88 6/17/2018 8:35:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message 5.67 A 1
"When McClellan is placed in command of an Army that is within four spaces of the Union capital, the Union immediately gains a one time bonus of +5 SW"
87 6/17/2018 8:51:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message We are playing with the soecial General rules.
One of those gives +5 SW when McCelland is placed in charge of an Army with 4 spaces of Washington.
86 6/17/2018 8:02:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message I am not familiar with the rule that allows a card to be used both to create an army and use the event listed on the card nor do I believe there is a rule for gaining SW for creating an army. So what is the +5 SW for?
85 6/16/2018 8:10:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #52: 3 / Trent Affair
Confederate gains 5 SW points. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Create Army of the Potomac with McCelland in command.
+5SW and +2 for swing benefit.
84 6/16/2018 7:56:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message General placement posted. Union can proceed with 1st card.
83 6/16/2018 7:55:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Draw Strategy cards 5 cards drawn.

82 6/16/2018 4:27:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message We are up to your general placement?
81 6/15/2018 3:52:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message Since my random ones are all going to same place, it seems unnecessary for me to do it that way.
But OK with that as process.
80 6/15/2018 9:41:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message The games I have played, the Vassal module for general placement is used in a log file and then the log file is sent to the opponent.

ACTS is not used for general placement as long as log files are exchanged.
79 6/15/2018 9:32:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Draw Strategy cards 5 cards drawn.

78 6/15/2018 9:30:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message If even a returning general has to be random, then everyone goes to Washington (still legal as can be 1 more than SP in a fort).
77 6/15/2018 9:25:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message I am going to draw my cards now, because there is nothing else for me to do before then.
Place your generals, then you draw as well and say whether you want to go first with a campaign or not.
76 6/15/2018 9:24:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message My generals are simple.
Returning general McDowell goes to Cincinnati.
All my new generals to Washington.

I presume you specify where you are sending new generals then roll in ACTS for which ones go where.
75 6/15/2018 9:07:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Because i do not always have easy access to Vassal, i would appreciate it if next time you could post a summary of what you did here in ACTS.

What is the process for placing generals when using This combination of vassal and ACTS?
74 6/15/2018 8:46:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message CSA SM psoted
73 6/14/2018 10:20:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Sorry. Changed my mind
The 2SP currently showing as Baltimore should be in Washington instead and 1SP more from Washington to Fort Monroe. Still within my movement limit.
72 6/14/2018 9:59:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Fixed your placements as requested:
1SP Humboldt TN to Corinth MS
1SP Memphis TN to Columbia SC
1SP Pensacola to Columbus GA

Then up to 15SP US strategic movement
Springfield to Frederick
Indianapolis to Baltimore
1SP from Washington to Fort Monroe
3SP from Washington to Sabine City TX
Columbus OH to Washington
Cincinnati to Baltimore

This is on the basis that all the generals arriving are random, except McDowell is known, so I can allocate him specifically.
71 6/14/2018 4:30:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message I have gone thrugh again and reealised that you placed 1SP in Dalton GA and placed the unit in Pensacola FL as a blockade runner unit.
Pensacola is not a valid spot for a blockade unit, because it is not an open port (blocked by US control of Fort Pickens).
So you need to move Pensacola unit and move 2 TN placements, with available states being FL, MS and AK.
70 6/13/2018 6:32:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message 3 units placed in TN were at Memphis, Nashville and Humboldt. 2 of these need to be moved to other states, among SC, GA, AK, MS
69 6/13/2018 5:53:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message I think there are 2 mistakes in your reinforcements:
1) you have placed 3 SP in TN (6 in VA, NC, TX, LA, AL and FL are OK)
2) you have missed placing 1SP in an open blockade port the Eastern Gulf area.
You can fix this in correction vlog or tell me and I can do the vlog with my strategic moves.
68 6/13/2018 4:04:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message CSA reinforcements posted
67 6/13/2018 9:29:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message I have done a log file with:
1) CSA Spr61 4th Card (Beauregard to Richmond)
2) PC changes for Sabine City TX and Paducah KY
3) USA reinforcements:
8SP in Washington,
5SP in Cincinnati, 1 SP in Bloomington
2SP in St Louis, 2SP in Cairo

Your reinforcements:
9 SP at max 1SP per state
1 SP each at a blockade port in the 3 available Blockade zones (East Gulf, Sth Atlantic and Nth Atlantic).
-2SW CSA for unavailable blockade zone.
66 6/13/2018 8:54:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Missed our general placement steps, as last one before cards.
65 6/13/2018 8:53:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Just saw your cards - what a hand you drew!
I will do a vlog with your last move, the PC changes and my reinforcement placement.
Then you can do placement, I do strategic movement, you do strategic movement and THEN we draw cards!
64 6/13/2018 8:49:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Change game turn Game turn changed to Summer 1861
63 6/13/2018 8:48:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message What happened to the game turn?
62 6/13/2018 8:47:00 AM Spring 1862 Union Message Worst case you can use the draw extra card action to draw back to 5 cards when it is the right time (ie after reinforcements placed, then units moved and generals placed).
61 6/13/2018 8:44:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Also, you skipped the political control phase.
Union takes PC of Paducah KY and Sabine City TX.
I do not think there are any CSA political control markers to place.
I think there is no attrition for either side, as largest group is only 2SP.
60 6/13/2018 8:44:00 AM Fall 1861 Confederate End Turn

50 6/13/2018 8:41:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Discard random Strategy card Operations - 2 / Grierson's Raid

Message from Confederate:
49 6/13/2018 8:38:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message We are supposed to place our reinforcements and generals before seeing our cards.
It is actually a problem that you have drawn your cards.
It seems like the options are:
1) we continue as is, with a significant advantage for you, knowing your cards early
2) you discard those cards and draw new ones after we place reinforcements and generals
3) I draw my cards as well so we are on level terms.
Because you know whether you have drawn a good hand or not and I do not, I think it should be my choice on the solution.

I think discarding your cards and drawing new ones at the right time is the best option at this point. If one of your cards was Emancipation Declaration, then we will re-shuffle after this turn.
48 6/13/2018 8:30:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Union reinf posted
47 6/13/2018 8:25:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Realized I did this out of order. Should be Union reinforcements first which I will do

46 6/13/2018 8:24:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Draw Strategy cards 5 cards drawn.

45 6/13/2018 8:24:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate End Turn
44 6/13/2018 8:24:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Union attrition posted

See no attrition for CSA so will end turn and draw cards

Await CSA draw cards and determine who goes first

43 6/13/2018 8:18:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #34: 1 / Elite Units
Place an Elite unit marker in any space with an Army. CSA: Stonewall Bde or Hood’s Tigers. USA: Iron Bde or Wilder’s Bde. Cannot be played if all elite unit markers are in play for that side.

Message from Confederate:
CSA Card 4

Play as OPS
Move generals - Beauregard moves to Richmond
42 6/12/2018 5:34:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Your troops should be in Manassas not Fredericksburg, because, even if I won, then the winner would be eliminated, which still means you occupy the battle space (though because there was a general present, your move finishes).
41 6/12/2018 3:34:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #44: 2 / Western Virginia
Place three Union PC markers in any West Virginia space free of Confederate SPs. If the space contains a Confederate PC marker, it is flipped. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
Would love to use the event, because almost enough to gain WV, but other needs are more urgent.
Use it to place a fort on Frederik MD.
I can hope to get it again soon.
40 6/11/2018 7:19:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message SW loss is -10 for Army destruction and -3 for change.
It was 103 (start +1 for fort +2 for change).
So should end on 90. Why is it showing as 89 on Vassal?
39 6/11/2018 4:59:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Serves me right for not looking at the CRT more carefully.
I just did not think about what would happen if I won on a 6. If I had, I would have sent the full stack.
Painful learning experience!
38 6/11/2018 7:36:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Retreat attempt failed, CSA attack at Manassas continues
small battle

CSA +3DRM(+1 JJohnston,+2 3to1 odds)
Union +1DRM(+1 McDowell)

No need for die roll as leader casualty not possible.
Both sides lose 1SP. AofPotomac counter removed and McDowell removed to turn track.

Union loses 10SW plus another loss of 5 for negative movement

35 6/9/2018 6:06:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message I will attempt retreat if attacked or intercept in most other cases.

33 6/9/2018 5:56:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Wait a minute. Just want to check a rule.
32 6/9/2018 5:35:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message No intercept.
In general, probably better in this format to either roll for the intercept and ask if wanted when succesful or else just keep moving. Otherwise could be extremely slow movement.
31 6/9/2018 3:44:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Will post file once JJohnston move is done including intercept attempt if there is one.

28 6/9/2018 12:29:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Since are both still learning, I have not objection if you want to take back that card and play the other instead, if you would rather.
27 6/9/2018 12:03:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Did a vlog fixing an error implementing my turn.
Army of the Potomac left 1SP in Washington (allowed when leaving a fort). If not, it would have been a medium battle and CSA would have lost 2SP, not just 1.
Fixed that and also moved SP back to Polk in Memphis.
You need to do a legal 1Ops move.
26 6/9/2018 11:40:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Also, part of your move correction seems to have lost the CSA political control over Columbus. Fix that as well when you revise your move.
25 6/9/2018 11:33:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Looked at revised move.
I think it is also illegal, since I do not think you can move the last SP away, leaving a general with no troops, unless he is in a fort (which counts as 0 SP rather than no SP).
See rule 5.44
24 6/9/2018 8:46:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Do not have access to Vassal.

20 6/7/2018 6:45:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Not sure winning that was beneficial.
But if had known i would roll a 6 i would have all the units and killed 2 of yours :)
19 6/7/2018 5:20:00 PM Spring 1861 Union Message Both sides lose 1 SP, but attacker got 1* so wins tie and stays in Manassas.
I think i might be able to control hex, but cannot advance because not more than twice defender size.
Can you please do Vassal, perhaps in conjunction with your next move.

15 6/7/2018 4:11:00 PM Spring 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #3: 1 / Forward to Richmond
Union may activate any Union army within 4 spaces of Richmond, VA. The army must enter Richmond or move as close to Richmond as possible, but may convert spaces to maintain an LOC. All SPs associated with the army must be moved (no dropping off SPs), except 1 SP may be left if the Army began its movement from a fort (if last SP, move completed). If played by the Confederate, he draws a card from the Union hand which is discarded, and the Union player follows the instructions of this card as his next card play.

Message from Confederate:

14 6/7/2018 8:35:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Small battle, so both sides lose 1 unit.

8 6/6/2018 8:51:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Message Checked the charts and I get +4 DRM vs ungarrisoned fort.
You get +2 for defending fort.
It is small battle, so we both must inflict 1 casualty. Ungarrisoned forts lose ties if attacker has surviving forces, so no die rolls required.
vlog made. I will send you link to Dropbox, or would you rather get sent the file?
7 6/6/2018 8:28:00 AM Spring 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #100: 3 / Shiloh
Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5.

Message from Union:
Send 2 SP from Washington to Fort Fisher/Jackson.
I think it is basically automatic that I will lose 1 SP and capture the Fort, opening the Mississippi up to US naval control.
6 6/6/2018 7:42:00 AM Spring 1861 Confederate Message Sorry should have indicated that. CSA will not go first.
