254 1/4/2019 9:22:00 AM Sep-Dec 1942 Allies Message Thanks for the advise. I also think I made some big mistakes in the CBI early on which cost me all my air support, the Warspite and use of the Chinese units. Should have tried to slow you down more than I did. Yes I was eyeing some of the other undefended PoW spots after the attack on Kavieng but when that invasion failed it was pretty much up to Dacca which was a long shot at best, even with an ambush card I had for a counterattack.

Thanks for the game offer, but I think I'm going to set it up again and play around with the latest version of the solo bot. I know it isn't quite the same but I've wanted to try it out and now I have a better grasp on the rules.

Good luck going forward, will be interested to watch your progress. Hopefully I can get a little further along in the next game with another second stringer ; )
253 1/4/2019 8:54:00 AM Sep-Dec 1942 Japanese Message I do understand. We can call this game done. Without Kavieng and/or Dacca things were looking grim. Even an attack on Attu with ASP was questionable without Naval support... I could have easily sent up a carrier from Saipan and there wouldn't have even been a ground battle.

You played well, but I think you were hurt early on by very good JP cards for me with only so-so for you. Not that you needed awesome cards, but there were a few key rolls that went my way too. Allies are very hard early on and luck was on my side.

I think for this turn, loading up Biak instead of Gili Gili and Guadalcanal with your ships and ASP forces. It may have opened up more opportunities for strikes (Jolo, Kendari, and Kusaie until just this AR). And those 3NZ guys are only one ASP to move... For Turn 4, I also would have recommended not attacking targets directly that have defenses, but attacking exposed airfields and ports. This forces me to make an SR roll and also make an Intel check. Greater chance of success.. still risky though. But still the lack of ASP to do this hurts and I was trying to reduce those exposed targets.

If you are interested, I'm happy to play another match. You can pick sides. If not, no problem. Feel free to reach out to me any time for a future game. Good luck with the rest of the tournament!
252 1/4/2019 8:29:00 AM Sep-Dec 1942 Allies Message On second thought, I don't think there is much point in me continuing. The only way I could make it into next turn is if I could somehow take back Attu, which I would try from Oahu, but not enough ASPs since I would also need a Marine and not enough ASPs to make PoW anywhere. The attack on Dacca was my best shot. But that is fine, basically what I assumed would happen with my bid. But good to get some experience with the game again and brush up on rules. So congratulations.

183 12/29/2018 9:07:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Play Future Offensive card as Event #1: 1 / Bataan Death March: Atrocity
Increase US Political Will by one if the Japanese control Manila (2813). Remove from play if used as an event.

OC: 1 EC: 0

Message from Allies:
Will play this from the Future Offensive as an event. I'll play my last card in a little bit.

Now that you mentioned it I went into Dropbox and I dont see any of your files other than the most recent file you posted. Yes I am on a Mac & I dont have too many ideas about how to adjust Dropbox but I'll see if I can upload the most recent EotS file & VASSAL file & see if that helps. Did take the slash out of my file name.

181 12/29/2018 5:35:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Play Strategy card as Event #43: 1 / Tojo Resigns: Moderates in Power
If the game turn is 1944 or later, this card must be played as an event otherwise it is a Japanese option to play as an event, an OC, or discard. Reduce US Political Will by two. The Allied Manchurian Invasion card's prerequisite has been met. Flip the game turn marker from its PM Tojo to its Tojo Resigns side as a reminder. RESHUFFLE: If this card is played as an OC or a discard, reshuffle the Japanese deck at the end of this game turn. This card may not be played as a Future Offensive. Remove from play if used as an event.

OC: 3 EC: 0

Message from Japanese:
Not sure. If you are using a Mac, remove the "/" character from the file name. It's still odd though that I don't see the files in Dropbox website either. I suspect it is something with your Dropbox sync... I'd check that. It's been going on for awhile, but like I said, the orders have been clear enough for me to follow and I had not seen any issues, so I've just been plugging in your orders into the game and saving them... I'm ok with this... sharing a file is a bonus...

Playing for event.

180 12/29/2018 2:51:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message Sorry about that, I marked my VASSAL file for the 7th LRB incorrectly and then carried the error over to my ACTs orders. 7th LRB should be based at Espiritu Santo. Not sure why you are not seeing my VASSAL files though. My Dropbox is showing them. The current one should be named "EotS-12-Turn3-AR5-US/Allied.vsav" Are you not seeing that file? I usually create my file by opening your last one then making my move and saving under the different name so it shouldn't stray too far from what you have last posted. Anyway, if you are not seeing my file let me know & I'll try to figure out what is going on. Perhaps my EotS program is out of date?

PBM is as follows

1MAW remains at Bouganville
Mississippi to Bouganville
(Enterprise) & Lexington to Guadalcanal
5th LRB remains at Gili Gili
7th LRB to Espiritu Santo
179 12/29/2018 12:22:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message That's enough to kill both of my units.

No damage to you.

You're up for PBM.

On a side note, I am not receiving your Vassal files in Dropbox. No biggy, your orders are detailed enough, but you did have one error.

The 7AF LRB PBM'd to Espirito Santo in Journal Entry 160. So, it was not in Efate for this order... no matter, the LRB has sufficient range for the order... but you may want to check on Dropbox for your future uploads. I'm concerned that our game may get our of sync otherwise... but this could have just been a typo too.

171 12/27/2018 2:01:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Hey Tom, hope you had a great Christmas. No rush, but just a friendly reminder regarding your turn.
170 12/25/2018 9:08:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Sigh... ignore this... it is for another game...

169 12/25/2018 9:08:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message So, unfortunately it was inconclusive looking at his cards to determine which was the card he drew. I am going to test this in a game, but not sure how well it will work... I'll give it a try though.

But obviously, he has two cards, one in FO and one in hand. One of the two are new... but I cannot determine which.

I see two options for David (sorry Joshua).

1) accept the card in FO as valid and Joshua can discard the card in his hand and undo the Skip Bombing card play (and offer the option to undo the FO play).

Or

2) force a random discard. Undo the FO play and discard at random (there is an option in the ACTS module to do this) and then reverse the play of Skip Bombing.

Don't take action immediately. I am going to test this in a test game... maybe it will make more sense to me there.

167 12/23/2018 6:09:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message Hi Chris: Have now been swept up into the holiday black hole. I'll get in my move when I'm back after Christmas. Hope you have a happy holiday!
166 12/22/2018 12:12:00 AM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message We're good. I caught it before card play for Turn 3. My attack and your defense on Manila was correct.
165 12/21/2018 9:49:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Allies Message Ok, forgot abot attrition at the end of turn 2 but interesting that those spaces remain in Philippine control. If you want to unflip the ground unit on Manila that would have effected the battle there it is fine with me. I'm pretty beat and going to bed and will be gone most of the day tomorrow but will try to get in a play by tomorrow night.
164 12/21/2018 9:32:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Not sure when it happened, but the JP Resources were at 14... they should only be at 13. I have not captured Vogelkop... I considered it, hence why I noticed.

162 12/21/2018 9:11:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Could have been more clear... P BDE was a single step unit, hence it was eliminated.
161 12/21/2018 9:10:00 PM May-Aug 1942 Japanese Message Log Entry # 96: Side Note, during Attrition, I forgot to flip your R Corps in Manila. Additionally, because you didn't have any HQ coverage over the Philippines, SL Corps and P Bde are eliminated.

Per 6.24,

1) Eliminate all reduced or single step air or ground units that are unsupplied, are not in a hex affected by an Emergency Supply Route (6.23), and are out of range of any friendly supplied or unsupplied HQ. For this check, enemy units, opposing ZOI, and unplayable hexsides do not block the path between the HQ and the unit.

At the time, you had pulled SW Pac to the turn track. Additionally, the C Pac HQ does not reach that far. There were no HQ's that covered those spaces.

SL Corps was already reduced and P Bde was eliminated.

That being said, you are correct that I do not own Leyte, but will at the end of this turn if you don't retake Manila or Davao. That was my mistake to occupy it.

I'll PBM the Zuiho in Palau Is.

You've got 32 to play with. Let me know what you hit and then I'll do my PBM.
