474 2/11/2019 11:24:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Yeah, it is interesting that my moment of glory :-) in crushing the AOP also led me to move Longstreet who was guarding that path to Atlanta.

This was a great learning game for me (I have only played a handful) as I have never experienced the SW crunch before. The blockade was indeed deadly and your defense of D.C. led me not to try anything there. I also feel my need to go down to Texas a couple of times to save it (by not guarding it better in the first place I think) hurt my cause and prevented me from other endeavors.

Thanks for the game and for being patient with my lack of expertise with the rules at times. I hope to see you again some time in this game or perhaps another like EotS once I get the confidence to try the PBEM tournament (maybe next time). Best of luck with the rest of your games and congrats on a well played game!
473 2/11/2019 11:06:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message It was desperation time for sure. The blockade was the sledgehammer that drove down your SW. I was planning on pounding at Richmond with Sherman's army when 1864 got here, but then noticed that Grant had an open road to Atlanta. I believe that Sherman would eventually get into Richmond, but the cost would be severe.
472 2/11/2019 10:57:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Yeah, that's right. I put it at 11 to be able to get a large battle as that was a way to perhaps increase SW - not that it would be enough.
471 2/11/2019 10:51:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Indeed, your SR indicates that the AoT has 11SP. That would indeed make it a large battle, so your SW is 0 and the game is over.

Will wait for your confirmation.
470 2/11/2019 10:47:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Think I had 11 but I did notice the chart said 9 and had corrected it on my last turn - should have mentioned that. Let me double check
469 2/11/2019 10:44:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Both armies are 9SP on the board, so a medium battle.

Or did I miss something?
468 2/11/2019 10:32:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Well, not a good result for Lee.

I think that puts me at SW = 0 and ends the game.

I hoped to get some cards to up my SW or perhaps a miracle run to the North to raid. No such cards and not even a 3 OP to build a fort to even make the Northern raid a possibility.

466 2/11/2019 10:26:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message Grant will fight where he stands. If defeated he will fall back to Savannah. Go ahead and roll it.

Yes, unless you have some sort of miracle hand it will be difficult to survive the turn. Even if you did, the SW loss for the blockade runners next turn should end it.

But...that fat lady isn't singing yet.

you have options so will pause - risky as I think a loss in a large battle to end the game but not even a puncher's chance left at this point anyway.

458 2/10/2019 6:42:00 PM Summer 1864 Union Message The short answer is yes, Sheridan is a cavalry general.

The status of Sheridan is a bit of a mystery to me. The rules state that he is a cavalry leader, but he can be a corps leader with a P1 rating. Then it says that the USA may use him to create a cavalry brigade of up to 2SP, but he can no longer be an infantry general...or something to that effect.

I always treat him as a cavalry general.
457 2/10/2019 6:39:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Oh, and not campaigning - Union first
456 2/10/2019 6:34:00 PM Summer 1864 Confederate Message Is Sheridan cavalry by the way? I think so but unclear with the counter.

400 2/4/2019 8:37:00 PM Fall 1863 Confederate Play Strategy card as Event #83: 3 / Major Campaign
Conduct up to three moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Confederate:
Lots of campaign cards but offensive options limited due to needing to save TX and KY and river/fort situation made it tough to get into KY. I even thought about using a minor to build a fort to get into it but with Jackson down south, didn't think I could save it anyway. Now I'll have to make a play in the East given the AOP's encroachment nearly to Richmond!

1st Activation:

Activate Smith - leaves the ANV with 1 SP (ANV n3)

MP 1-7: To the Wilderness

You have a intercept option so I'll pause

399 2/4/2019 10:58:00 AM Fall 1863 Confederate Message Sorry, make that Richmond and glad I barely made it!
