Greeks to decide battle, if any
I don't believe interception into Norba is possible, but perhaps there's a card in the Greek deck
330 4/6/2020 2:56:00 AM 361-348 BC Roman Message Dictator force places a Zero Siege marker and I yield over to Roderick/Gauls. sorry guys, been slacking a little on PBEM but let's ping each other if no move has happened after 2 days and another on 3rd day. it helps remind me.

Now AR 3 is up
329 4/5/2020 5:19:00 PM 361-348 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message Sounds good, thanks Jonathan. Let's aim for trying to complete an impulse every 3 days or so. Hope you're all doing as well as can be in these trying times!
328 4/5/2020 4:57:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message you are right, it's my fault. i'll move tonight. i get moving for awhile but then whenever there si a delay i fall into a rut myself. I'll do better. I've wrapped up some PBEM recently and won't be starting any new ones until I can get teh current list down further.
327 4/5/2020 4:26:00 PM 361-348 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message Guys, to me this game feels like a zombie that occasionally comes to life. At the rate we're going, we'll be done sometime in 2025. Either we speed up play a little bit or we call it quits.
326 3/31/2020 1:17:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Message Back to Rome at this point?

318 3/12/2020 5:12:00 AM 361-348 BC Gaul Message ok, after all that mess, I think I'll pass
317 3/12/2020 12:28:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Message Interesting.....I have never used the load continuation before. I didn't know about it. I have always loaded files individually.
316 3/12/2020 12:27:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Return Strategy card to hand #5: 1 / Hoplites

Message from Greek:
315 3/11/2020 3:20:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message That should be fine, this is why I do not use the continuation anymore. I had a long game or here I stand get ruined because continuations messed up multiple logs and we didn’t have acts record stuff as a reference but since then I always load logs one at a time
314 3/11/2020 2:54:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Return Strategy card to hand #19: 2 / Neutral Power Activates

Message from Gaul:
313 3/11/2020 2:53:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message ok, I see the problem and now I think I understand this cryptic message: "My apologies, but I didn't start the log file, and don't to replay it."

When I load your log as a continuation, what you type shows up, but there is no action on the board, so it still shows 10 CUs in Syracuse. But, if I load your log as a game (from an unopened game state), then your action logs clearly.

That said, had I known there were 14 CUs in Syracuse, I would not have had the Carthaginians attack at all. So, I will retract the Neutral Power Activates if that's ok with everyone. You can take your Hoplites back in hand as well.
312 3/11/2020 8:47:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Message Unless there are other cards, I can roll the combat outcomes.
311 3/8/2020 10:56:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Message Looking at the map, I have 14 CU in Syracusae.
310 3/8/2020 5:08:00 AM 361-348 BC Gaul Message I don't see how you're getting a force DRM. It's 10-10.
309 3/7/2020 9:32:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Message Hoplites adds a +2 to my roll. I also will get +1 for being in a friendly location and +1 for size differential, as best as I can figure.
308 3/7/2020 9:30:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Play Strategy card - Event #5: 1 / Hoplites

307 3/7/2020 3:35:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message well, I was waiting on the other players, too, but definitely waiting on you

I think you can play your card
306 3/7/2020 1:54:00 PM 361-348 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message No cards
305 3/7/2020 1:54:00 PM 361-348 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message No cards
304 3/7/2020 1:00:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Message If we are waiting for me, Everyone stays outside the city and participates in battle. No attempt to avoid. I'll play a combat card.

Are you waiting for other players to decide about adding combat cards?
303 3/1/2020 2:28:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message Yes, a Neutral Power Activates is a 3-op for the neutral if played as the event. It's a 2-op if played for ops. The card text is clearer:

"Play during your action phase, place marker. Activate Carthage or the Volsci with a 3-value action if they have not been activated this round."

This is how one can raise a troop for the neutral (as if a 3-op). So, other than getting the leaders mixed up, Hamilcar is attacking with 10 CUs
302 3/1/2020 11:17:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Message Do you mean you are attacking with Hamilcar? Timolean is Greek. Can you activate a 3 value leader (Hamilcar) with a 2 value neutral powers activates card?
301 3/1/2020 7:15:00 AM 361-348 BC Gaul Message attacking with 10 CUs in case it wasn't obvious
300 3/1/2020 7:15:00 AM 361-348 BC Gaul Play Strategy card - Event #19: 2 / Neutral Power Activates

Message from Gaul:
as event
activate Timoleon again

attack Syracuse
no cards

anyone else?
299 2/27/2020 10:21:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message turn over. Gauls/Rod are up with their AR2 start. all NP's are available to be activated again.
298 2/27/2020 10:15:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Play Strategy card - Event #33: 3 / Dark Days of the Republic

Message from Roman:
Dark days are indeed here. Time for Rome to secure her future.

Placing him in Roma with 2 CU.
297 2/27/2020 10:13:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message Greeks/Eric, your move was still in AR 1, i changed the log name. my action wraps up AR1 and then to Gauls/Rod to kick off AR 2.
296 2/27/2020 10:10:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message moving now. sorry, convention followed by our new home coming along much faster than expected which led to us having to scramble to get our house picture and buyer tour ready in a short time span. been so tiring and no energy for games at night.
295 2/26/2020 3:03:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message Yes, hey Jonathan, that's a real long convention there :-)
294 2/22/2020 11:12:00 AM 361-348 BC Greek Message Rome is still up?
293 2/6/2020 2:22:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message I see I’m up. will try to make a move in next 24-48 hours. I'm at a convention with a rare few days to do live war games!
292 2/2/2020 11:44:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message I confirm that there is no need for a naval roll as there is no Rome-Carthage alliance, and the destination port isn't Carthaginian
291 2/1/2020 3:26:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Message My file is up. Rome is next. I am fairly sure I don't have to roll on the naval combat table for my move since I didn't use a Carthaginian port.
290 2/1/2020 3:16:00 PM 361-348 BC Greek Play Strategy card - Event #27: 3 / Campaign

Message from Greek:
Using this to move Dionysius to Naples and then use naval movement for ML A to sail to Syracuse.
289 1/29/2020 10:13:00 PM 361-348 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message Pass. Greeks next up.
288 1/28/2020 3:55:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Play Strategy card - Event #23: 2 / Neutral Power Activates

Message from Gaul:

Etruscan/Samnites up
287 1/28/2020 3:54:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Play Strategy card - Operations #15: 2 / Flight Before the Barbarians

Message from Gaul:
as ops
activate the Praeneste stack

move all to Asculum
286 1/28/2020 3:51:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message I see the problem.

If I load your file as a continuation from my open board, then after stepping through, it does not show Roman reinforcements (and Camillus is still on the board).

But, if I load your file as a (previously unopened) game, then Maximus shows up properly, and there are 10 CUs in Rome.

So, just a head's up to the other players. If the game is already open, close it and load Roman log 57 using "Load Game" instead of "Load Continuation".
285 1/28/2020 2:48:00 PM 361-348 BC Roman Message go through to the end and you will see i accidentally mad emistake of adding my reinforcements on vassal while yoru log was still in play through. so what happened was i just left it as is since i had put all my actiosn down in ACTS and the change can be verified by viewing my troop change from the previous logs.
284 1/28/2020 1:35:00 PM 361-348 BC Gaul Message my Roman log file is showing my (Gallic) reinforcements again, not the Roman setup

anyone else seeing this?

Rome up and then we can finally start Turn 3
270 1/21/2020 9:53:00 AM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message No changes here either.
269 1/21/2020 8:53:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message Sorry about that. Read "place" overly broadly to mean move. Next person to submit a log, please swap Dionysius and Minor Leader A. Does not affect my placement choice for reinforcements.
268 1/20/2020 8:49:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message time out

Eric, you may not reposition Dionysius. The leader reassignment during reinforcements only applies to minor leaders, similar to how you can shuffle your minor leaders during an action round.

I will wait in case Dionysius remaining in Thurii affects your overall reinforcements. Dan, of course, will also be free to modify his reinforcements if the Greek reinforcements change.
267 1/20/2020 12:59:00 PM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message Going in reverse VP order, E/S are up for reinforcements:
3 CUs in Pisae with ML-B [now 9 CUs]
2 CUs in Fragellae with ML-A [now 11 CUs]
Gauls next for reinforcements.
266 1/19/2020 4:16:00 PM 373-362 BC Greek Message Greek reinforcements are complete. Penalty paid. Log file up. Romans up.
265 1/19/2020 1:28:00 AM 373-362 BC Roman Message log done, Greeks/Eric Charles are up to place their reinforcements and pay their loyalty penalty.
264 1/19/2020 1:24:00 AM 373-362 BC Roman Message Rome has returned, by the power vested in me by my lowly estate and standing in the VP track I hereby proclaim the NP Powers Reinf:

+1 for Trans-Gauls, N6 in holding box.
+3 Carthage in Agrigentum, N9 and correcting the ML-B that is a 2/1 (5 player version) into the ML-A (3/1 rated).
263 1/17/2020 9:49:00 PM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Discard Strategy card #6: 1 / Bruttian Raiders

Message from Etruscan-Samnite:
Will discard this card while I'm thinking about it... Rome is still up.
262 1/16/2020 4:47:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Rome for Carthaginian (and Transalpine Gaul) reinforcements only, not Roman

then Greeks for regular reinforcements
261 1/16/2020 8:56:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message Rome for reinforcements, correct?
260 1/8/2020 4:39:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Message You also have one Greeks that lets you find and play Magna Grecia which gives you one free turn of no loyalty upkeep. Or use both for generic three ops
259 1/8/2020 3:40:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Gauls will continue Samnite alliance

over to Rome to assign Carthaginian reinforcements, then Greeks for regular reinforcements

Message from Gaul:
I believe the only attrition is for Carthage in Agrigentum
255 1/8/2020 3:28:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Greeks could use Desperate Times as 3-ops to raise loyalty if needed to keep leaders.
254 1/8/2020 5:48:00 AM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message No DT for E/S
253 1/7/2020 10:14:00 PM 373-362 BC Greek Message Greeks do not play one either.

Am I correct that the Greek player might use a desperate times card to avoid having too few loyalty points to pay for Greek leaders?
252 1/7/2020 6:53:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Gauls are not feeling very desperate.

Greeks?
251 1/7/2020 6:13:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Message I decline. Rod and the Gauls up to decide next on Desperate Times.
250 1/3/2020 2:48:00 AM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Rome: Ping!

Message from Gaul:
as ops
Gaul control in Praeneste

Romans first to decide on Desperate Times
248 12/23/2019 7:14:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Message Sorry, that's another game. Over to Rod/Gauls to finish AR 5.
247 12/23/2019 7:13:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Play Strategy card - Operations #2: 1 / Etruscan Indifference

Message from Roman:
Ok, raising Antium's loyalty by 1. Over to Ken and the Gauls to finish the AR and then on to one last chance for Desperate Times in descending VP order.
246 12/23/2019 7:11:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Message and Carthage can't intercept becuase you already had un-besieged troops there at Syracuse.
245 12/23/2019 7:10:00 PM 373-362 BC Roman Message you don't have to roll for naval attrition/return since it's port to port that you control and Roman alliance with Carthage has not happened.

we are in AR5 now so Cartahge is open to be activated again. updating Vassal log at start of my move.
244 12/21/2019 9:56:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message Not sure if Carthage can intercept now that it is activated when I arrive in a space adjacent. But I think my move is complete and Rome is up.
243 12/21/2019 9:50:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Play Strategy card - Operations #36: 3 / Siege Towers

Message from Greek:
I will play this to make a naval move. Taking Timoleon and 4 CU from Tarentum to Syracuse.
242 12/14/2019 11:28:00 PM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Message Greeks up next.
241 12/11/2019 11:51:00 PM 373-362 BC Etruscan-Samnite Play Strategy card - Operations #3: 1 / Treason of Marcus Manlius

Message from Etruscan-Samnite:
Flip Fragellae
240 12/11/2019 3:39:00 PM 373-362 BC Gaul Message Hamilcar will stop in Agrigentum
end of turn

Etruscans / Samnites up next
239 12/11/2019 11:35:00 AM 373-362 BC Roman Message you are correct about being able to withdraw up to 3 CU behind the walls if you fail an interception (same with failed avoidance).

we can put the marker next to Rome, i have no problme with that, if we can clone it, I would like to keep a copy of the marker on the track too.

Since you are withdrawing inside the city with nobody left to fight outside, the Gauls could have Carthage keep moving (no fight/not forced to stop) but I'm guessing they want ot stop and lay siege...back to Gauls to continue.
238 12/11/2019 11:08:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message Should the Appian Way marker go on the game board near Rome where there is a space for it? Easier to remind us of the effect.
237 12/11/2019 11:06:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message Intercept unsuccessful. If Hamilcar moves on to Syracuse, we'll go into the walled city.
236 12/11/2019 11:05:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Die roll request Request: 6-sided die x 1

Message from Greek:
Intercept success on a 1.
235 12/11/2019 9:24:00 AM 373-362 BC Greek Message I will attempt to intercept assuming that, if my interception fails, and Hamilcar continues on to Syracuse, I can move my 3 CU and minor leader into the walled city. Rules say I cannot attempt to avoid battle on the same turn as I attempt to intercept, but declaring that my units are in the walled city isn't the same as an avoid battle attempt. Is this correct?
