60 11/19/2017 11:57:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Ken, OK, concession accepted. Thanks. Robert Sohn

59 11/11/2017 8:37:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Hi Ken, I'll wait a few days before accepting your concession... since you may want to rethink your resignation.

As noted by James, you're not in a bad strategic position at all, esp. if you build a fort in New Orleans.

58 11/11/2017 11:25:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message I concede. Robert wins.
57 11/10/2017 6:47:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message On Fri, Nov 10, 2017 at 3:12 PM, Robert Sohn

...end of Turn 2, Union SPs in Ft PJ and a leader + sp in Little Rock. Union leader and sp got to LR via land from Missouri. No other LOC to LR for Union.

At the PC Control Phase, can PC be place on LR after placement of PC in Ft PJ creates Union Naval Control up the Mississippi to LR, or is such "chaining" not allowed?

James Pei>>>Yes, such a chaining of PC is allowed and often is the case. Then, apply SW change for fort and resource city.

Alternatively, if that's not allowed, what if during turn with a 2 Ops card, a PC is placed on Ft PJ and then placed on LR sequentially thru newly created LOC?

James Pei>>> You can also do that during the turn whereby you instantly denied river crossing to the CSA.

If you're OK with this (you could always raise it again directly with James, esp. if you have concerns with how I described the situation), I'll stick to what I've done so far... you're up.
56 11/10/2017 9:22:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message I'm going by 11.1 where the example seems to indicate this exact situation.
55 11/9/2017 11:40:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Do I not have LOC when PC placed on Ft PJ up the Mississippi to LR; then I can place PC and destroyed resource on LR?

I thought I can place PCs within my preference within sequence 4.B.1.

If I can't, instead of fort in Manassas, I'll place PC. I may use higher ops card then... do we check on CSW?
54 11/9/2017 11:28:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message I have a question. How were you able to place a Union PC marker in Little Rock (and destroy the Resource there) without a valid LOC?
53 11/9/2017 10:56:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #120: 1 / Horace Greeley Editorial
If played by the Union increase Union SW by 1. If played by the Confederate decrease Union SW by 1.

Message from Union:
Fort in Manassas
52 11/9/2017 9:54:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #6: 1 / Ambush
Target any enemy cavalry general not located with an army and make a casualty die roll. On a die roll of 1-3 the cavalry general is killed, on a die roll of 4-6 there is no effect.

Message from Confederate:
Start Operations Queue of 1 on A S Johnston in Nashville. I couldn't find an Ops Queue marker in the Vassal mix, so I used an ironclad marker instead.
51 11/9/2017 12:52:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #111: 2 / Wilsonís Raid
Union may place two Union PC markers in any spaces within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single Union cavalry brigade. The four space range CAN be traced through Northeast Alabama. These PC Markers (in contravention of rule 11.3D), CAN be placed in blockade runner ports/ and or resource spaces devoid of Confederate SPs or forts (but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes), resulting in their immediate destruction. Remove from deck if event is played.

50 11/6/2017 4:40:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Just realized that I forgot to impose the SW penalty for A.S. Johnston's bruised ego at not being named commander of the ANV. Please reduce the CSA SW from 95 to 93 on your move.
49 11/6/2017 1:54:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #9: 3 / Clara Barton
Union immediately adds three SPs due to improved sanitary conditions. Place in any space (friendly controlled or not) that already contains a Union SP and has a LOC, no more than one per space.

37 11/2/2017 10:08:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Strat is OK except you can't go from coastal fort (Ft Gadsen, FL) to Richmond since it's NOT an army... you can rail, but not from TX or AR since those are roads (of course, I could be wrong since I've last played this game competitively 3+ years ago).

Did you want to adjust?

33 11/1/2017 11:35:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Oh, sorry. I'm still not in habit of doing the recording and forgot to do so during that last save file...

I presume you still have your file from your card play...

I just moved AOP (4 sp) - Strasburg, p/u2 sp, leaving 1 (AOP 6) - Culpeper, drop 1 (AOP5) - Wilderness, drop 1 (AOP4) - F'burg, drop 1 (AOP3) - AqCreek, drop 1 (AOP2) - Manassas, AOP, n2

That should bring you to board position before attrit and rest... again, I'll try to keep better log files. I get a bit confused still as my other concurrent opponent on the other game doesn't use Vassal and we do ...
32 11/1/2017 8:27:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Bob, I like to see the board position after your Card #4 play and before your reinforcements and Strat move, please. Otherwise, it's difficult for me to sort through who went where.
31 11/1/2017 7:40:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message To you for reinforcements and strat, and I'll do leaders after that. Did not do move file, but I will send you saved vassal file. Pls check. Thanks.

10 10/25/2017 12:14:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #103: 3 / Seven Days/Chattanooga
Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

Message from Union:
Rail 2 sp from Pitt (n0) to AOP (n7) -> leave 2 in DC, moving 5 to Frederick -> p/u 1 (n6) -> attack Manassas

9 10/24/2017 11:39:00 PM Spring 1861 Moderator Message Actually Ken, if you could, please post the "how to" document showing how to use Vassal with FTP on the consim FTP folder. Several players in this tourney have asked me about Vassal, but I'm mostly using Cyberboard. So if you posted it, it would be very beneficial to the entire FTP community. Thanks!
8 10/24/2017 10:06:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Bob, do you have any experience at all with Vassal? Have you downloaded the software?

I've made a "how to" document showing how to use Vassal with Breakout: Normandy and can adapt it for FTP if you want. Just let me know.
7 10/24/2017 1:55:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message I'm ok with all 3, but friends call me Bob...

I'll aim for move per day also, but it'll likely be in the evening as I don't have access to cyberboard or vassal at work.

I'm good with using vassal files, but you have to teach me some basics of how... I used to use cyberboard 4+ years ago when I last gamed with ACTS...

6 10/24/2017 1:30:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Hi, Robert. Do you go by Robert or Bob (Rob)?

I'm in the Kansas City area (Central time zone), so we shouldn't have much of a time delay. I should be able to get off at least one move per day and will let you know if I can't.

If it's OK with you, I'd like to exchange moves via Vassal files, too. The ACTS log would be the official record is there's ever a discrepancy, of course.

I will not campaign. You can go first.
