238 8/19/2018 5:53:00 AM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Thanks. It is hard to defend DC in these situations. I think I would have kept AOP in place and tried to use the other 10 SPs around DC with Burnside and Pope to raid VA. Then Lee must go back to deal with this and it costs him SPs. But, if the US keeps losing reinforcements, things get harder each turn. I would have also brought the SPs back from Texas to help.

Let me know when you want another game.
237 8/18/2018 2:15:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message I think an opponent can expect me to do the best, and as we saw this way it got very close.

I`m glad you enjoyed the game, I really was concerned it became to easy or boring for you. After all I learned als I need to work on my Union strategy as well.

I think there were two crucial errors: the first one with the AoP inflicting a large battle instead of a medium and loosing 6 SP. The second was the final interception to Baltimire. With the Dorothea Dix card I would have suvived two attacks on a 3* CRT result. But I overlooked you were twice the strength to go for DC. The Naval move was the precinct for that.
What I`m curious about is, if I have not intercepted, would I have lost anyway? I got the feeling you would easiliy go for Raids in DE and NJ. What was your plan in that case?
Besides all those intersting thoughts, I enjoyed this games and the way of playing online which I certainly wil do more. Ilooked also fpr Empire of the sun match, where I hope to be more competetive. But For thr People is not another boardgame, I like this Civil War theme. (When playing soliataire FtP I let run Ken Burn`s Ciovil war at the second screen or civil war music, which I play with friends.) I wil lcertainly enjopy it quite more after this match! Thanks

Anyway, it was fun. Enjoy your time away and ping me when you return for another game if you wish. I'll post some comments on BGG, please respond!

233 8/17/2018 5:12:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message First thing, however, your move with Fremont can be done, but the way you did it is illegal. A general moving alone cannot move through an enemy PC space. But, he could move:

232 8/17/2018 5:08:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Oh, hold on, I did not see you changed your move to KY. With that, the game continues, I think.
231 8/17/2018 4:23:00 PM Spring 1862 Union Message The final score:
US SW: 55 + 10 KY - 10 MD & PA = 49
CS SW 93 + 10 = 103

Thanks for the game. It was very interesting. It changed my view about the attrition strategy and how to play the South. The loss of the 4 SP while being cutoff prevented any attempt attrit you. I usually parked 15 SP and 4-8 more behind to attrit the ANV. A strength the Army never reached. Without these losses, and drm the Army could gor for maximum 3 battles. I think, with an ANV of 12 you`re quite safe. (In my solitaire games the ANV were around 8 SP) Furthermore after you stood in Frederick the AoP wasn`t able to move a lot due to the interceptions.

In my solitaire game there is a 15 SP grant army traveling down the Mississippi, and stopping him would mean to use SPs which will allow to attrit Richmond.
Feel free to post at BGG.

When I come back, playing another game would be great.

Enjoy the weekend!
230 8/17/2018 4:02:00 PM Spring 1862 Confederate Message Yes, AoW just needs to convert Chambersburg, which the US cannot stop. So thank you for a good game!

Let me know if this game has changed your mind about the attrition strategy. I'm also happy to continue playing after you get back if you want to try different things. But you have already seen how the CSA deals with General Grant: it wins the game before he arrives! Of course, the CSA can win a long game, I have seen it done. But it is not easy. It is usually possible to still win the turn Grant arrives or maybe the turn after.

I will write up some thoughts about our game and post them to the BGG thread if that is OK with you.
