284 10/16/2018 1:30:00 AM Spring 1863 Confederate Message I'm thinking. So many options and ways to mess up at this point. lol
283 10/15/2018 1:19:00 AM Spring 1863 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #129: 2 / USS Cairo Hits Mine and Sinks
Reduce Union Amphibious Assault modifier by 1. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Union:
AoCumb (n7) moves from Frankfort to Lexington (p/u 1 - n8), then to Somverset (p/u Pope & 4SPs - AoCumb n12 & Somerset n0), then to Clinton & converts...believe that is all the further I may move...
282 10/14/2018 11:15:00 PM Spring 1863 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #14: 3 / Red River Campaign
May not be discarded by the Union. Union must use this card as an OC. If at the conclusion of movement, a Union SP is not on or adjacent to Grand Ecore, LA, then the Union loses 5 SW points. If a Union SP is in one of the objective spaces then a Union PC marker can immediately be placed to convert the space or spaces. Remove from deck if Union plays card.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to place a Confederate fort at Vicksburg.
281 10/14/2018 5:58:00 PM Spring 1863 Union Message I agree, thanks for the correction!
280 10/14/2018 4:35:00 PM Spring 1863 Confederate Message Union SW was already at 113- from the end of turn 6 war weariness 5 point loss plus 3 more for the change to negative. See log entry 259. Dropping 6 more for demoting Burnside and promoting Grant would drop Union SW to 107-. Agree?
279 10/13/2018 10:31:00 PM Spring 1863 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #55: 1 / CSS Tennessee
Confederate may place one Ironclad in a controlled port or coastal fort space.

265 10/8/2018 8:50:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message That series of rolls was supposed to be the blockade runner rolls. I guess I only get the 1st one which was to be at Mobile, Al. (n2)
Confederate SW drops 6 for blockade runners from 78- to 72-.
Your go for strategic movement.
264 10/8/2018 12:36:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message I hit the wrong button before I could finish typing.

262 9/30/2018 7:05:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message LOL, yeah figured you didn't have a 3 card when you re-distributed all of Jackson's force to elim attrit....and yes, I didn't have the cards this turn to do much. Dissappointing turn except I now have an amphib force that is what I was hoping for...

Yank reinforcements:
8 to WDC - n8
6 to Cinncy - n6
4 to Cairo - n9
261 9/30/2018 5:52:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message I was hoping to get a low roll for the Paducah attack to avoid a possible leader loss but I needed to keep Kentucky for one more turn if I could. As you can see, I didn't have a "3" card to build a fort in Vicksburg to challenge your Southwest expedition and I was hoping you didn't have one either to move Halleck.
260 9/30/2018 5:49:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message This looks correct except Memphis had only 2 SPs I think. Log entry 222 was the last time Memphis was listed and I brought the strength up to 2 at that time. Not sure of the Union attrition but I think it is correct. I don't have the board or my notes with me.
We arrived in Portland, Or. but it was a long day for us after getting up at 3:30 am our time.

Battle for Paducah (med):

4th for Reb Gens
256 9/28/2018 7:32:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Message On log #211 at item #2 Lee did leave only 1 SP in the Dover fort as he passed through to Paducah but then if you read on down to item #4 he dropped off Longstreet and 1 SP (making 2 at Dover) on his way back through Dover to battle at Bowling Green.
I will be traveling for the next week starting Saturday so there will be about an 8 day delay in the game after today.
255 9/27/2018 11:40:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Since msg #211, there has only been 1SP in Dover...does that make a difference in your move?
254 9/27/2018 9:16:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #11: 2 / Nathaniel Lyon
Union places or flips three PC markers in Missouri. The spaces may not contain Confederate SPs or forts.

Message from Confederate:
Yes, Longstreet will not try and intercept at Paducah.
Use this to activate AS Johnson and the AoM at Humboldt, TN. He will take the entire force of 4 SPs and generals and move:
1. McKenzie
2. Dover where he picks up Longstreet and 1 SP (leaving 1 SP in the fort) (AoM now 5)
3. Paducah and fight Burnside and the AoC.
Burnside could try and avoid battle back to Cairo or stay and fight.
253 9/27/2018 2:45:00 AM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #2: 2 / Copperheads
Reduce Union SW by two points, or place two PC markers in Ohio (must be placed in spaces free of Union SPs).

Message from Union:
I, too, had a very poor offensive hand...but then I should not complain...my cards have been VERY good up till this season!

AoCumb (n6) leaves New Madrid to Greenville, then to Irontown, then Cairo (p/u 3SPs - Cairo n0 & AoCumb n9), then to Paducah...may intercept with Longstreet & 1SP, but think you probably won't, so end the move by converting the space.
252 9/27/2018 12:52:00 AM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #36: 1 / Elite Units
Place an Elite unit marker in any space with an Army. CSA: Stonewall Bde or Hood’s Tigers. USA: Iron Bde or Wilder’s Bde. Cannot be played if all elite unit markers are in play for that side.

Message from Confederate:
Activate Van Dorn in Vicksburg. He takes 1 SP which leaves 2 SP in Vicksburg and moves:
1. Jackson and picks up 4 SP from AoSW (now 2 in AoSW and 5 with Van Dorn)
2. Grand Gulf and drop 2 SPs (n3 with Van Dorn)
3. Holmsville and drop 1 SP (n2 with Van Dorn)
4. Jackson
5. Canton City where he ends with the 2 SPs.
Just farming out the boys to keep down attrition and disease since I can't cross the big river.
251 9/26/2018 1:27:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Message Yanks again prevail and loose 1SP (n3) and finishes the turn by converting the space.

247 9/25/2018 11:01:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #32: 3 / Dixie Land
Confederate defiance against the “War of Northern Aggression” hardens. Increase Confederate SW by three points.

246 9/25/2018 9:24:00 PM Fall 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #120: 1 / Horace Greeley Editorial
If played by the Union increase Union SW by 1. If played by the Confederate decrease Union SW by 1.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to move Wheeler's cavalry from Bowling Green, Ky and the AoT (n5) to Jackson, Ms (AoSW n6). I think that is 10 spaces.
245 9/24/2018 3:33:00 PM Fall 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #4: 1 / Costly Mistake
Pick an enemy army with two or more subordinate generals (includes Cavalry Generals) and randomly determine a target general. On a die roll of 1-3 the chosen general is killed and removed from play. On a die roll of 4-6 the general is wounded and removed from play, but re-enters during the reinforcement phase of the next game turn.

218 9/17/2018 12:56:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Typo, that was AoM at 2 SPs after the Elizabeth Battle (and I incorrectly typed AoT).

Union SW reduced by two.

Message from Confederate:
I would like to use this to take a small bite out of your SW but I think I will do some OPS instead. Use this to activate the AoM at Humboldt. AS Johnston will drop 1 SP there (n3 in AoM) and move:
1. Memphis
2. Madison, AK
3. Elizabeth, AK and battle the union 1 SP there. Burnside could try and intercept so I'll roll to see if that possibility exists.

211 9/16/2018 3:34:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #129: 2 / USS Cairo Hits Mine and Sinks
Reduce Union Amphibious Assault modifier by 1. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Sometimes I make more rule mistakes when I assume that I know the rules than when looking them over closely.
Use this to activate Lee and the Confederate Army of Tennessee at Nashville. He will leave 1 SP in Nashville and move the other 7 and generals to:
1. Clarksville (he will not pick up Wheeler yet)
2. Dover where he picks up Smith and 2 SPs (n9 in AoT) which places Smith 2nd in command since he has a higher political rating than Longstreet. This leaves 1 SP in Dover fort.
3. Paducah (1 movement point since it is adjacent to a rail head) where he battles the 3 SPs there. This will be a medium battle.
Attacking Confederates with 9 SPs and +9 (+3 Lee, +2 Longstreet, +2 Morgan and +2 for 3-1 odds) should automatically give a 10 with a 3* result.
Defending Union with 3 SPs and +0 should give a 1 result on any die roll. Thus, there is no need to roll. No leader casualties since there was 3-1 odds. This will make the AoT now 8 SPs.
4. Lee will drop 1 SP in Paducah (n7 in AoT) and continue moving by moving back to Dover where he drops off Longstreet and 1 more SP. This makes 6 in AoT and 2 at Dover with Longstreet.
5. Clarksville where Lee picks up Wheeler and his cavalry (n7)
6. Bowling Green where he battles the 2 SPs there. Of course, your AoM can and probably should try and intercept, but I'll let you decide and roll. If you successfully intercept we would both have +6 I think. With no interception the Confederates will lose 1 SP and end up with 6 SP in AoT at Bowling Green and the Union 2 SPs there will be lost.
210 9/15/2018 7:36:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Re-read 7.33B...you are correct! Yanks enter Marschall...sorry for the flip-flop! You have it correct.
209 9/15/2018 2:43:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message In the Battle at Marschall...You were defending in a Resource space...I had to achieve a "stared" combat result to win the battle AND loose LESS SPs than you...so, the Rebs win the day & you survive the onslaught.
You are correct,,,forgot that you do not have a fort to support the existance of Jackson remaining there...so he goes to the TRT. Thanks for the observation...I was incorrect to leave him on the board.

Did that clear-up your concern?

208 9/15/2018 12:57:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Sorry for the delay. In looking over your move: As much as I would like to keep you out of Marshall, TX, according to 7.33 B, I think the the Union AoT would occupy Marshall and Jackson would be put on the turn record track to re-enter next turn since there was not a fort in Marshall even though technically the defender won the battle.
Good play on your part to limit attrition. Your AoM at Lebanon had 2 more movement points but probably wanted to stay in Lebanon for attrition and interception possibilities for Bowling Green.
Let me know if you think this is right for Marshall.
207 9/14/2018 12:25:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Last part of campaign:
Pope in Cinncy moves with his 5SPs to Lexington (drops 1SP - n4), then ends in Somerset - n6.
206 9/13/2018 10:41:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message 2nd part of campaign:
AoMoLand (n10) leaves 2SPs in Bowling Green, moves to Lebanon, then to Somerset (converts & drops 2SPs - AoMoLand n6 & Somerset n2), then returns to Lebanon.

Any cards to stop this movement? If none, will do my last part of this major campaign.
205 9/13/2018 10:31:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Ole Brains cann't quite kick the Master, Jackson, from Marschall! Jackson fights with the last man to thwart his takening the city.

AoTenn looses 2SPs & retires back to Shreveport - n6
Jackson remains with his command staff in the city, doing the best he can to take care of wounded and bury the dead. He is alone in the town.

Message from Union:
Dan, you are getting this game down! Yes, better to die fighting and causing injury to the Yanks. If I win, Jackson most likely will go the TRT so you can place him back on the board where he will do good work elsewhere...we'll see how this turns out.

Battle for Marschall (med):
Yanks attacking with 8SPs, +1Gen, +3force...1st roll
Rebs defending with 2SPs, +3Gens...2nd roll
3rd roll for Jackson in case I roll a '6' for my attack...
203 9/13/2018 1:29:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Jackson has little chance of winning either way. If he stays and fights, he would need for Halleck to roll a 1 to survive I think (16%). If he withdraws, he would have to spend a card to counterattack and that would have only about a 25% chance of success since he may not have a LOC and Halleck would have +3 to Jackson's +3. If I am correct in this assumption of the rules, then Jackson will stay.
202 9/13/2018 3:46:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message Yanks suffer 1SP in the affair (n8) while the Rebs were destroyed...
Halleck feeling triumphant (& bombastic) decides to prosecute the war to Marschall...stand and fight or retire to Nacha?

Message from Confederate:
Wow! You really had a great hand this turn.
Of course, Jackson will try to intercept at Shreveport with the 2 SPs from Marshall and try to stop the yankee horde. He would need a 1-3 to intercept.
198 9/11/2018 11:57:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Event #83: 3 / Major Campaign
Conduct up to three moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Union:
Excellent move, Dan!

1st part of Major:
AoTenn (n9) moves from Little Rock to Camden, then to Shreveport...your options
197 9/11/2018 9:28:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #123: 1 / Quantrill’s Raiders
If played by the Confederate player place or flip 2 PC makers in a Missouri space (except St. Louis), which does not contain Union SPs or forts. If played by the Union player increase Union SW by 1 for increased resolve due to atrocities. Remove from deck if event is played.

Message from Confederate:
Sorry for the delay. I had 3 cards left and about 5 or 6 things that I wanted to do. I thought a lot about using this as an event but the fall of Missouri is inevitable I think at this point.
I'll use this to activate Jackson at Nacogdoches. He will leave 1 SP there and move 2 SPs to:
Marshall where he picks up 1 SP (n3) leaving 1 at Marshall
Shreveport where he drops 2 SPs
back to Marshall which now has 2 SPs and ends his move.
Final positions:
1 SP at Nacogdoches
2 SP at Marshall with Jackson
2 SP at Shreveport.

194 9/10/2018 3:15:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #17: 3 / CSA Purchasing Agent
Confederate immediately receives three SPs in any open Blockade Runner Port, no more than one SP per port, but more than one SP per Blockade Zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost.

Message from Confederate:
Use this as an event and bring in 3 SPs. One each at:
Sabine, TX (n1)
Mobile, Al (n1)
Norfolk, Va (n1)
193 9/10/2018 12:32:00 AM Summer 1862 Union Message Done! Over to you for your next card!
192 9/9/2018 8:25:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message I show only a confederate PC marker at Paducah. Smith will not try and intercept at this time.
191 9/9/2018 7:16:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #100: 3 / Shiloh
Confederate Player may move 5 SPs using Strategic Movement (rail connections only) to the same space with a Confederate General who is then activated and must attempt to enter a space with at least one or more Union SPs or fort. If a general casualty occurs in a battle caused by this card, the Commanding General is eligible, this is an exception to the rules. See 4.5.

Message from Union:
3SPs from Cairo naval assault Paducah...your options from Dover.
190 9/9/2018 6:03:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Set Deck Reshuffle Deck will be reshuffled before next deal
189 9/9/2018 6:03:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #82: 3 / Foreign Intervention - Reshuffle/Remove
Either player can play this card as an EC when Confederate SW is 110+. If this is the last card in a players hand or the second to last and the player holds the Emancipation Proclamation, if the condition is met, it must be played as an EC, if not it can be played as an OC. EFFECTS: 1. Union Blockade reduced by one (cannot become greater than 4 for the remainder of the game). 2. Union -2 SP Reinforcements for the remainder of the game (Union choice). 3. Union SW reduced by 10. Remove from deck if event is played. If card is played as an OC or discarded re-shuffle deck at end of the Strategy Phase.

Message from Confederate:
Use this to activate Lee and the AoT at Missionary Ridge. Movement:
1. Chattanooga
2. Steven
3. Decatur, Al pick up 1 SP (n4 in AoT)
4. Columbia
5. Franklin
6. Nashville pick up 4 SPs and Longstreet (n8 in AoT)
188 9/8/2018 8:49:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #8: 1 / 3 Cigars
Play this card to make an automatic one or two space interception. Intervening space must be friendly controlled and free of enemy SPs. The intervening space may be the one just exited by the moving enemy force. No Generals or SPs may be picked up or dropped off during intercept.

Message from Union:
Build a fort in Little Rock
187 9/8/2018 6:31:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Yes, realizing that I could not build a fort this turn is why I modified the move to put all 4 SPs at Vicksburg to cut down on the odds ratio.
186 9/8/2018 3:55:00 PM Summer 1862 Union Message Roger that, 4 now in Vicksburg.

Just in case you might be thinkin the same as me...
The fort destroyed at Little Rock in NOT available for use till the next season...it is currently on the TRT to come into play next season.

You ok for me to play my next card?
185 9/8/2018 2:48:00 PM Summer 1862 Confederate Message Let me modify that last move slightly. Van Dorn will pick up the 2 SPs in Jackson and move them to Vicksburg as he passes through ending with 4 SPs and Van Dorn in Vicksburg and no SPs in Jackson.
