578 6/14/2018 11:47:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message This is a great game. Most of the time the deck is fairly even. Sometimes, though, Rebs drop a dozen SPs in the first two turns, or the Blockade is at 3 or 4 around the start of 62. Those games are a little rougher.
577 6/14/2018 11:44:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message If you're up for it, how about we swap sides and restart this. I'll use the next few weeks to rewatch all of Herman's YouTube Tutorials on EotS.

576 6/14/2018 11:42:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Message I think I need to throw in the towel on this one. Good thought about splitting up the best generals. I wasn't sure which made more sense - stack them up for a super-army or split them. But after seeing the result, the answer is pretty apparent. Good point, too, that with a better general, I could have won in Florida. Almost tried that anyway in order to free up the resources. What surprised me is just how scarce troops are for the rebels - I felt I was doing a good job conserving them, only to still never seem to have enough.

So what next - another of this, or try Empire of the Sun?
575 6/14/2018 9:19:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message When I say Jackson/Lee/Longstreet, I mean never have two of them together, much less three. I kept throwing SPs into battles against Lee hoping for a lucky break with Jackson eating a bullet.
574 6/14/2018 9:18:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message 7.33B goes into effect, as you won the combat but were eliminated, and I inflicted enough SP loss to destroy your fort.

I enter Richmond, but can not use my last OP to convert it. You have to displace your capital to another blockade runner or resource space.

- 15 SW for loss of Capital
- 5 SW for loss of Army Marker
- 3 SW for Fortunes of War

CSA = 24 (-)

You've played an excellent game, and considering how 1861 ended with the AoP sitting outside Richmond (And spending the next few years there), you've played spectacularly. You've made a few rookie mistakes, but you've also picked up on some excellent strategic moves as well. Dice failed you at a bad time, as the battle in Kentucky you lost with a 1/6 roll to Burnside was a heavy blow with serious casualties, where as if you'd won that I think you could've taken KY.

I think I will win this due to SW victories, but don't discount yourself. I really thought you had it until a few lucky breaks.

Biggest thing I'd recommend for the future is don't put Lee/Jackson/Longstreet together. Put at least one, if not two of them, in charge of armies. Put the other in command of a corps of SPs. If one of them was down in Baldwin, you likely would've been able to drive me into the sea.
573 6/14/2018 8:56:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Message I realized too late that in my efforts to seal things up in the west and deep south, I'd neglected to properly protect the Atlantic states.
572 6/14/2018 8:55:00 PM Spring 1864 Confederate Message Well, at least I did you some solid damage.

Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort.
