549 2/20/2019 8:06:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Without the rail connection at Nashville, that move from Franklin to Columbia would cost 2 and 2 more to Decatur, then you would need 1 to convert Decatur, then it would only cost 1 to move to Steven but your 6 movement points would be up. The rail segment from Franklin to Columbia is yours but it is not connected to the North or a port at this time without Nashville or Decatur. Dover is a port and to move into Franklin would only cost 1 but there is no rail from Dover to Franklin on my map. So at this point there in not a rail connection or rail head adjacent to Columbia. I may have overexplained and made this clear as mud. Taking Nashville will cost me a bunch of SW and you will gain a bunch pf SW and solve these problems (not that I want you to burn the city).
548 2/19/2019 11:38:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message Aha, forgot about Decatur, appreciate your pointing that out! You ARE making this difficult! :-)

AoCumb moves instead from Franklin to Columbia, then Decatur, the Steven...now your options??

Then if no intercept to Chattanooga

547 2/19/2019 11:03:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message I will not intercept at Tullahoma. Those moves would cost you 2 points each plus 1 each for conversion since Decatur is Southern controlled and so is Nashville. Do you want to modify this move?
546 2/18/2019 11:54:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #56: 1 / CSS Hunley
Place the CSS Hunley marker in any friendly port. Provides a +1 DRM to Confederate during next amphibious assault. Remove Hunley once modifier has been used. No more than one Hunley can be in play at a given time.

Message from Union:
AoCumb (n12) moves from Franklin, Murfreesboro (converts), then to Tullahoma...your options??
545 2/17/2019 6:38:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #70: 2 / Gustavus Fox, Ironclad Building Program
The Union Amphibious Assault modifier is increased by two.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to activate Albert S. Johnston and the AoM (4 SPs and generals Stuart, Bragg and Hardee).
1. Steven AL
2. Decatur
3. Tuscumbia
4. Corinth
5. Oxford where they pick up the 2 SPs there (n6)
6. Grand Jct.
544 2/17/2019 6:34:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message I will remove the 3 SPs for the emancipation proclamation as follows:
1 SP from Fayetteville, Ark, Price now with 1 SP
1 SP from Sabine, TX (now 0) (I probably won't get another SP here anyway with the blockade at 4)
1 SP from Weldon, NC (now 0)
543 2/16/2019 7:23:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #81: 3 / Emancipation Proclamation - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player must play this card as an EC on the Strategy Round immediately following a Union large or medium battle victory. Confederate loses 10 SW and 3 SPs (his choice). Union loses 5 SW. Flip GT marker to its Emancipation Proclamation side. Card must be the last one played by a player at which time it can be played as an OC card. If the play of this card as an OC results in a battle victory, there is no Emancipation Proclamation Remove from deck if event is played. If this card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at the end of the Strategy Phase.

Message from Union:
You did pay off the dice roller...geez a 6 to 2! Should have been the other way round ! :-)

Remove 3SPs from the South and down -10 from 52- to 42-.
Yanks take -5 from 66- to 61-
542 2/16/2019 9:42:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Lee, if I calculated correctly, is successful at Chattanooga and receives a 3* result against the Union AoM vs a "2" result. This was a medium battle with a total of 19 SPs. This forces a retreat (rout) and eliminates the Union Army of Missouri. Those 4 generals will re-enter the game next turn. There was no general casualties since both sides were out of supply. Confederate Army of Tennessee drops from 5 to 3 SPs at Chattanooga. Union Strategic Will drops from 79+ by 10 for the loss of the army and 3 more for the change down to 66- SW. Confederate SW stays at 52- but this would have been a rallying point for the South. Trains of Union prisoners would be heading South and much captured equipment would have been a boost to the Southern defenders. Still not all is rosy for the South. ASJohnston's Army of Mississippi is out of supply and with only 4 SPs is not looking forward to Grant's move.

Message from Confederate:
Battle of Chattanooga:
1st roll attacking Confederate Army of Tennessee under Lee with 5 SPs and +6 for Generals Lee, Morgan and APHill and +2 for defender out of supply for a net of +8.
2nd roll defending Union Army of Missouri under Reynolds with 14 SPs (not quite enough for 3-1 odds). No cavalry makes makes Reynolds combat rating at 0 and can add only one general but Thomas adds +3 to the defense. Also, the Confederates are out of supply at the instant of battle gives another +2 for a net of +5.
540 2/16/2019 9:21:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Battle at Stevens, Al:
Confederate Army of Tennessee with 6 SPs and +6 for Generals and +4 for 5-1+ odds +2 for defender out of supply = automatic roll of 10 and a 3* result.
Union 1 SP with no adds on the medium battle results in a 1 result.
Net outcome: Union 1 SP eliminated and Confederate Army of Tennessee is down to 5 SPs.
Lee being the bold general that he was will continue to Chattanooga with his last movement point and hit the Union AoM which is not a sure thing but the Union lack of cavalry gives him an advantage. Chattanooga is adjacent to a railhead at Missionary Ridge so this should take only 1 movement point which is all he has left which doesn't leave any to convert Stevens and makes both sides out of supply.

537 2/14/2019 11:38:00 PM Fall 1864 Confederate Message 2nd move of the minor campaign:
Activate Lee and the AoT at Grand Jct. He will take all 6 SPs and generals AP Hill and Ewell and Morgan and march:
1. Corinth
2. Tuscumbia
3. Decatur (if you have another 2 space interception card you can use it here)
4. convert Decatur
5. Steven and battle the 1 SP left there. Reynolds and the AoM could intercept if he rolls a 1.
If not, this battle should be automatic and Lee will continue.
I'll await your response to these desperate measures sir.
536 2/14/2019 10:07:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message This battle will trigger Emancipation Proclamation if the card is in our hands.
Now I need to figure out what to do with my 2nd action of this minor campaign.
535 2/14/2019 10:01:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Battle at Chattanooga results in a 1 to 3* result. The Confederate force of 2 is eliminated. AoM drops to 14 SPs. Longstreet will return next turn.

Message from Confederate:
Longstreet marches into Chattanooga but finds that Reynolds and the AoM have intercepted him and his Nashville survivors. A medium battle ensues. Confederates are out of supply.
1st roll attacking Longstreet with 2 SPs and +2 for Longstreet.
Defending AoM with 15 SPs +2 for interception and +4 for odds and +6 for generals and +2 for opponent out of supply for a net of +12 give an automatic "10" roll. This will give a 3* result and eliminate the Confederate force of 2 with no need to roll.
However, the 2nd roll is for the possible kill of Confederate leader Longstreet since the Union will get a 10. He is killed on a roll of 1. Otherwise, he will re-enter next turn.
533 2/14/2019 2:26:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message Yep, AoMoLand (n15)
532 2/11/2019 11:13:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message No attack cards for me. Longstreet will have to get a lucky. I assume this interception is by the AoM.
531 2/10/2019 9:51:00 PM Fall 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #103: 3 / Seven Days/Chattanooga
Either player may move 2 SPs using Strategic Movement from the same space using rail connections only (10 space maximum) to the same space with a General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more enemy SPs or fort. OR play this card as an automatic 2 space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during the intercept.

Message from Union:
Will use this card to intercept Longstreet when he moves into Chattanooga...

Any attack cards to play?
530 2/9/2019 10:12:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #121: 3 / Minor Campaign

516 1/30/2019 1:22:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Good move on your part putting my AoM and Longstreet OOS.
Only a couple of corrections:
That would be Kentucky and not Tennessee that converted to Union Control. Strategic Will calculations looked correct. Union now controls all border states.
Washington DC had 5 at the beginning of the turn but Halleck took 2 out for the Union AoT leaving 3 at WDC and with attrition it now drops to 2. See log 500 for that move.
I made some mistakes during this last turn and I didn't have a good hand. I hope I can recover and give you a better game.

507 1/21/2019 11:37:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #74: 2 / Political Crisis
The Union player may remove or demote one Union general for no SW cost. The cost for promoting a general with a lower political value still applies. OR remove ANY Union non-commanding general (even second in commands) from the game.

506 1/21/2019 4:32:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message OK, Dan...re-read the rule again and concur...this has been an anomolie in a bunch of my other games. Hard concept to grasp or master.

Got it now => AoTenn (n10) at Rogersville converted.
505 1/21/2019 11:08:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message According to section 19 Railroad Logistics Variant that we are using, it changes 8.13 to define a Railroad LOC as a lOC where a friendly space with a rail connection can trace a path of contiguous friendly (not neutral) controlled rail spaces either to an ultimate supply source or for the Union to a friendly controlled in-supply port. Wytheville fails to have a path of contiguous rail spaces to an ultimate supply source or a friendly port. It has a LOC for supply but not a path of RAIL spaces as the spaces in West Virginia do not have rail and the connecting spaces in Virginia are not friendly to the Union at this time.
504 1/20/2019 10:20:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Rail link between Saltville & Wytheville doesn't qualify for Logistics? It is LOC...me thinks it does...what say you?
503 1/20/2019 8:42:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Good move on your part but you moved too far. Since you don't have a railroad LOC at Wytheville it would cost 2 movement points to move to Saltville, one more to convert and 2 movement points to move to Rogersville overrunning the 1 SPs there and then one more to convert makes the 6 movement points. You could get to Knoxville if you don't convert both spaces.
502 1/19/2019 11:29:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #115: 2 / Galveston
The Confederate player may move 1 SP from a blockade runner port (open or closed) to its associated ungarrisoned Union controlled coastal fort (no Union SP present) and immediately place a Confederate PC marker (does not require a LOC) in the Coastal fort space. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
AoTenn (n10) moves from Wytheville to Saltville (converts), then to Rogersville (OVER-RUNs the 1SP there & converts), then ends in Knoxville...cannot convert since I have no more MPs to do so... :-(
501 1/19/2019 10:54:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #126: 1 / Valley Devastation
If Union infantry SPs occupy all three Shenandoah Valley spaces the Union player places a destroyed Resource marker in all Shenandoah Valley spaces. These destroyed Resource markers cannot be removed and prevent the Confederate player from using the Shenandoah valley as a supply source for the remainder of the game. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:

Message from Confederate:
I realize how fortunate I was to have Longstreet escape that trap in Nashville and then to win the battle against such odds.

473 12/27/2018 12:57:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #99: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Confederate:
Glad you had a super trip.
I had so many options with this one that it was hard to decide. Sorry for the delay.
I'll use this as an event and first activate AJohnston and the AoM at Knoxville. He will take 3 SPs and all of the generals except Van Dorn and move:
1. Clinton (where Curtis could intercept if he rolls a 1)
2. Convert Clinton back to its Southern roots.
3. Somerset and battle Curtis if he didn't intercept at Clinton.
Small battle:
Confederates with 3 SPs and +4 for generals
Union with 2 SPs and +3 for Curtis and fort.
I'll let you decide on interception or withdrawal and if you want, you may roll for the battle.
Van Dorn and 2 SPs remain in Knoxville.
472 12/26/2018 6:31:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message Yes, you got me right...it was Madison...I had a super trip...hope YOur Christmas was just as enjoybable...and I'm back in the saddle once again!
471 12/21/2018 10:10:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Message I think you meant Madison, AK for that 1 SP instead of Elizabeth. You would run out of movement points getting back to Humboldt.
It may take me a little while to figure out how to end the turn. Good move on your part.
Enjoy the Christmas holiday and God bless you and yours.
470 12/20/2018 11:19:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Message I will be leaving for a visit with the grandkids on Sat, 12/22. Won't be back into the game till my return on the 26th.
Hope you have wonderful Christmas with family and friends!
469 12/20/2018 4:45:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #45: 3 / Food Shortage
Confederate loses SW equal to current Union blockade value.

Message from Union:
AoCumb (n7) converts Grand Jct & leaves 1SP there (n6), moves to Memphis, then to Elizabeth (drops 1 - n5), then back to Memphis, then ends in Humboldt.
468 12/20/2018 10:57:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #7: 1 / Mud March
Interrupt enemy force currently moving to no more than one space of movement. (Converting a space counts as movement.) Applies to only one move during a Major or Minor campaign card, but not a special army-naval move.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to activate Hood at Camden, Ark. He takes the 2 SPs there and moves:
1. Monroe and picks up the 2 SPs there (n4)
2. Shreveport and drops 1 SP (n3 with Hood and 2 in Shreveport)
3&4. Marshall, TX where he drops 1 SP (n2)
5&6. Nacogdoches where he drops 1 SP (n1)
7&8. Sabine, TX where he ends the move with 1 SP.
This won't liberate Texas but hopefully will give the Sabine blockade runner port back for a while.
467 12/20/2018 2:09:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Message Yep, see that at #347...sorry, did not have it on my board.

AoTenn n5 after the battle with the 1SP at Wytheville.
466 12/17/2018 10:47:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Message I apologize for the delay but I had dumped stuff on my desk trying to thin out some files and couldn't easily get my boards out. On the Battle of Little Rock the result was 1* to 1 and even though I got the * result it was a resource space (even though it was destroyed) so Hood doesn't take the fort or the space but bounces back to Camden with 2 SPs.
On your move I had a 1 SP force at Wytheville which you will need to battle (which shouldn't be a problem) but that will leave Sherman's AoT at 5 SPs. See log #347 where this SP was placed. Is that OK?
465 12/14/2018 4:57:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #113: 2 / Washington Defenses

462 12/14/2018 10:06:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #28: 1 / Franz Sigel
Union immediately receives one SP in St. Louis, MO space if no Confederate SPs or fort are present, whether it is controlled by either side or neutral; OR Confederate plays card at the beginning of a battle and receives a +2 DRM in the battle.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to activate Hood in Mobile, Al. He will take the 3 SPs there and move:
Winchester
Holmsville
Jackson
Vicksburg
Monroe drop 1 SP (n2 with Hood and 2 in Monroe)
Camden and pick up the 1 SP there (n3)
Little Rock to attack the 1 SP in the fort there.
Hood should have +1 for his attack factor and +2 for the 3-1 odds for a net of +3.
Union will have +2 for the fort.
You may have an interrupt so I'll let you decide and roll.

461 12/13/2018 12:39:00 PM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #22: 3 / Josiah Gorgas, Chief of Ordnance

460 12/13/2018 9:01:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #106: 3 / British Clydeside Shipyards

AoC drops from 9 to 7 SPs and occupies Grand Jct but didn't have the 2-1 advantage to continue. Looks like a Union general dies. I'll let you roll to see which one comes up.
