection finished in 1864 turn.

do you need the PNG to determine if you will block that with a card play or not? There is no interception opportunity even wtih 2 space intercept so only a mud march or empty haversacks would work.
719 7/19/2019 9:42:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message If you are willing to save some .png files for me then that will work out well. I for the Corps, I usually move the generals to the side so that you can see the number of SPs in each Corps. You can save the log files like that if you wish as well to save a little time.

Based on your last message I will wait for you to play a campaign card or pass the initiative to me!

718 7/19/2019 9:30:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Draw Strategy cards 7 cards drawn.

717 7/17/2019 6:40:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message I can definitely do that, would like to continue as much as you are able of course. we are in the homestretch and this is a first for me being this deep where both sides are well over 40 SW.

I think I'm going to claim initiative and play a campaign. i hate giving you last go round this season but I need to get men down south before you ravage half of GA and AL.
716 7/16/2019 8:48:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message I have my cell phone with me. So if you were willing to save the log files as .png files (using the camera icon in the Vassal menu) land load them into the Dropbox folder, and physically enter my moves into from ACTS into Vassal, we could probably continue to play our game. I would still not be able to make moves at the same rate that I can at home, but I could most likely make a few over the next two weeks using ACTS.

Your choice, if you prefer to simply take a break or will be busy yourself, then no problem, we can resume upon after I get back!
