132 6/17/2018 1:53:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message good point. i forgot about the fact you are locked up on forts right now ;)

you crafty devil. now i just wish i had instead launched 3 SPs against Sabine City with the +2 from Porter card, i would have had +5 total DRM and been 5/6 chance of victory. and with that the zone would have been shut.
131 6/17/2018 1:52:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message I was counting on it to be honest. :P

It would have sucked to lose 15SW but then my capital would have been in a safer spot I think. And I needed the possibility for extra tempo that the 9th SP gave me.

And had you destroyed the fort, I would have probably used it to cross in Louisville next turn with Lee. So plan-B if everything else fails.
130 6/17/2018 1:45:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message hmmm. so i could have indeed taken the capital. i had a 2 op last as you saw and thought about sending Burnside to swing through western side of VA and then disperse capital. only reason i didn't was i thought maybe you had a mud march or quaker guns.

were you worried i would take the capital at all?
129 6/17/2018 1:42:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Oooof, not quite. AoNV safely returns to Charlottesville.

127 6/17/2018 1:40:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #103: 3 / Seven Days/Chattanooga
Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

Message from Confederate:
Activate AoNV.
m1-3 Gordonsville - Charlottesville - Staunton. Drop 1. AoNV n5

I'll roll immediately if you have possibiility to intercept. You can decide which space if you succeed.

121 6/17/2018 12:27:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message you perplex me Jukka. why leave no men behind in Richmond. Obviously you wanted the force ratio advantage as well as protecting your generals but do you have something to stop me from taking your unprotected capital or are you sitting on a card that will stop me :(

111 6/15/2018 12:55:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message Indeed, this child is quite demanding! I would agree with you but our son also made my wife's pregnancy very difficult although this one has been even worse so I will get a hearty laugh if it ends up being a girl :)

The live stream is on YT similar to last one. i do not know when it will be edited and released in podcast form but I will let you know. i did ok, but not as well as last time as i didn't have the time to prepare like I did before due to the pregnancy. i did ask to give up some of my accounts at work temporarily to have more time to help my wife and take care of my son which was granted. it will mean less income but i need the stress relief and to help my wife.

sorry about the forts Mr. Davis, but I have learned the hard way from our previous duels that I need lots of help for my hapless generals or else you raid my states with impunity.
110 6/12/2018 8:58:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Message Dont worry about the delay, family comes first. Thats a bummer about your wife. Must be one demanding baby, sounds like a girl already :P

Hoh, I'm amazed how you manage to find time and energy to do those podcasts among all other things. Dont mind about pronouncing you can always refer to me as mysterious northener from a distant god forsaken land. When will it be aired? Is it going to be like the one you did on Hand In The Sea earlier?

And those forts man. Move around or something, stop building them already. More trenches and forts than on an average Paths of Glory game.
109 6/12/2018 8:49:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #118: 3 / Mexican Supply Line

108 6/12/2018 12:46:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #4: 1 / Costly Mistake
Pick an enemy army with two or more subordinate generals (includes Cavalry Generals) and randomly determine a target general. On a die roll of 1-3 the chosen general is killed and removed from play. On a die roll of 4-6 the general is wounded and removed from play, but re-enters during the reinforcement phase of the next game turn.

Message from Union:
i badly wanted to use this to target Mr. Jeb (he seems to like to run head first into cannonballs in our games ;) ) but i will instead just use this for building a fort in Strasburg, VA. BTY
107 6/12/2018 12:44:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message hey old friend. sorry for the delay, wife has gotten worse. baby is fine (we had check up last week) but my wife has been in bed or couch almost constantly and i'm swamped at home and work. plus i had committed a month ago to do the Long View Podcast on For the People so i was prepping for that over last weekend. i gave you a shout out (hopefully pronounced your name somewhat correctly :S) for teaching me this lovely game. i think i will be playing this game until the day i die, it's so much fun.

would love to hit your corp in Petersburg in order to try to prevent army formation but if i force a retreat you will go to Richmond anyways and then have enough men plus i would be in a very vulnerable position.

84 6/6/2018 12:16:00 AM Fall 1861 Union Message rails done. no generals to place so i will be drawing cards.

a little crazy that i can send so many troops by both rail and naval movement combined to army. that woudl be quite the logistical feat even for Union. but that's the tournament rules. i remember we did play with optional RR logistics rule last game and it definitely did make such operations harder.

Message from Union:
playing this to activate Burnside and both SPs in Harrisburg. hoping you don't have a mud march or quaker guns. his first MP will be to Gettysburg.

thinking about how to approach the enemy and will give you time to play a response card.
65 6/4/2018 12:41:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message yeah, i don't know how i never noticed that because i would often re-read that section when thinking how to benefit from forcing different priority retreats.

just another reason to be extra careful when diving in OOS to enemy territory. if you don't have a priority 5 space the enemy could choose any number of priority 6 spaces and choose to steer your further away form supply lines !!
64 6/4/2018 12:37:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Wow, always learning something new. Urbana then.
63 6/4/2018 12:28:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message ah yes, correct on double strength. and yes, i could also fall back to Williamsburg due to supply from Ft. Monroe.

fun rule i never realized was there until this Spring, you actually get to choose where I retreat to in case of priority 5 or 6.

This little gem is nestled in the paragraph of 7.61 under Defender:
"If more than one space meets the criteria for a given priority then the victorious player decides which space to choose if priorities 5 or 6 were applied"

so you decide where i retreat to.
62 6/4/2018 12:15:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message That went better than hoped! Smith must stop movement as I didn't have double your strenght.
I think you can choose between Urbana and Williamsburg as you would have LOC there too?

I'll make file. Tell if you agree and wish to change retreat location.
61 6/4/2018 12:13:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message crap. 2*-1 result. Smith n5 and AOP n3.

AOP forced to retreat to only priority 5 space available which is Urbanna (enemy PC but with LOC from port).

in doing so I lose 1 SP, n2.

43 6/3/2018 10:18:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message 3rd, 4th-DC - Manassas and drop 1, n4
5th enter Strasburg and you have interception chance and if you fail or refuse it then 6th MP will be used to drop 1 SP, n3 and attack JJ in Winchester.

please decide and resolve interception and if needed decide and resolve retreat roll. please roll combat if it occurs.

since some things have happened on board state i did load a partial log up to Pope entering Strasburg.
42 6/3/2018 10:10:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message realized after battle roll that i forgot another +2 for Pope since PGT is OOS.

wouldn't effect outcome, still 2*-1. PGT goes to TT since i couldn't force a GCR and his force is gone. Pope n5 and continues.

40 6/3/2018 10:07:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #2: 2 / Copperheads
Reduce Union SW by two points, or place two PC markers in Ohio (must be placed in spaces free of Union SPs).

Message from Union:
activate Pope and 5 Sp, leaves 2 behind. 1st-York and pu 1, n6. 2nd-attack Baltimore at 6 to 1 on medium table. PGT has no friendly space to attempt to retreat to and no INT and no cards effect corp vs corp combat so i will roll it.
