294 9/21/2018 11:50:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Message I would be willing to try Frederick the Great if we have the same versions. I have the Avalon Hill 1982 book case version and it has 9 yearly scenarios in it. Is this the same version that you have?
293 9/21/2018 4:21:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message PS I would do a trial Frederick the Great if that interests you. I played it a lot back in... the 70s.
292 9/20/2018 6:05:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message I've enjoyed these games and over time you get to know the leaders, units and terrain. Time to move on though. If you want to try Empire of the Sun, that's fine HOWEVER I'll need to get it down from the loft tomorrow and get my head around it, so don't expect any play there for about a week. If you can, I suggest you get the Madison 1812 game so we can have a go with it further down the line.
291 9/20/2018 12:41:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Actually, for the record, you would pick up one more victory point for the raids in 1759 so the total would not be as high as I listed. 8 instead of 9.
290 9/19/2018 9:48:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Forbes wins at St. Jean with a 4 to 1 result eliminating the French force, the stockade and the fieldworks there and gaining 2 more victory points which go from +5 to +7 in the British favor.
Lastly, on the campaign I will activate Bradstreet at Sorel. He will take all four units there and move:
1. St. Francois and eliminate the stockade there.
2. Sorel
3. Montreal where he drops off the reduced 3-4 Royal American
4. Kahnawake to battle the reduced Caughnawaka 0-6 Indian in the stockade there.
This will be automatically a victory although I may lose 1 step and destroy the Indian and the stockade. Net of +2 for the stockades and victory points end at 9 (they would be 11 except for Montcalm's victory at French Creek). Good game and it came down to the final couple of cards and luck at Montreal.
What do you want to play next?

Message from Britain:
2nd Battle at St. Jean:
1st roll attacking British force of 28 factors reduced one column for the fieldworks and with -1 for the stockade to the 22-27 column with -1.
2nd roll defending French with two reduced regulars and one coureur under the 4-5 column with +1 for Drucour.
288 9/19/2018 9:38:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #2: 3 / Campaign
Activate any two leaders and their forces. Select them, then complete all actions by one before the other. No one may move more than once. Both may naval move.

Message from Britain:
Last card: Another campaign!
Activate Forbes in Montreal. He will leave one of the two reduced 1-4 provincials there and move to St. Jean to battle Drucour.
287 9/19/2018 9:32:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Forbes wins at Montreal with a 5 to 1 result. The French force and Villiers are eliminated. I will flip one provincial for my 1 loss factor. Victory points go up 3 for the fortress to +5 in the British Favor although it doesn't matter at this point since I have two of the four spaces, Ohio Forks and Montreal to win. Just for fun, I will play out the last card.

Last two cards.
Use this to activate Forbes at Montreal who will try and increase the siege there.
283 9/19/2018 9:21:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Message You get lucky at French Creek and win with a 4 to 2 result. All four of my units flip and retreat back to Venango. You have 2 step losses, probably flip the Indian and one marine detachment. French pick up 2 Victory points which go from +4 to +2 in the British favor.

Message from Britain:
Amherst will stay and fight at French Creek rather than give you the automatic victory point for the stockade even though the odds are against him.
1st roll Montcalm and his entire force move of three regular 3-4's, two marine detachment 1-4's, one coureur 1-6 and the Potawatomi Indian 1-6 for 13 factors under the 13-16 column with +2 Montcalm and -1 for the stockade for a net of +1.
2nd roll defending British/American force of two 2-4 provincials and two 3-4 British regulars for 10 factors under the 9-12 column with +1 for Amherst
281 9/18/2018 12:02:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #58: 3 / British Regulars
May not be played if British Regulars already played this season. REMOVE Place three 3-4 Regular units and a leader, if available, at any ports.

Message from France:
I could have done with an extra card. My final play will be to try to go down fighting with a possibly close result (and still a British win) or one that is blown wide open due to a lack of a retreat path.

Montcalm and his entire force move (La Belle Famille) – Presque’ile – French Creek to attack your force plus stockade there. No cards form me obviously.
280 9/17/2018 12:40:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Almost, Montreal goes to a siege level 1.

274 9/17/2018 6:42:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message I think you are safe with VPs. It's fun to play out.

Flip both the French regulars.
273 9/16/2018 8:22:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message The French hold at St. Jean with a 2 to 2 result thanks to the fieldworks. I will flip the light infantry and one royal American and retreat back to Sorel. You have 2 step losses and get to retain the fieldworks and remain. Victory points drop 1 and go from +5 to +4 in the British favor. Your go now.

Message from France:
Drucour will attempt interception into Sorel, with his full force. 3-6 needed.
268 9/16/2018 3:56:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Siege level 0 goes down in Montreal.
267 9/16/2018 3:55:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message 2nd move of the campaign:
Activate Bradstreet at Ile aux Noix. He cannot activate the Ranger and the two reduced provincials there but he will take everyone else, 2-6 light Infantry and three 4-4 Royal Americans and move:
1. Montreal
2. Sorel (where Drucour or the Abenaki Indian could intercept)
3. St. Jean to battle Drucour.
Bradstreet has 14 factors and +1 (-1 for stockade).
Drucour has 7 factors and +1. You could pick up a victory point in this battle or lose 2.
266 9/15/2018 2:40:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Message Villiers and his units withdraw into Montreal.

Message from France:
Drucour and his force attempt to intercept into Montreal. +1 for leader means success on 3-6.
264 9/15/2018 2:32:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Message I thought the pox was worth the effort.
263 9/15/2018 12:34:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #1: 3 / Campaign
Activate any two leaders and their forces. Select them, then complete all actions by one before the other. No one may move more than once. Both may naval move.

Message from Britain:
Time for some campaigning:
1st Leader will be Forbes at Winooski. He will take Murray and Webb and all forces but 1 reduced provincial and Loudoun and move:
Ile aux Noix where he drops off Webb and 2 reduced provincials 1-4's and one 2-6 ranger.
Montreal and try to besiege the fortress there.
Do you stand and fight or intercept from St Jean or withdraw into the fortress?
Forbes will have Murray, four 4-4 highlanders, three 3-4 regulars, two 2-4 provincials and one reduced provincial 1-4 for 10 combat units with 30 factors.

Then I will have a 2nd force to move with this card.
262 9/15/2018 12:26:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message I got lucky again. Only 1 small pox factor lost at Winooski. I will flip one of the provincials there.

Small pox roll for Winooski:
260 9/15/2018 7:09:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Event #34: 3 / Small Pox
Choose a space with >4 units. Enemy eliminates steps equal to half a die roll (round up) or a full roll if >8 units present (reduce all before eliminating any). Then remove all Indians.

Message from France:

259 9/13/2018 1:21:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #18: 1 / Amphibious Landing
Play after naval move along Amphib arrow. May not be played same year after Louisbourg Squadrons. The unit or force may land in a French-occupied or -controlled space (place Amphib marker).

Message from Britain:
Time to get a move on. Forbes at New York will take Murray and all of the four Highlander 4-4's and the three provincial 2-4's there and boat move 9 spaces to Winooski stockade joining Loudoun's force there. The only portage was from Hudson Carry South to Hudson Carry North.
258 9/13/2018 1:03:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message 3 = NE on the raid at Concord and the Abenaki 1-6 Indian goes home to St. Francois.

256 9/13/2018 1:47:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message Looking ahead:

1. I'm away from home until late on Friday, so assume the usual might/might not have internet issue.

2. Is there anything you would be interested in playing after this? I'm OK with getting something out that hasn't seen the light of day for a long time (or ever).
255 9/13/2018 1:45:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #10: 1 / Fieldworks
Play before Battle if you have Drilled Troops. If defending, place marker--attacker shifts 1 column left. If attacking, remove defender's marker. (Marker also removed anytime owner chooses or if attackers win.)

Abenaki 1-6 (White Mountains North) – Concord and RAID. Please roll.
254 9/12/2018 6:12:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #43: 2 / Raise Regiments

253 9/12/2018 5:42:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #44: 2 / Raise Regiments
May not be played if Assemblies Reluctant. Within Assemblies track limits, place 4 Northern or 2 Southern Provincial units at any fortifications in their Department, or restore all Provincials of one Department to full.

Message from Britain:
I almost forgot: Roll for the Huron 0-6 (Allegheny South)– infiltrate Augusta – Culpepper RAID: under the cultivated column with -1 for two militia in the department.
250 9/10/2018 3:20:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #60: 3 / Highlanders
If 1755 scenario, play only after 1758 or William Pitt. REMOVE Place four 4-4 Highland units and two leaders, if available, at any ports.

Message from Britain:
Four Highlanders and two leaders! I can't pass this one up. I think with Louisbourg having a -1 on the siege roll and both leaders having 0 for tactics makes me think that I better go for Montreal or Niagara with only a few cards left. Place all four highlanders and the remaining two leaders, Forbes and Murray at New York.
249 9/10/2018 12:56:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #16: 1 / George Croghan
British frontier trader provides scouts.
Play after activating a Drilled Troops unit or a force that includes Drilled
Troops.
The unit or force does not have to stop after passing through Wilderness
spaces.

Message from France:
Indians try their best.

1. Abenaki 1-6 (Notre Dame Mountains) – White Mountains North.

2. Huron 0-6 (Allegheny South) – infiltrate Augusta – Culpepper RAID. Your forces might stymie that!
248 9/10/2018 8:30:00 AM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #22: 3 / Governor Vaudreuil
Choose any 2 unbesieged French leaders on the map and reverse their locations. (You may not choose Louisbourg if "Louisbourg Squadrons" removal has disallowed French naval movement.)

Message from Britain:
Use this to place stockades at:
French Creek
Winooski
Ile aux Noix
247 9/10/2018 1:31:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #36: 2 / Fran‡ois Bigot
French player randomly discards one card. (Discarded "Surrender!" card causes Reshuffle.)

Message from France:
A move to cover key cities.

Drucour and his force move (Quebec) - St Jean.
246 9/9/2018 12:45:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Message I should probably have burnt that and moved back, but a key city is perilously close and I wanted to get some sort of additional force onto the mainland.

Am pondering.
245 9/8/2018 6:46:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Bradstreet wins at Ile aux Noix with a 2 to NE result. The marine detachment is eliminated and so is the stockade with no losses to the British/American force. Victory points go up 1 for the battle win against regulars and 1 more for the stockade loss and go from +3 to +5 in the British favor. Since there was a fortification involved this is not an overrun and Bradstreet and his force must stop here. So it is your go now. 8 cards remaining.

Message from Britain:
The marine detachment would fail to avoid battle back to Montreal (even if he wanted to) so I will go ahead and roll for the battle at Ile aux Noix.
1st roll attacking American/British force with Bradstreet and 4 combat units (three 4-4's and one 2-6 light Infantry) for 14 factors with +1 for Bradstreet and -1 for the stockade.
2nd roll defending marine detachment 1-4 under the 1 column with no adds.

Message from Britain:
Roll to see if the marine detachment could avoid battle back to Montreal. He would need a 4-6.
242 9/8/2018 6:34:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #17: 1 / Amphibious Landing
Play after naval move along Amphib arrow. May not be played same year after Louisbourg Squadrons. The unit or force may land in a French-occupied or -controlled space (place Amphib marker).

Message from Britain:
Use this to activate Bradstreet at Winooski. He will take the three royal Americans 4-4's and the light Infantry 2-6 and move to Ile aux Noix. If the marine detachment there avoids battle back to Montreal, I will destroy the stockade and move to St. Jean and destroy the stockade there before moving back to Ile aux Noix.
241 9/8/2018 1:07:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #42: 3 / British Politics
Slide Provincial Assemblies marker one box in a favorable direction. (If French play, British player removes Provincials as needed.)

Message from France:
Naval move time. I don’t think there is anything in force to prohibit this.

Leaving a 3-4 behind, Drucour naval moves (Louisbourg) – Quebec, according to 6.4, with a 1-6 Coureur and two 3-4 regulars.
240 9/8/2018 12:57:00 PM 1759 Late Season France Message Now... what to do with these final cards?
239 9/8/2018 2:13:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message It was a longish shot, but worth the effort to try to staunch the VP losses. I don't think it will affect the game outcome though.

I will need to do some board tidying up.
238 9/7/2018 9:33:00 PM 1759 Late Season Britain Message Well, your brave coureur does a fine job of intercepting the advancing British force at Winooski and inflicts 1 step loss on the British which will flip one more provincial as he goes down fighting a terrific rear guard action. Victory points stay at +3 for the British and the marine detachment and stockade remain at Ile aux Noix.
Loudoun's force at Winooski is now:
Webb, Bradstreet;
one 2-6 ranger, one 2-6 light infantry, three 1-4 reduced provincials, three 3-4 regulars, three 4-4 Royal Americans for 28 factors and 11 combat units.

Message from Britain:
Paul, you are so right on that. I apologize. I didn't see the interception possibility. If the coureur succeeds in intercepting and inflicting a casualty it will save you two victory points and the marine detachment. Looks like about a 25% chance of getting both. So I will roll for that possibility.
1st roll for the interception attempt by the coureur from Ile aux Noix into Winooski. He would need a 4-6.
2nd roll for the defending coureur at Winooski under the 1 column with no adds assuming he successfully intercepts.
No need to roll for the advancing British since they will inflict greater than 2 steps.
236 9/7/2018 3:26:00 AM 1759 Late Season France Message OK roll back to 231. The Coureur at I-a-N can attempt to intercept Loudon as he moves into Winooski. If he succeeds and if he forces a loss (so that is 50% x 50%) Loudon has to stop and face attrition.

I think I am right on this. Roll it out if you agree. The chances are your original move will stand.
235 9/6/2018 11:13:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain End Turn
234 9/6/2018 11:12:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Message British win at Ile aux Noix with a 4 to 1 result despite being outrolled. I will flip the one provincial there for my 1 loss factor. Both the marine detachment and the coureur are eliminated as well as the stockade. Victory points go up 1 for the stockade and 1 for defeating the win against regulars and go from +3 to +5 in the British favor.

231 9/6/2018 11:06:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #47: 3 / Troop Transports
French may not play after Quiberon or if Quebec is British controlled. Restore 3 French or 6 British reduced Regular or Light Infantry units to full strength.

Message from Britain:
I was hoping to use this to unflip some regulars but since my losses at Crown Point were light, I decided to flip the provincials and surge ahead with the forces at hand. Use this to activate Loudoun again. He will leave the fort under construction and move all troops and leaders to Winooski where he drops off Bradstreet and one 2-6 ranger and the two reduced provincials. Then he continues to Ile aux Noix to battle the French and the stockade there. You could try and avoid battle with the marine detachment to try to save a victory point so I'll roll to see if that possibility exists.
230 9/6/2018 10:57:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Message Assault at Crown Point is successful with a 4 to 2 result. The French force of three regulars and one coureur and Vaudreuil is eliminated. I will flip two provincials for my 2 loss factors. Victory points go up 2 for the British from +1 to +3 in the British favor.

2nd roll defending French force of three regulars and one coureur for 10 factors with no adds.

227 9/6/2018 10:47:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #48: 3 / Victories in Germany
Play after 1755. French may not play after Quiberon or if Quebec is British controlled. Roll a die and restore to full strength that number of reduced Regular or Light Infantry units.

Message from Britain:
Use this to activate Loudoun at Crown Point. He will attempt to increase the siege level again and if successful, then assault.
226 9/6/2018 2:47:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #15: 1 / Lake Schooner
Play when enemy moves into friendly fortification space along lake connection (Ontario or Erie shore, or anywhere from Ile-aux-Noix to Hudson Carry North). Enemy stops in the previously occupied space.

Message from Britain:
Siege roll for Loudoun's force at Crown Point with no adds. Both leaders have a 0 tactics rating.
223 9/4/2018 5:12:00 PM 1759 Early Season France Message I'll let you roll 1. for the satisfaction and 2. because I am in catch-up following a Notary day. I think we have all the currently required documentation sorted out. It was time sensitive.
222 9/4/2018 5:10:00 PM 1759 Early Season France Message I think it is a one use card. You could argue that the mortars are still there, but response cards are TO a card play. Assume the ammunition has run out.
221 9/3/2018 9:03:00 AM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #35: 3 / Courier Intercepted!
On a roll of 3-6, randomly draw one card from opponent's hand and place it in your own.

Message from Britain:
If your coehorns card has been discarded from the last use and no longer in use then I will play this to activate Loudoun at Crown Point to conduct a siege again. However, if you feel that it is still in effect, I will use this in another way. I have looked at the rules and errata and do not find anything definitive either way. Most response cards are discarded after a one time use. Fieldworks response card is also discarded but it has a counter that remains in play after its use as a defense IF it is successful in defending the space. Coehorns event has no corresponding counter. What do you think?
220 9/3/2018 8:56:00 AM 1759 Early Season Britain Message Average results on the raid rolls:
Potawatomi 1-6 Trenton RAID is a success, a raid marker goes down and Potawatomi Indian goes home to Pays d'en Haut.
Caughnawaga 1-6 Concord RAID gets a NE result. Caughnawaga Indian goes home to Kahnawake.
Ojibwa 1-6 Gloucester RAID gets a 1 result. Ojibwa Indian flips to 0-6 and goes home to Pays d'en Haut.
There are now two raid markers on the map. One in Trenton and one at Portsmouth.

218 9/2/2018 7:00:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #33: 2 / Indians Desert
Eliminate up to two unbesieged enemy Indian units from any one space. (Remove Allied markers)

Message from France:
You don’t have stacked Indians so I’ll play this for the Ops and move 4 Indians. Please resolve raids.

a. Potawatomi 1-6 (Tioga) – Wyoming etc. - infiltrate Easton and – Trenton to RAID.

b. Abenaki 1-6 (St Francois) – Notre Dame Mountains.

c. Caughnawaga 1-6 (White Mountains Central) – Concord and RAID.

d. Ojibwa 1-6 (White Mountains North) – Gloucester and RAID.

Message from France:
Crown Point siege.
215 9/2/2018 6:51:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Event #8: 1 / Coehorns & How.
Play if you have Regulars attacking or defending in a siege and/or assault. Receive +2 on a siege roll if attacking or -2 if defending, as well as +2 on the CRT in an assault.

Message from France:
Correct. This provides a -2. You will need a 5-6 on the siege roll to go to assault.
214 8/31/2018 5:33:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Event #3: 3 / Campaign
Activate any two leaders and their forces. Select them, then complete all actions by one before the other. No one may move more than once. Both may naval move.

Message from Britain:
Use this as an event to activate two leaders and their forces.
1st I will activate Amherst at Laurel Ridge North. He will move all four combat units (two 2-4 provincials, two 3-4 regulars) through the newly built stockades to French Creek.

2nd move will be to activate Loudoun at Crown Point who will conduct a siege and try to take the fort there. You might have siege guns or some other card that would affect this roll (or even the other move) so I will let you decide and roll.
213 8/31/2018 2:55:00 PM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #45: 2 / Raise Regiments
May not be played if Assemblies Reluctant. Within Assemblies track limits, place 4 Northern or 2 Southern Provincial units at any fortifications in their Department, or restore all Provincials of one Department to full.

Message from France:
I think you might soon be able to use logs my forces have left behind.

Move the 1-4 Marine (Presquile) – La Belle Famille to join the one already there.
212 8/31/2018 3:18:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Message Have been doing legal things (nothing bad, but a time sink). Will make a play later.
211 8/28/2018 3:48:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #23: 2 / Northern Indian
Play if you control Montreal. Place BLUE or--if you have a fort at Niagara-- BLUE/ORANGE Indian units totalling half a die roll (rounded up), or a full roll if French VP >4. Place units at their settlements. For every 1 you could place, you may instead restore 2 to full.

Message from Britain:
We see the smoke of the burning stockades. Meanwhile, our men are busy chopping down trees and building stockades. Use this to place stockades at Kittaning and Venango.
210 8/28/2018 2:39:00 PM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #12: 1 / Ambush!
Play before Battle in Wilderness or Mountain if you have Auxiliaries. May not be played if enemy has Fort, Light Infantry, or more Auxiliary units than you. Fire first, double strength (before any column shifts), unless enemy also ambushes.

Message from France:
I don’t see a likely situation where I have the chance to use this. Activate the 1-4 Marine in French Creek. It moves to La Belle Famille, destroying the stockade behind it. Meanwhile in tune with the air of destruction the Presqu’ile stockade is destroyed (after that 1-4 has moved through) leaving the 1-4 Marine bivouacking there.
209 8/27/2018 10:54:00 AM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #49: 1 / Call Out Militias
Place 1 Militia unit into a Militia Box or restore 2 to full strength.

Message from Britain:
I should use this in the Northern militia box but time is fleeting and I want to press for a two pronged attack. Use this to activate Wolfe at Carlisle. He takes all 6 units there (1-6 provincial, 2-6 ranger, 2-6 light infantry, 3-4 regular and two 4-4's) and moves:
Raystown, Laurel Ridge North, Kettaning where he drops off the two 4-4's and the 3-4 and the 2-6 light infantry,
then Venango where he drops off the 1-4 provincial
then back to Kettaning with the 2-6 ranger.
208 8/27/2018 10:48:00 AM 1759 Early Season Britain Message Seneca Indian eliminates the Mississauga 0-6 Indian at Gannagaro with a "NE to 1" result. Mississauga Indian settlement removed.

200 8/25/2018 10:56:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Play Strategy card as Operations #31: 3 / Cherokee Uprising
Play if Cherokees event has occurred. REMOVE British player must eliminate (as available, unbesieged) two Regular, one Southern Provincial, and all Cherokee (GREEN) Indian units (flip marker), and may not play Cherokees event.

Message from France:
Big movement of Indians. I’ll take it in two parts due to your reaction opportunities.

1. Abenaki 1-6 (White Mountains North) – Portsmouth and RAID.

2. Caughanwaga 1-6 (Notre Dame Mountains) – White Mountians Central.

3. Ojibwa 1-6 (Green Mountains North) – White Mountains North.

4. Potawatomi 1-6 (Pays d’en Haut) – Gannagaro – Cayuga – Tioga with intercept opportunities for you.

Please roll raid and decide / play out any intercepts before I make the next two moves.
199 8/25/2018 10:46:00 AM 1759 Early Season France Message > the Abenaki Indian and they go home.

A neat thing about the Vassal is that you can right click on an Indian and choose to send it home.
198 8/23/2018 2:09:00 PM 1759 Early Season Britain Play Strategy card as Operations #26: 2 / Western Indian
