254 7/4/2018 2:20:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Rome gains control of Raetia, and place garrison unit in Narbonensis, as it is four spaces away from my units in Albintimilium (Genoa-Taurinorum-mountains-Valentia). It says spaces, not MPs, so I get there with the four spaces.

Message from Rome:
Leader death check. And with one remaining MP will move leader with 1 legion to Brundisium, which will eliminate the Greek garrison there.

I also updated the track showing the cities and stability. Greece stability -1 and reduced Victory Points by 1 for the loss of the outlying province.

Rome gains 2 stability points and one GOP point.
250 7/4/2018 1:57:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Better - so base roll is 4:4, and I'll shift Greece down by 2 and Rome up by 2.

20% losses to Rome is .2*16=3.2 rounded to 3 so one LG reduced.

60% losses to Greece is .6*5=3.0 so the walls take it first and then the LI.

Rome takes the city.

Message from Rome:
Success, and since mine is an elite leader, I add 1 to the die roll. I'll re-roll the Roman roll, which would normally subtract 1 from the roll. Elite leader adds one to the roll, so just the base roll...

245 7/4/2018 1:42:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Wow - it's a tickle-fight out there. 0% losses to Romans, 40% losses to Greece, so 40% of 6 is 2.4 rounded down to 2, so one wall point removed

First battle of Tarentum.

16BP for Rome; 6BP for Greece, so 3 shifts to Rome
1 additional shift for the Roman leader, so 4 shifts to the Romans

Rome:Greece
243 7/4/2018 11:26:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message No interception or cards or siege expertise; will defend within city
242 7/4/2018 11:10:00 AM Turn 1 Rome Message Forgot to pay 1T and draw card first. Done.

One MP to move to move to Bovianum, one to pick up the Legion, one to move to Capua, one to pick up the legion, one to move to Venusia, and then one to move to Tarentum and one to attack. So, using 7 to pick up units and attack Tarentum.

Questions for Greece:
- Interception?
- Cards?
- Made a delayed note for siege expertise bid

Major move with 3-6 leader in Rome
240 7/4/2018 3:07:00 AM Turn 1 East Message thanks Card, missed your earlier log.

So i now to Rome to start (the first 4 activation markers are on the top right side of the board).
239 7/3/2018 5:48:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Work off my second log file...didn't save the "reveal" notes.
238 7/3/2018 5:47:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Rome done. Placed my leader, purchased units, and paid for the units.
237 7/3/2018 5:41:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message I paid for the four fleets during the Greek admin log (030).

On to Rome.
236 7/3/2018 5:37:00 PM Turn 1 East Message I can not see the private notes of Greece. I assume you did wanted to maintain for the Greek fleet (4T) ? otherwise you loose them.

On my side I notice I forgot to indicate the placement of the 2nd leader in Iconium.

Back to Carl to clarify and then to Rome.
235 7/3/2018 10:25:00 AM Turn 1 Carthage Message I also forgot to pay, now fixed. East is next.
234 7/3/2018 10:10:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message Deposited 2 log files: revealing and placement and then payment file as I forgot in first file.

Over to the East.
233 7/3/2018 3:05:00 AM Turn 1 East Message I believe private notes can not be read by other players, so suggest Carl just paste it on this log before all reveal.
232 7/3/2018 3:04:00 AM Turn 1 East Message indeed we should all use the delayed notes of Vassal, without forgetting to save them before saving the log.

It happened a few times to me that I forgot to save and is all lost.
231 7/2/2018 8:39:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message Carthage maintenance, manpower, leader placement revealed and done.
Greece is next for same.
230 7/2/2018 4:11:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message Assuming private notes can be revealed, it shouldn't be a problem.
229 7/2/2018 3:24:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message My apologies - I didn't hit "save" on the delayed notes.

Updated log file created with the notes.
228 7/2/2018 3:09:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message Yes I did private notes; that's how I interpreted the "secret notes" of Mario's instructions. I've never used this feature of Vassal before. About 10 years ago, when I last play Pax, we used a third party website for the manpower decisions - don't know if that still exists.
227 7/2/2018 3:04:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message I see delayed notes for Carthage (me) and the East. I don't see any notes for Greece or Rome. If you did private notes instead of delayed notes, we can't see that you did them (and I don't know much about private notes). Greece and Rome, did you do private notes instead of delayed notes?
226 7/2/2018 1:28:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Rome admin phase done - put all the notes in the log file. I'm not sure who is up next - either Greece or Carthage, because I don't see either of them with notes in the log file for the leaders/manpower/GS maintenance.
225 7/1/2018 7:13:00 AM Turn 1 East Message Log with notes done. Rome is next

Thanks Randy, I have beet traveling intensively and lost track. I am rolling for Bagdad Booty Call
223 6/30/2018 9:14:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message East is up for admin.
222 6/26/2018 12:49:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message Admin decisions made; log uploaded.

East next.
221 6/25/2018 6:02:00 AM Turn 1 East Message Hi Randy, no worries letís put them back, :-)
220 6/24/2018 4:05:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message Done. Two files and three notes because I kept forgetting things.
Greece is next.
219 6/24/2018 3:49:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message Many thanks to Mario for handling the end of turn stuff (although I found the markers you removed very useful!).
218 6/24/2018 3:43:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message No one starts with an Opportunity Objective, they have to be purchased.
217 6/24/2018 11:23:00 AM Turn 1 East Message Log posted with the tabulation of VP, and return of AM markets to pool, with the first 4 already drawn in sequence of play.

Please return cards exceeding your hand limit to the deck.

Carthage is next
216 6/24/2018 11:21:00 AM Turn 1 East Message in order to speed up the initial phases, each player will do the income, Maintenance and Removal Phases (A-C).

Then he will also draw the two leaders and record in the secret notes tool of the vassal module the placement of the second leader (first leader goes into the capital).

Finally also record your Manpower decisions in the same Note.

Suggest we follow in the sequence of VP's, so:

CARTHAGE > GREECE > EAST > ROME.

The total actual VP's can be seen on the right side of this page.
215 6/24/2018 11:16:00 AM Turn 1 East Message I added the VP here
214 6/24/2018 11:16:00 AM Turn 1 East Edit VPs Carthage: from 0 to 10
Rome: from 0 to 0
Greece: from 0 to 8
East: from 0 to 4
213 6/24/2018 11:15:00 AM Turn 1 East Message VP Awarded:

Carthage:10
Greece 8
East :4
Rome 0
212 6/23/2018 7:24:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message I purchased an OO, but I didn't pull one at the beginning of the game. Were we supposed to do that?
211 6/23/2018 12:49:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message Btw, I never got an Objective marker at the beginning of the game. Was I supposed to have gotten one then? Can I get one at the beginning of turn 2 instead?
210 6/23/2018 12:39:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message Greece has 8 GOP and 14 CVP.
209 6/22/2018 7:24:00 PM Turn 1 Carthage Message Rome controls 2 provinces and so has 2 GOP.
Carthage has 10 GOP and 10 CVP.
208 6/22/2018 4:57:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message I did my turn for the Romans, and then tabulated my GOP, CVP, and OO for the turn. I figure we each do our isolation and tabulations and then see where the VPs shake out. Rome only has 6 CVPs and nothing else, but please check my work.
207 6/22/2018 4:56:00 PM Turn 1 Rome Message Started doing the notes in the log file - sorry about that. I'll narrate here.

Paid 1T and pulled the Dies Ire - and I decided to save the 2T and just cancel the AM.

Now, on to the end of turn items.

G. Attrition and Isolation: Looks like nothing for the Romans on this. My units in Noricum can trace back to Rome without a problem.

H. Victory Points:
- No GOP for the Romans, I believe, since I didn't take control of any provinces outside my home territory. I'll let everyone else tabulate their GOPs.
- Romans have 6 CVPs (one city for 3 and three towns for 1 each).
- No OO for the Romans.

I'll stop there and let everyone else finish up.
206 6/22/2018 11:59:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message Over to Rome for last activation of turn 1.
205 6/22/2018 11:58:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Die roll request Request: 6-sided die x 1

Message from Greece:
2nd minor move: Garrison at Ancyra
204 6/22/2018 11:58:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message SoF regroup to last transit point. Then, using last 2 MPs will move to Celenae.

1st minor move: build town at Dyrrhachium.

203 6/22/2018 11:50:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message Bad result for Greeks.

Use one shift to reduce 5 to 4, meaning SoF army loses 4 BPs: eliminate 1 HI and 1 Cav.
No losses to East.

Message from Greece:
Battle at Iconium

SoF (no force ratio diff., no cav due to mountain, 3 for leader)

East (2 shifts for mountain)

201 6/22/2018 11:42:00 AM Turn 1 Greece Message Thanks for the clarification. Enabling continual withdrawal as long as you withdrew to a space with friendly forces would seem to go against the rule as written. I'm sure this will come up quite a bit, so it's good to have it clarified as 1 withdrawal per major/minor move.
200 6/22/2018 9:10:00 AM Turn 1 Rome Message I just read 9.4.1, and it seems to me that it's written one withdrawal by a single defending army per major or minor move. Not sure why it's written that way - I'd assume that the defending army can always withdraw, given the time scale of each turn (about 25 years). But, looking at the actual rules, it seems to be one withdrawal per defender per aggressor major or minor move.
199 6/22/2018 2:27:00 AM Turn 1 East Message note: I was reading on BGG and some play by the rule that one can have only 1 withdrawal per major move or minor move, so potentially 3 withdrawals per turn.

I would be ok with this ruling as well.
198 6/22/2018 2:22:00 AM Turn 1 East Message If this is how e should interpret then I prefer to stay with the original force on the mountain space, and you can execute the attack.
197 6/22/2018 2:20:00 AM Turn 1 East Message This is how I have been playing, but re-reading 9.41 then I believe you are correct that the non-Active Player can only make one single pre-battle withdrawal with a specific army/stack per Major/minor turn.

However he can do more than one withdrawal as long as it it not the same force retreating.
196 6/22/2018 2:09:00 AM Turn 1 East Message Basically every time you enter an enemy occupied space the non-active army can attempt to retreat. So if you spend now 2MP to enter and attack the enemy forces in Seleucia they can retreat as a whole or partially as I decide. Cavalry can hinder retreat except on mountains spaces and/or in retreats from port spaces, if the non -active player decided to use naval movement.
195 6/21/2018 5:10:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message I have 2 MPs left, so I could attack force in Seleucia with SoF force. Part of that force already withdrew. Does that mean that force can no longer withdraw from battle (as 10.41 states)? Or can the part which hadn't withdrawn yet that activation still withdraw? Rules are not clear on this. What do you think?
194 6/19/2018 11:50:00 PM Turn 1 East Message The whole stack moves to Seleucia.

Message from East:
that will be 8MP spent. Only 7 as I will do a pre-battle withdrawal so yo dont pay the extra MP.

Cavalry can not be used in Mountain Spaces so can not hinder the retreat
192 6/19/2018 11:44:00 PM Turn 1 East Message I just arrived to China, and can not sync Dropbox. I assume you went via the transit point to the mountain space Celenae, and via the 2 transit points into the mountain space Iconium correct ?
191 6/19/2018 6:22:00 PM Turn 1 Greece Message Log deposited: response needed by East; attacking Iconium (7 MPs spent) - see log
