128 8/10/2018 9:02:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Lack of cavalry intel does not affect interception or avoiding battle.

Correct results for Med Battle:
CSA 6SP +5 Ldrs
USA 5SP +2 INT
- Pope reduced to 0 for lack of cav intel

CSA/USA Rolls 4/4 = 9/6 = Results 2*/1 CSA Win

AoT 5SP ends in Clarksville - no casualty
Pope AoT falls back to BG w/3SP

127 8/10/2018 8:39:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message On a side note, you nailed the 1 out of 6 if it applies - nice roll when you needed it!
126 8/10/2018 8:39:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message This is not accurate based on the cavalry intel which I forgot to account for. Let me confirm the rules and FAQ on if you can use your commanders battle rating.

Army vs Army I have cav and Union does not - this means Pope has a -2 to his battle rating, not less than 0, for the combat and this also determines the number of subs he can include.

The army with cav does not gain a bonus because the other has no cavalry - only the above procedure.

Let me confirm how Pope can react with a 0 Battle rating.
125 8/10/2018 4:54:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message Actually you had a +7DRM for cavalry advantage so the result will be 10 with the same losses however leader casualty die rolls are needed. I have only Rosecrans the commanding general.

I won't do the next Union card until you do you leader casualty rolls for Forrest and Smith. You can then do a file with the results of the battle and leader casualty die rolls.

121 8/9/2018 6:25:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message This is a difficult position in a review but here are the rule sections that confirm its legality.

6.26 B Dover and commentary cover this exact situation. As a fort is in Dover and a union fort (to oppose) is not in Clarksville, CSA can always cross.

6.62 Denial of Union naval control.
#1 covers the above Dover fort.
#2 states a fort negates all 'upriver' spaces with stipulations, here's the reasons.
- Dover covers both the Cumberland and the Tenn rivers (letters on map spaces).
- it originates in an original Confederate state Tenn.
- both rivers flow down towards Paducah (denoted by the arrows) and upriver spaces from Dover are Clarksville and Nashville.

Let me know if this makes sense or if additional questions. I have played this since 99 and have some old writeups from Mark on river crossing explanations if that helps.
120 8/9/2018 3:55:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I don't believe the CSA AofTN can cross the Ohio at Clarksville. See rule 6.25 and 6.6.

106 7/30/2018 4:45:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

49 7/7/2018 3:35:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Hi Mike,
Apologies for the delay as I did not see your move notification.

The Pensacola SM is not legal for two reasons if you agree.

- must be through friendly controlled spaces, Pensacola port is still CS controlled although the coastal fort is now. Although 6.82 allows naval movement into the port it must be assaulted as its controlled and without running the guns.
- 10.2 An individual infantry SP cannot combine naval and overland strategic movement during the same strategic movement unless it is moving to an Army. Which it can do over road as well (into an army only).

Please adjust and I will proceed.

Thanks,
Ken

Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5.

41 6/22/2018 11:12:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message Hi Mike,

Yes, its open as there is no union fort preventing a crossing and union is denied naval control on that section of river.

R6.25 - The Confederate player may cross a river at a location that is denied Union naval control and does not contain a Union fort.

R6.62 DENIAL OF UNION NAVAL CONTROL:
2. A fort or ironclad negates Union naval control between that point and all upriver spaces on the same river if the river originates from a Confederate State.
See examples A and B below.

3. Two locations, each with a fort or ironclad, negate Union naval control into the spaces and all spaces between those two locations. To determine this condition locate the downriver space on that river (see letter code) and trace upriver to the furthest upriver space that contains a fort or ironclad. Union naval control is denied in all spaces that fall between these spaces inclusive, potentially including those on other rivers such as in condition 2.

EXAMPLE A. If New Orleans was Union-controlled with a Confederate fort in Vicksburg, MS and another Confederate fort is in Columbus, KY, then Union naval control is denied in Columbus, KY, New Madrid, MO, Memphis, TN, Yazoo City, MS, Arkansas Post and Little Rock, AR (the last two spaces are denied Union control due to condition 2 also). If the fort in Vicksburg were moved to Port Hudson, LA, then all of the Confederate spaces on the Red River would also deny Union naval control.

The Columbus and Ft. St Philip Jackson apply here denying union naval control over all rivers in between (as stated in #3 > Union naval control is denied in all spaces that fall between these spaces inclusive, potentially including those on other rivers such as in condition 2)

Let me know if still not clear as nothing is more complex in this particular game.

Thanks,
Ken
