541 2/25/2019 10:59:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Message Here is my view on your play.

1- Confederates win 95% of their wins in this game in the first half of the game by aggression. So pure Confederate defence ıs a very suboptimal play IMHO.

2-The Confederate aggression should not be simply raiding states. It must target to be sustainable. i.e. you must stay there to consolidate your grip. This is usually done by cutting off Yankee rails. Think of it as King Cobra bite poisoning anaconda... If you can escape its squeeze long enough, your poison will first tire it then eventually kill it. If you don't poison the Anaconda, its enormous strength will overwhelm you in the long run.

3-You must be careful with your attrition. Every sp counts for the Confederates in the long game.

4-In the long game, you must threaten non-election of Lincoln. This requires you to keep Northern SW in dangerous waters. The best way to do that is aggression (and not defence) again. Actually the moment AOW turned North past AOC you became a serious threat. If I let you go... there was a possibility (with some luck on your side) that you take DC. ...and win the game.

5- If you do neither, then as a confederate, you must be extremely lucky to pull a late game win. ... and you were not lucky. In fact, I received grossly powerful cards such as discarder, campaigns, reinforcements ... and even Empty Haversacks... You must have observed how a normally below average card such as this became lethal in the right circumstances...

Briefly, I believe you have all the potential to be a good player in this game. I witnessed it not only in this game but also in the Washingtons War game when you beat me. You must redesign your objectives in your head and get this new design be practised. I am certain next time we'll meet, you will be a fearsome opponent.

Till then... I salute you!
540 2/25/2019 10:37:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message No not possible. I think I decided that I should never play this game again. Just can't seem to figure out what to do. Every Union player runs rings around me. Putting good leaders in army does not seem to matter.
539 2/25/2019 10:35:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #86: 3 / Minor Campaign
Conduct up to two moves or conduct one special army-size naval move. No SP, general, or army marker may be moved twice with the same campaign card. You must move a different force each move.

Message from Union:

538 2/25/2019 10:34:00 AM Fall 1864 Confederate Message Yes all empty, so I guess that is -16 SW to 0.

536 2/25/2019 10:18:00 AM Fall 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Event #1: 1 / Empty Haversacks
Can be played as an Interrupt card to cancel the activation of any Confederate force, OR during a Union player's turn to cause a Confederate force to immediately execute an attrition procedure. In addition, conduct Forage if force has no LOC.

Message from Union:
Cancel that move!

514 2/23/2019 11:44:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message No I don't have a campaign... ...but if you left AOW where you left, a simple corps move would have been sufficient to complete the invasion of North Carolina... and cut the LOC of AOW causing 2 attrition ... and unless you'd use a campaign at the beginning of next turn, in the first Union move, AOW would have been destroyed thus sealing the fate of the game.

Branchville is the right move. There you can hope to defend South Carolina and delay the entry to Georgia. not easy, but will keep you in the game.

P.S: I will make a general commentary on your play when the game ends.
513 2/23/2019 7:02:00 AM Summer 1864 Confederate Message I am not sure how to answer you. Obviously I don't play this game enough as I can't seem to find a way to stop anything you do. Same thing happened in my other confederate game, although Dave Rubin did have a turn with 3 campaigns in it and that really caused a problem. I lost in the Fall of 64. I made 2 invasions of the north in that game. Still did not help.

My friends tell me you can't defend, yet I could not seem to figure out how to advance in the north. I already lost Florida and North Carollina. I though I had a decent coastal defense, and Taking for Picking back on turn 2 or 3 really was a surprise. If your telling me you have a campaign and lee's army is gone also then I don't really know what to do.

If I retreat to SC it problem saves lee's army. I can't conceive how I am going to survive to the Spring of 65 again.

so I will play chicken and retreat lee to Branchville SC instead. Round is Camden Columbia Branchville
512 2/23/2019 2:28:00 AM Summer 1864 Union Message Hi Bill,

P.S: You are putting up a valiant fight. Players playing pure defensive CSA are rare. If you want to revise your move, please do.

451 2/17/2019 10:45:00 AM Spring 1864 Union Play Strategy card as Operations #51: 1 / Confederate Torpedoes
Confederate receives three torpedo counters. Must be placed in a friendly controlled port, and no more than one per space. Torpedoes provide a -1 DRM against Running the Guns and a +1 DRM against amphibious assaults.

446 2/17/2019 7:22:00 AM Spring 1864 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #16: 2 / Grierson's Raid
Union may place two Union PC markers in any spaces within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single Union cavalry brigade. The four space range cannot be traced through Northeast Alabama and may not contain a Confederate SP or Fort, but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes.
