I took a while to check that the river crossing and attack was legal, so please confirm. The other two attacks are straightforward. You can look it over tomorrow and proceed. You can be AP next game, me and Monty are done! File is up, as usual I had to retreat a bunch of guys to cover my flanks...If I make it to Arnhem I think I'm only going to have 1 Battalion left to advance.

Battle Hex B was A1/D1, I failed my DD, but you still need to lose a step. I retreated to 6220 disrupted and down to one step.
Battle Hex C; was also A1/D1, I知 eliminated in the successful DD, which was 0/1, so you still need to select a step loss there, but it need not be the armor step. As I was looking at the city did table.

At BH A. I lose a step so will eliminate the fortress unit.

At BH B Result is A1-D1. We select our own losses. You then failed the DD so had to retreat 2 hexes with 1 step left. That would put you back to 6418 and disrupted. I would get a normal advance.

At C the result was A1/D1. You would go down to 1 step and I lose a step. You then tried a DD. You rolled a 3 and you get +1 for an elite unit in the other column. A 4 in that column is 0/1. That means the your last step is lost and I can't advance because the DD was successful.

File 44 up for your next move.

Crap! I made a mistake. You get to pick the unit on a 1/0, so you can bring the armored unit back on the far left and just flip an infantry unit.

Hey, I think we are having some map issues. I uploaded 042 .vsav
This shows the position before your advance after combat. You had one of my retreated units in the wrong hex (the disrupted one). Also, you need to lose 3 steps from those attacks, and I just read that a successful DD lets me pick your losses. This can really help with those damned tanks!

My apologies, did not see the arty! Further, it IS a town, and I was using the city defense. I did this before at Groesbeek, but it didn't matter as I rolled a 6. Given the importance of the hex however I would still do a DD, so I am eliminated, but no advance. Go ahead and do your advances and step losses and I'll see where we are at.

Also you are sitting in a town hex not a city hex. Over to you to decided on a DD.

But if those bridges had blown, totally different story.

My apologies, I'm brain dead and did not see the last bullet in 11.5. That certainly trumps my reference.
New file uploaded with returnee put back in box. I also fixed the 101 guy that needed to move.
As far as your assessment of the game, it wasn't so much the number of spans that stood so much as the spans across the main highway which is allowing me to move all these 30 corps guys halfway across the map in one turn. But this was really just a learning game for both of us. I'm happy to do a restart and/or switch sides now that we are pretty solid on the rules.

Ok on the # of returnee's. As I look at this more and more this or any game looks like a pretty hopeless situation for the Germans unless ALL of the key bridges blow and even then it is going to be very hard to eliminate enough allied units to counter act the VP's the allies are going to get by taking hexes.

The only shot I see for the Germans is to totally eliminate the British north of the Rhine and that looks to be a very long stretch.

Dave, looking over the log it looks like the 1 AB lost steps in both landings (Entry 18 and 100 in the log). As far as I can tell I only took one RP previously and took the second in the current logfile. The RP table shows 0 left in the current logfile. Let me know if you confirm.

11.5 doesn't mention engaged units not being able to take replacements. I'm going by 22.7 for retunees just needing the unit to be in good order (not disrupted)and having a path to their supply head.

The other thing that I noticed is how is there a 1AB replacement left. If you go back and look 7KOSB/1A lost a step on landing which gave the 1AB a RP. However you took it to get that unit back to full strength at some point yet the RP still remains on the track. I think you should have 0 at this point.

Please advise.
