865 11/8/2018 1:57:00 PM Turn 18 Allies Message I can't see anything in ACTS though you could use it for die rolls and as a general log. The cards would have to be handled via the Vassal module. This isn't a major problem: each player has 21 cards (plus the leader), of which (due to reshuffle rules) 14 see play once every two conferences. Some die, possibly due to Beria.

It's a neat game where I feel I have recently gone from low level to mid level understanding. I've got the patience to talk you through a trial game.

How about I sound out Doug, you look at the Vassal and the rules and in the meantime we have something like a game of Washington's War, which is straightforward and we both know the system?

Is there an ACTS thing (I don't see it) or do we just use the VASSAL board itself?
863 11/7/2018 6:05:00 PM Turn 18 Allies Message Churchill: you can play with 1, 2 or 3. Actually you can play with 0 and it runs itself on the 'bots' that are all the rage.

My skill level: I have played with others at their place. I tagged along, despite having the game unplayed, and started to pick it up. It is not hard. I think Doug Edwards was interested in playing it.

The longest scenario is all 10 conferences. The shortest is just the last 3 and is recommended for learning.

I don't have Churchill - don't we need 3?
But can certainly look at it / learn as we go.

Other options are Washington's War, the (long lost) Gettysburg - I can send you rules and map, Tiger in the Mist - a really cool game (but on Cyberboard).

I'm currently playing a few games of Hannibal so I'm okay there - we could try War at Sea again also.


861 11/7/2018 6:47:00 AM Turn 18 Allies Message OK, where next? If you want to continue with this system, the options include:

1. Turning the tables and having a rematch.

2. Going to the Marne game. Allies high tail it from the north towards the river and maybe beyond. Germans are in hot pursuit. Line solidifies. Paris saved? Counterattack? More frontal than Ypres. Cyberboard not Vassal.

3. Galicia. I haven't played it yet, but it looks more of a trad wargame encounter. There is a Vassal module.

4. Tannenburg. My favourite from the set. Not a chit puller (2 Russian v 1 German Army plus some others, so 4 entities). Would move fairly quickly. Again Cyberboard not Vassal.

Otherwise...

5. Something else. I do have my eye on Churchill. Do you have it?
