950 1/21/2020 10:21:00 AM Spring 1865 Confederate Message Ok cool! You can delete this game now if you want since we both have the epic-ness saved.
949 1/20/2020 8:17:00 PM Spring 1865 Union Message No worries! I am not worried about any info on Dropbox. I was only making a joke about ďbackingĒ up the log up on my own hard drive. I suspect that in todayís world, any important files that one may have are actually safer on Dropbox compared oneís own hard drive. I see you set the new game up. I should be ready to get rolling tonight or tomorrow.
948 1/20/2020 4:41:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message confirmed, it just shows Civil War JvJ at top and then players are referred to as 'Confederate' or 'Union'.
947 1/20/2020 4:41:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message What do you mean by safer on Drop box? are you ok with me having it on DB? I don't think it has your name on it anywhere.
946 1/19/2020 12:13:00 PM Spring 1865 Union Message Same here. I copied the entire game and vassal log down to my hard drive. It's no doubt safer out on dropbox but that is a different discussion...
945 1/18/2020 11:48:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message I've archived teh entire game log since it was so epic, may some day do a replay of it or AAR I think.

Will respond to you tomorrow and start up a new game with me as the Union and see if I can't even the score. I've greatly enjoyed this fierce battle and it's crazy that we went the distance over 2 years.
944 1/13/2020 10:42:00 AM Spring 1865 Confederate Message Well done. Was so busy trying to force you out of Charleston that I forgot about leaving Troops in North Carolina. Congrats on your victory. Im not ready to take on a new rules set (GCACW) would you be open to playing again on FTP, I can move more often and switch sides?

Congrats on your victory, it was well deserved
943 1/12/2020 10:32:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #91: 2 / Letters of Marque
Increase Confederate SW by 1. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
activate the AoC.

1. Fayetteville with all generals, SPs

Any Cards to play in reaction?

If not, move 2 will be to place PC in Fayetteville destroying the resource space and reducing the CSA SW to 0.

Let me know if you have a card to play or you see any issues with my retreat from the last battle.
942 1/12/2020 10:24:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message
Actually, it looks like I missed a loss. the AoP loses an additional SP because it retreated to a space controlled by the CSA.

So AoP 9SP -1 = 8 SP

The AoM must stop in Branchville because it was not 2x the AoP in SP.

Probably a bad move on my part. I should have stayed in Charleston. I would have lost the +2 intercept, but assuming I could reach a modified 8, I would have won the battle and been sitting in Charleston already.

I am going to go ahead and play my next card. If anything is amiss, we can go back and correct it.
941 1/11/2020 11:49:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message McPherson, not my first choice by any means.

AoP retreats to Savannah and I believe that the AoM must stop in Branchville and your turn is over.

Let me know if everything looks good (retreat spot, battle result, etc.), then I'll play my next card.

No problem, I can do that.

So with a +7DRM for the CSA, the results was 3*/3, CSA victory.

AoP SP: 12-3=9
AoM SP: 7-3=4

You get to choose where I retreat to. I will assume that you would have me retreat to Savannah. I will move there and if you prefer a different location, than you can let me know.

roll d6 for US Casualty:1-3 = KIA
938 1/11/2020 10:41:00 AM Spring 1865 Confederate Message In the meantime, if you want to roll for your general casualty check please do, I cannot lose a general since you were out of supply
937 1/11/2020 10:41:00 AM Spring 1865 Confederate Message Are yes, indeed there is a ray of hope. I forgot about that little detail of our of supply.
When I get back to my computer I will look at the map and figure out what to do, Iím still on life-support
936 1/11/2020 7:54:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message Now that I look at the board, I think Fayetteville is also exposed and will require a 2 space intercept card to defend. There are challenges going forward for the CSA. That said, I am fine either way, we can play it out or stop. You choice, sir...
935 1/11/2020 7:43:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message Maybe a ray of hope for the Freedom loving people of the Confederacy: I think your DRM is +7 because I am out of supply in this battle yielding you an additional +2 DRM. Do you agree? If so, then I think you will able to pick my retreat location (I forgot about that little detail when I planned my move).

If you agree and want to play it out, then lets continue. I have not looked at the board yet to see what the options are but if you still find that there is no way out for the CSA and want to end here then I am ok as well. I know Charleston and Augusta are vulnerable. Take a look and let me know if you want to continue or not...
934 1/10/2020 6:13:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message GG all you have to do is go burn Charleston or even other things and game is over. if i could have made you retreat then since it would be a priority 5 or 6 i would actually get to pick your retreat destination but it was not to be :(
933 1/10/2020 6:13:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message gah, a dagger in the heart. 9-10+ for a 2*-3 result. You hold and there is no point doing anything else.

931 1/8/2020 6:17:00 PM Spring 1865 Union Message Good to get that roll out of the way before the interception.

Interception successful. The AoP will use its best General for DRMs +6 for Generals, +2 for intercept.

I assume that you will use you best generals as well but I will let you confirm and roll for the battle.

929 1/8/2020 5:38:00 PM Spring 1865 Union Message We had a great New Year. I also enjoyed the Christmas break and had a nice 10 days off from the office.

However, I am a little envious of someone who has a nephew and a brother in law who plays wargames (even if it is only light ones)! That is great. I am the only one in my or my wifeís family, so I am forced to get almost all of my play done online!

I totally understand your situation as far as making late-night-moves. This game will be a nice feather in both of our caps Ė having played for over 2 years now! It shows we can stick to something and get it done!
928 1/7/2020 12:21:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message 2nd thru 5th: Old Hundred-Camden SC-Columbia SC-Branchville SC. Here the AOP can intercept. Do you have an intercept card, interruption card, etc or do you want to roll for it? log up so far with move.
927 1/7/2020 12:19:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #126: 1 / Valley Devastation
If Union infantry SPs occupy all three Shenandoah Valley spaces the Union player places a destroyed Resource marker in all Shenandoah Valley spaces. These destroyed Resource markers cannot be removed and prevent the Confederate player from using the Shenandoah valley as a supply source for the remainder of the game. Remove from deck if event is played.

926 1/7/2020 12:13:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message a campaign card would have been killer
925 1/7/2020 12:09:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message did you have a good New Year's? i didn't get much online playing done. didnt' have the energy but did get some fun face to face light war games in with my nephew and brother in law. a coupel tiems i loaded the last log but i think the only way to possibly forestall you wining on your next impulse is to immediately boost my morale which wont' last long since you will just go wrecking my space in Charleston and bring it crashing back. not sure there is a move for me that works.
924 12/26/2019 7:27:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message I hope you guys had and are having a very Merry Christmas! It must be fun with the little guy this year!

That Grant is a slimy dude, but these wars get ugly after a few years when the administration is desperate! :)

Thanks for confirming my interpretation. In general the rules are pretty clear, but I would not have been surprised if there was something forcing a battle when a Capital or resource space is involved.
923 12/23/2019 10:35:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message You clever devil. I didnít even think of that. Looks like you are going to take thus one. Capitals done prevent overrun, just forts
922 12/23/2019 9:19:00 PM Spring 1865 Union Message Grant Continues...

2. Charlotte
3. Chester
4. Columbia
5. Branchville
6. Charleston

I believe that this is an overrun attack. I checked the rules and the Consimworld forum to see if I could find anything on overruns vs Capitals/Resource spaces but did not turn up anything. The rules state that a fort prevents an overrun but did not say anything about Capitals or Resource spaces. I will assume that there is no battle here and continue, but if you think that is not correct then I'll roll/correct/redo if needed.

Assuming, an overrun occurs, then Mr. Davis is put into flight. Resource space is not destroyed because Grant does not have PC of the space.

However, CSA SW takes hit for loss of capital.

CSA SW:18- -15 = 3-

Let me know if you see any issues with anything here. Otherwise, BTY for CSA card play...
921 12/23/2019 7:06:00 PM Spring 1865 Confederate Message Ok, you may continue. If you come in striking range, things might change.

918 12/23/2019 11:12:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message OK, 1865, here we go! It should be a wild finish!

Hancock will join the AoC in Goldsboro.

917 12/23/2019 8:23:00 AM Spring 1865 Union Message Glad to hear you completed your project even a bit under the weather. I am also off until Jan 2 so I should be able to get some cards played. It has been an epic but excellent journey!

As far as GCACW is concerned, I am still plying. The BPA has an online tournament going and I am still alive, so that is fun. I also am in the middle of a campaign game (Roads to Gettysburg). Love the system and will absolutely be able to lend support/play a game if you want. I owe you one for taking the time to teach me the ropes on this game!! RTG II is a good choice and well worth the investment. Lots of game included there. I have added SWJ II and BAC to my collection.

900 11/25/2019 2:15:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message we will do this for each CSA and US to minimize FOW flipping per each phase. Union does get any border states, they do lose -5 -3 FOW for IL getting raided by the daring Longstreet. Now => 62-

CSA will take it's raid first for +5. that's +5 +2 FOW but then I lost VA going to Yankees -15 -3 FOW (net -11 and going negative again) => 27-

3rd sub phase. War Weariness and War Guilt each for the Union an dCSA. -5 for each. Union n 57-; CSA n22-. Lincoln wins re-election by a narrow but not razor thin margin.

Thank you for looking up that retreat rule. That was helpful. I am assuming that the commanding general would still be eligible as a casualty, since this is still part of the campaign. I checked consimworld to look for a clarification to confirm but did not find anything.

893 11/13/2019 2:06:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message ok 7.22 McDowell can stand and fight or auto retreat. how do you want to handle this? you can roll battle if you stand and fight since i have to use the only 2 subordinates i have for +6
892 11/13/2019 2:03:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message ok. 4th MP-convert Jonesborough. 5th-attack McDowell and his 4 SPs left (AOT has 9).

Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5.

875 10/9/2019 6:28:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Message More bad news for the Union Generals! Thomas joins Little Mac, Sheridan, and Butler by making the ultimate sacrifice. That one will surely hurt.

As far as the AoMís SPs are concerned, if you look at your entry #855, you will see that after the large battle, the AoM lost 4 SPs and were down to 3 SP (not 4).

I donít think that impacts the latest battle results at all since Stuart was successful in his interception. However, assuming the AoM had only 3 SPs before the battle in Fayetteville, I believe that there would only be 4 SPs with the AoM after the AoW dropped off reinforcements.

Take a look and let me know if you agree. If you do, then I am ok if you want to revise Jacksonís last move to distribute the SPs in a different fashion.

874 10/9/2019 10:25:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #20: 3 / Union Arms Production Delayed

Message from Confederate:
let's attempt that intercept. Stuart needs a 4 or less.
866 10/9/2019 10:01:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message i have 4 SPs in the army of Miss already so you will not be getting the force ratio even if I do not intercept.

i'm debating the intercept still.
865 10/9/2019 9:13:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message The plot thickens, will have to look and study before I react
864 10/9/2019 5:30:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message Ok,Ok. I didn't really think that you'd intercept but had to ask just to be sure. I'll leave and SP there now and save us the time.

4. leave 1 SP (n6), New Bern. pu 2 SP (AoC n8, AoT n1)
5. Goldsboro, pu 1 SP (n9)
6. Fayetteville

in case of battle, Billy will be +8 including the +2 Force Ratio. That will obviously change (to +6) if Stuart intercepts.

BTY for reaction/resolution...
863 10/8/2019 11:24:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message We arenít taking the bait Billy. Keep marching around. If you turn and attack me in Fayetteville then I will have to decide if I want to attempt an interception or not by Stuart

858 10/7/2019 2:03:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #61: 3 / Ship Island/Key West
Union Blockade Level is increased by one. In addition, if Fort Philip/Jackson does not contain a CSA SP place a friendly PC marker in that space.

Message from Confederate:
activate Van Dorn and his 1 SP. 6 MPs to Fayetteville. pu 1 SP/JEB Stuart, n2. 7th to Old Hundred NC, drop Stuart/1 SP, move back and at my discretion taking advantage of the rule that Van Dorn can becomea cavalry brigade/general. huzzah!

this move will just remove and then put back 1 SP in Army of Miss.

857 10/6/2019 2:50:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Not having any forts left in stock sucks. I get one back next turn

Reduce Union SW by two points, or place two PC markers in Ohio (must be placed in spaces free of Union SPs).

Message from Union:
First, you are correct about the Union PC markers. Thanks for fixing.

activate the AoC
1. Convert Goldsboro
2. leave 1 sp (n9), move to New Bern, pu 3 sp (AoC n12, AoT n3)
3. Goldsboro, pu SP (n13)
4. Fayetteville

reaction? in case of battle, AoC will use everybody +6
852 10/5/2019 5:55:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #59: 2 / Farragut
Union may make a naval more with up to three SPs plus one general. Move may pass one ungarrisoned fort without ďrunning the gunsĒ to conduct an amphibious assault (may not pass an ironclad). Ignore first torpedo encountered during naval move. If the port space is captured it immediately receives a Union PC marker. Add +2 to Running the Guns die roll.

Message from Confederate:
let's move some generals: PGT B > AOW, Van Dorn > Charleston, FL; Hardee > A of Tenn; Price > AOW
