387 6/19/2018 11:41:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #75: 2 / Western Concentration Block
Confederate player can either remove or demote an army commander in any state except Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Florida for no political cost. OR Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5 Remove from deck if event is played.

Not playing a card. You have options.
382 6/5/2018 9:43:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Quite frustrating with you playing the discard card and then my loss of Stoneman. Even with that, if Johnston had died, I would have tried to hit AoT. As it is if I attack and do not take Morehead City I would put the AoC in peril.

AoC d1 n7-0; Goldsboro; Fayetteville d1 n6-0; Goldsboro d1 n5-0 and end in Weldon.

379 6/4/2018 11:29:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Sorry...but I will wait to see if you lose A. Johnston. It would be an influencing factor for the rest of my move.
378 6/4/2018 11:14:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Clarification. With the loss of Stoneman I have to put a SP on the game track and now the AoC is 8-0.

IAT the loss of Cav and now the 3-1 ratio I had hoped for vs AoT, I will have to adjust and will move soon.
377 6/4/2018 10:54:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Of course it is the Cav guy; Stoneman is killed. He will be replaced by Mitchell next turn.

I will likely continue movement without waiting for your DR to possibly lose Johnston. Just fixing the map and thinking it over.

Message from Union:
I understand your comments and rationale. I agree on the EP card and only thing the CSA can do is even force a fight where a loss occurs, get EP out of the way (CSA in this game has lots of SPs in various places for the 3 they have to lose) and then drive on.

Burnside will attempt to intercept; need a 1.
337 4/21/2018 5:02:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #28: 1 / Franz Sigel
Union immediately receives one SP in St. Louis, MO space if no Confederate SPs or fort are present, whether it is controlled by either side or neutral; OR Confederate plays card at the beginning of a battle and receives a +2 DRM in the battle.

Message from Confederate:
I had 1 "3" card and 2 "2" cards, the rest were "1"s. I only had one CSA event, and that was the 3 card. The beginning of the end of my being able to pose an offensive threat was the loss of Forrest. It wasn't so much the loss of Forrest, it was that losing him forced me to move AoT out of an offensive position into a defensive position thus ceding the initiative. Not a good thing for CSA to have to do, and this entire game has led my strategy in the same way. I had the EP card twice in early turns, so had to "play it safe" those turns to avoid EP happening, so no initiative (a ridiculous game mechanic in my view ... why would the South limit their own initiative to prevent the North from emancipating the slaves? Anyway, this game has been strange in that it has led me away from my normal aggressive instinct as the South. Will be difficult to hold out, and when Richmond falls my SW will go from 68(+) to 23(-) immediately. Yikes.

AoT (6-0) > Goldsboro NC (pu3) > attack 2 SPs in New Bern. I'll let you do the battle so you can decide whether to intercept with Burnside. If AoT wins and can legally do it, convert New Bern and attack Morehead City. If can still move, convert Morehead City as well. If you prefer, you can just announce if Burnside will intercept and roll for him and I will do the rest when I get back Tuesday. Have a good rest of the weekend.

Confederate defiance against the “War of Northern Aggression” hardens. Increase Confederate SW by three points.

Message from Union:
My hand dictated my strategy that time. 5 1s, a 2 (used for forming AoT, lost for AA +2) and this 3. Some damage in the East, but Richmond still yours and two armies still there. So, where I wanted some more action this turn, but am only doing now.

Activate Hooker in Lebanon. Louisville pu1 w2 there; Bloomington pu4 n5; Louisville; Lebanon d1 n4 w6 there; Somerset d1 n3 w2 there; Clinton d1 n2 w2 there; Crossville d2 and end in Clinton.
335 4/19/2018 9:52:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #111: 2 / Wilson’s Raid
Union may place two Union PC markers in any spaces within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single Union cavalry brigade. The four space range CAN be traced through Northeast Alabama. These PC Markers (in contravention of rule 11.3D), CAN be placed in blockade runner ports/ and or resource spaces devoid of Confederate SPs or forts (but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes), resulting in their immediate destruction. Remove from deck if event is played.

330 4/18/2018 10:06:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Message I am glad my opponent is on top of things. Wharton, though a replacement GO and "killed" in the battle, will recover and be able to come back in Spring 1865.
329 4/18/2018 9:35:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Message I have a bit to clean up things from the battle and losses of Cav GOs for both of us.
I used the wrong table and the results of the battle were CSA 6 and USA 3.
AoC then 6-1 retreated and after losing Pleasanton is now 5-0, 1 SP to enter next turn. Kilpatrick will replace Pleasanton next turn.
AoT then 9-1 stayed in Suffolk, but after losing Wharton is n8-0, 1 SP to enter next turn. There is no replacement for Wharton, so no one enters in Spring 1865. Bloody battle with loss of cav to each, but greater loss to USA and stopped any AoC attempt into NC.
328 4/18/2018 9:22:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Message Of course the cav general is killed. I would expect no other outcome. That's 3 dead cav generals this game.

315 4/18/2018 8:55:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #123: 1 / Quantrill’s Raiders
If played by the Confederate player place or flip 2 PC makers in a Missouri space (except St. Louis), which does not contain Union SPs or forts. If played by the Union player increase Union SW by 1 for increased resolve due to atrocities. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Activate AoC 12-1 in Drewy's Bluff. Suffolk, convert; Weldon, convert and attack the 3SPs in Goldsboro. I will not be playing a card and guess you will not either.
314 4/18/2018 8:47:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #19: 1 / Belmont
Either player may move up to two infantry SPs from the same space as if led by a General. This move is a Corps move and may enter enemy controlled spaces because the SPs are moving as if they are led by a general.

309 4/14/2018 5:50:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message No USA GO loss. If you lose a GO, you will have 4 and are in compliance with 5.29. If you do not lose a GO, I would like J. Johnston to go to the game track.

USA loses even with a 3* to 3 result as Richmond is a resource center. AoC n12-1 falls back to Drewy's Bluff; AoNV n1-1 remains in Richmond.
Both armies are subject to a GO loss on a roll of 1-3.

Here is my roll.

Battle of Richmond (medium as you kept AoNV at 4SPs and have enough DRM for a 3 result and even if I roll for a 3*, I cannot take Richmond).
USA +5 GOs +2 fr for 7
CSA +6 GOs +2 for fort for 8

306 4/14/2018 5:38:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message ...AoC 15-1, continuing...convert Drewy's Bluff; attack AoNV in Richmond.
Since you will be gone, I will take it you will not avoid battle with AoNV, nor intercept into Richmond with AoT as that would destroy the AoNV. Lastly, I will not be playing a bc card and will guess you are not also. DR for battle next.
305 4/14/2018 5:11:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message JE 300 - I did not see where you mentioned Hood as being dropped off in Richmond (AoNV) and then just got a little confused over Bragg as I had loaded the map and then looked at the GOs. It was only Hood and I got it now.

Avoid battle attempt to Petersburg.
303 4/14/2018 12:32:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Message Not sure what the confusion was ... Bragg was DCG of AoT. Moved Johnston (same political rating as Bragg) and Hood to AoNV, and then AS Johnston replaced Bragg as DCG of AoT. I think all of that is reflected in the map as well unless I am still missing something.
302 4/13/2018 1:10:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #51: 1 / Confederate Torpedoes
Confederate receives three torpedo counters. Must be placed in a friendly controlled port, and no more than one per space. Torpedoes provide a -1 DRM against Running the Guns and a +1 DRM against amphibious assaults.

Message from Union:
AoC leaves 2 in Fort Monroe n13-1. Williamsburg, convert, pu2 n15-1 w1 left and attack AoT in Drewy’s Bluff. You have options; not playing a bc in any battle.
301 4/13/2018 12:21:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message Reconciled your last move to the map you sent. I believe you left a few things out of the move that would show what your intent was. A. Johnston when picking up JB Hood from AoT went to Richmond, Petersburg d3 and ended in Drewey’s Bluff, becoming the DCG of AoT. By the map it seems you wanted to d Hood in AoNV; pu Bragg and bring him to AoT with A. Johnston. That is what the map reflects and I will take as what your move encompassed.
300 4/13/2018 10:41:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #96: 2 / Strategy Board
Union player may make a naval move with up to three SPs plus one general.

Message from Confederate:
AS Johnston + 3 in Goldsboro NC (3) > Weldon > Suffolk > Drewey's Bluff (pu J Johnston) > Richmond (drop J Johnston, who becomes AoNV DCG, and pu 2, n5 and 4-1 in AoNV) > Drewey's Bluff (pu JB Hood ) > Richmond > Petersburg (d3) > Drewey's Bluff (AS Johnston becomes DCG and AoT n12-1)
299 4/13/2018 10:22:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Message ...AoT d3 n12-1 in Williamsburg and returns to Hanover.
