326 6/16/2018 7:28:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #37: 2 / Confederate Scientist
Confederate immediately receives three SPs in any friendly controlled space with a LOC, free of Union SPs or forts. No more than one SP per confederate controlled state. No SPs may be placed in Pro-Union spaces.

Message from Union:
Using Ops Queue, Activate AoP w/ McD, Stoneman, Butler, Halleck and 3 sp. Leave other generals + 6 sp at Gettysburg.

1. Chambersburg, pick up 2 sp (n5)
2. Gettysburg, pick up all generals and 6 sp (n11)
3. Baltimore

Reaction? Otherwise, AoP will continue…
325 6/16/2018 7:27:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message In my games as the CSA, my opponent did a great job of making me fight on many fronts pressuring in the north, in Mobile, and on the Mississippi. At one point, I actually had more MP than him on the board, but not enough in the east. He was able to have on army run unopposed down the eastern seaboard and destroy resource centers. Blockade level also reached 5 so reinforcements impacted (especially in the east) and SW was falling fast. I actually took DC and was hoping to hold out to the fall of 64 but ran out of SW that summer. So, 0-4 in the tourney. I’ll call it a good learning experience. My opponents were all great personality-wise so it was a great experience from that perspective.

I see that you had a game against Tim T. He was solid and crushed me in my first game. Of course, I had a 12 SP army in the Shenandoah which was completely destroyed when it was trapped and unable to retreat. I think somebody was demoted for that. Not good for moral!

324 6/15/2018 1:35:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #8: 1 / 3 Cigars
Play this card to make an automatic one or two space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during intercept.

Message from Confederate:
activate Jackson and 2 SP in Morehead City. move 3 MP to Weldon and grab 1, n3. 4th, 5th - to Norfolk and grab 1, n4. 6th-10th (using RR only for bonus) - Suffolk-Petersburg-Richmond-Hanover-Fredericksburg/A of Miss and halt, combined n9
323 6/15/2018 1:20:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message how did your second round finish out? i had to have my game decided and it was narrow decision for CSA. i wasn't decisive enough with him haveing 3 strong armies in field and i didn't do enough to whittle down his SW. would have been fun to finish but my opponent never responded to request to try to finish on our own.
322 5/18/2018 1:57:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message i like seeing an OPs queue to prepare me. but tough call what to do here. i want to keep the hammerlock on DC but too many bullets and not enough Rebel bodies.
321 5/17/2018 8:53:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #50: 1 / CSS Sumter, Commerce Raider

311 4/28/2018 8:26:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #99: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Union:
First Move, Activate the AoP.

1. Leave 5 sp in Gettysburg, York.
2. Philadelphia, pick up 3 sp (n9)
3. York
4. Gettysburg, pick up 5 sp (n14)
5. Baltimore

Reaction? US will fight with max DRM +3.
310 4/28/2018 10:54:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Your move still :)
309 4/28/2018 10:53:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message Let me know how it plays out. I took DC but Longstreet couldn’t hold Manasass and I am now trapped a la Yorktown in DC.
308 4/28/2018 9:36:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message My game as CSA is going ok. Made it to 1864. DC was blocked off throughout 1863 although Blockade level has been at 4+ since 1962. US played a card to gain last move and has a big army in WV poised to attack. I am a little out of position with armies in Harrisburg and Manassas. Its bound to be an exciting spring.

Nice to hear you are pressing as CSA.

My initial realization with all FtP games so far is defending DC is tough! US player needs to be very aware of all of the CSA's possible avenues of attack during initial turns!
307 4/27/2018 2:05:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #126: 1 / Valley Devastation
If Union infantry SPs occupy all three Shenandoah Valley spaces the Union player places a destroyed Resource marker in all Shenandoah Valley spaces. These destroyed Resource markers cannot be removed and prevent the Confederate player from using the Shenandoah valley as a supply source for the remainder of the game. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
reorganize my generals.
Jackson moves 10 spaces to Morehead City, NC
Smith moves by rail to Nashville
Polk and Longstreet over 1 space to AONV
Bragg via rail down to Winchester, MS
306 4/27/2018 1:53:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message actually you do have Ft. Fisher. log 13 of ACTs, you took it in first turn.
305 4/26/2018 11:54:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Message no the PC shouldn't be there. how is your game going? my union game is going slower but my CSA game has taken a turn for the better. i almost took DC twice and the third time might be the charm as i have the AONV and Longstreet's small corp standing between the relief AOP coming to aid DC via WV and the AOM down to 1 SP stuck in DC after i cut off rail reinforcements last turn so they only got 4 SP in PA.
304 3/31/2018 5:57:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #31: 2 / Contraband of War

300 3/31/2018 5:08:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Message Lost in my game as US. Doing OK in my game as CSA. Dropped a 2 space interception on my opponent as he was traversing CSA territory, forced him to fight OOS, achieved 6 losses +1 for his retreat. I attacked again on my turn, he rolled very well (6 v 2) and cause me a bit of damage as well. But I was was able to even the SP count in the east somewhat. Blockade level is already at 4 in Fall 62, so I need to press somewhere pretty fast. Could use some reinforcement cards (Who can't!!)

How are your games going?
299 3/30/2018 1:42:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message i will not be campaigning so your up after placing generals.

288 3/15/2018 6:21:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message My opponent didn't seem to know that if I took Baltimore and Frederick then DC would be cut off. I did get 1 reinforcement card. US has since reestablished the LOC and receive 3 reinforcement cards. However, I have a good size army poised to strike again.
287 3/14/2018 2:32:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message nice work on your two games in tourney. how were you able to cut off DC early? did Union not build forts, did you get a nice concentration card, etc?
286 3/14/2018 2:31:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message back to you for force placement and you only get 4 SPs in east zone this time and not in DC
285 3/14/2018 2:17:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message doing all the end of turn goodness now in separate log. what a fun and wild game this has been Atlanta burned in '62 and Pope and Rosie driving to Gulf but Lee and JJ are knocking on Lincoln's door!
284 3/14/2018 2:12:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message sorry for delay again 5th MP converts Annapolis.

drop 1 (n5) and 6th MP returns to Baltimore to join that SP (n6) and finish for the turn
283 3/6/2018 8:49:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message As far as our game is concerned, no reaction. You may continue...
282 3/6/2018 8:31:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message You have no luck against those campaign cards! I happy to announce that in my game as the US, I was able to play a Major Campaign, pretty much liberate Kentucky, and then play Emancipation. Still spring of '62, so that should bode well for long term SW.

In my game as the CSA, I used a similar play to your early play in this game and cut DC off from the North. Nice to reduce the US by 4 SPs early in the game!!
281 3/6/2018 1:25:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message - and actually before we head over to Annapolis we are going to leave 1 SP behind there
- so 1 left in Baltimore, AOM n6 heading to Annapolis
280 3/6/2018 1:23:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message A of Miss (7 SP) 1st MP is to convert Baltimore, leave 1 SP behind just to block an interception in Baltimore and 2nd MP goes to Frederick to drop off Jackson and pick up Polk, Longstreet and Van Dorn. 3rd MP back to Baltimore to rejoin that 1 SP. 4th MP to Annapolis, MD. reaction?
279 3/6/2018 1:19:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #122: 3 / Crisis in the West
If two or more Confederate armies are in Virginia, the Confederate player places (Confederate choice) one army (placed, not moved) in a Confederate controlled Resource space (destroyed or not), Riverine port, or Blockade Runner port (open or closed) in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Problem with assaulting DC is there is a really good chance whether i fight medium or large battle table that you can at least tie me even if i max out 10+ on CRT and the capital space will break the tie :(

activate A of Miss, Lee is closer than he has ever been to striking a glorious blow for his home state of VA and the rebel cause.
278 3/6/2018 1:15:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message well done, there is a now a Union force ready to be re-supplied on my southern coast.

i would like to try to kick them out but i think i have no choice but to go for a death blow up north.
277 3/6/2018 1:07:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message my games are in their infancy in this second round.

as the CSA once again my opponent has drawn a campaign card in each of the first two game turns and now we head into fall with him having forced my AONV back to guard supply lines of Richmond with hist last campaign manuever and of course, i suffered the loss of Ft. St. P/J losing denial of naval control across the MS river which happens pretty much every game it seems like as teh CSA.

one word of advice that i'm sure you know but just in case. don't let the CSA keep KY. that state is second only to DC in importance. KY gives them a crucial defense against the resource spaces of Nashville and Memphis and of course they provided a huge SW boost that makes it much easier to pull off foreign intervention. Good luck!

oh and as for my Union game, it has been very slow but i haven't lost any border states and even managed to take a coastal fort plus push back AONV off of Manassas at least in the summer. that game is going slower and my OPs cards have been very poor mostly so i'm building up defenses (i did get washington defenses which gave me 3 forts near DC!).
276 2/28/2018 3:58:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #59: 2 / Farragut
Union may make a naval more with up to three SPs plus one general. Move may pass one ungarrisoned fort without “running the guns” to conduct an amphibious assault (may not pass an ironclad). Ignore first torpedo encountered during naval move. If the port space is captured it immediately receives a Union PC marker. Add +2 to Running the Guns die roll.

Message from Union:

275 2/28/2018 3:52:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message I have only started one of my two games so far. The first has started pretty quietly as far as Battles. However, the CSA took Kentucky (I am the US). How are you round two games going?
274 2/27/2018 1:29:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #54: 1 / CSS Virginia
Confederate may place one Ironclad in a controlled port or coastal fort space.

I won’t be at computer for awhile. What DRM do I get if I use my best Generals and do I have a fort there? I will definitely be standing my ground but I have to decide on generals
268 2/17/2018 7:45:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #78: 3 / Personal Advisor
Either player may remove or demote from army command one general for no SW penalty. Penalties for promoting a general with a lower political value still apply. OR remove ANY non-commanding general (even second in commands) from the game.

Message from Union:
Activate AoP w/7 sp. Leave 2 sp, Curtis in Gettysburg.

1. Baltimore to attack AoMiss.

Reaction?

I believe US is +2. You can roll it.
267 2/17/2018 7:06:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message No Problem on the timing. I also have 2 other games going right now with a third starting soon and am getting plenty of FtP. Congrats on going 1-1 in your first round, that keeps you alive for the knockout round! I lost 1 and am going to lose another, but it has been a good learning experience. I still occasionally make illegal moves, but everybody has been very friendly and think I'm about 98% up to speed with the game play. My goal is to get a win in the next round.

Message from Confederate:
Medium battle of Ft. Monroe. AOM/11 SP vs Butler and 3 SPs at the fort.

CSA DRM: +2 force +8 Lee/Jackson/Morgan for guaranteed 10+ and 3* SPs killed.

US DRM: +2 fort

roll only for US and then a casualty check on Butler at 1 only. 1/6 chance that Butler takes 3 SPs of the South with him.
240 12/12/2017 12:32:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message and on 2nd thought, i'm not leaving Jackson behind before this battle.
239 12/12/2017 12:32:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #5: 1 / Dysentery
The person playing the card may remove one enemy SP from any space that contains more than one SP.

Message from Confederate:
Activate Lee and his AOM (10 SP).
1st-move to Richmond pick up Wheeler/cav SP (n11) (n1 in Richmond) also drop Stonewall Jackson off there.
2nd & 3rd to Williamsburg then attack Butler and his 3 SPs at Ft. Monroe. there is no interception rolls for Butler and I assume you wouldn't use an INT card on him so I will go ahead and roll for combat and if you had a card that you wanted to use we can just go back and rewind to this point.

It will be 11 vs 3;medium battle.
238 12/12/2017 12:19:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I really wanted to march on the capital with Lee's AOM this impulse but if Curtis successfully intercepted me then I woudl be almost assured the loss since Asterisks don't count against capital spaces.

I think i'm going to lance the boil on the VA's ass known as Butler.
237 12/11/2017 10:06:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Hmm, Washington is ripe for the taking Now but I think I need to bring up reserves
236 12/11/2017 8:23:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Result is 1/2 CSA Victory. AoT (n8) retreats back to DC. AoNMV (n6) occupies Frederick.

Message from Union:
No detached cavalry card, so I will roll it.
Medium Battle of Frederick.

1. US +1
2. CSA +6
234 12/11/2017 8:14:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message OK, that makes sense. In my tourney game, my opponent was talking about changing his DRM based upon my attack. He must have been doing the same thing (i.e. choosing different generals to conserve potential casualties).
233 12/11/2017 12:13:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Huzzah! JJ and teh entire AONV rides in and absorbs the 2 SPs and Pemberton (n7 total).

I'm going to play a little risky and use some worse generals as I already have the following DRM:
+2 fort +2 Interception +2 JJ def (have to use commanding general)
so for my 2 subordinates i will use Polk and Van Dorn and add 0 defense for subordinates.
total CSA DRM +6. i risk rolling a 7 result for only 2 SP killed but that would still likely be enough to win and it mkes the odds of me keeping a general healthy better.

only way i will change this general allocation is if you play something like detached cavalry.
will leave to you to decide if you have a card to play and if not then you can roll combat.

Can JJ ride to the rescue of the hapless Pemberton.
4 or less and AONV rides in.
231 12/11/2017 12:05:00 AM Summer 1862 Confederate Message always best to leave some low attack and defense stooges as generals with Lee since they can soak up general casaulties and give you opportunities to use them as subordinates when you want to keep your DRM down.
230 12/9/2017 6:32:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message In response to your post in Entry #228, I did not think about your second point (i.e. killing off you best generals if you have only good ones grouped together). I'm facing that in my tournament game as the CSA now. Hate to lose Lee or Longstreet early in a game!
229 12/4/2017 9:44:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #2: 2 / Copperheads
Reduce Union SW by two points, or place two PC markers in Ohio (must be placed in spaces free of Union SPs).

Message from Union:
Activate Burnside (AoT) w/ 5 sp (4 sp remian in DC)

1. Baltimore
2. York, pick up 2 sp (n7)
3. Baltimore, drop of 1 sp and Curtis (n6 in Baltimore), pick up Buell

4. DC pick up 4 sp (n10)
5. Frederick
