Thank you gents I will set up R2 opponents ASAP
376 3/7/2019 12:43:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message OK thanks Trevor.

I learned a lot in playing this one too.

Good luck. Sure would be nice if you won the tournament!

That way I can say I was beat by the best!

So long

375 3/7/2019 12:40:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Well it would have ended anyway with that roll!

The end of game points are as follows:

FR: +3 keys +4 pact allies = +7

Every other Coalition nation is negative, so I guess that is a wrap

I really enjoyed playing this game with you Gilbert. In explaining the rules I learned it much better myself!

I will report our results to the GM.

Trevor

Message from France:
France will spend a card for a +1. This is combined with the Tallyrand event played earlier provides a net +2, so the game will conclude on a 4 or higher.
373 3/7/2019 6:05:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message Russian will not spend a card to influence the roll. Go ahead.

372 3/6/2019 11:54:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message OK, Peace Die Roll is next. Britain is at the minimum hand size, and so can't spend a card to influence the die roll, neither can Austria as a Subject Neutral (5.8), but Russia could. Is she interested?

Once you decide, then France decides.
371 3/6/2019 8:51:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Correct, now for the second half of 15.2, TU will give control of Venice over to FR.

Key count after all of this:

FR 16
TU 6
AU 8

15.21: Yusef and his 2 SP are now required to withdraw from the Capital and I will place them in Moravia. No other forces will chose to relocate voluntarily.

15.22: if I understand this correctly, all RU forces in AU must now go to the regroup box. In addition, Charles and his entire stack must also regroup to the box since that space is now Turkish territory.

15.23. AU is now a Subject Neutral of the Imperial camp and is now in a one turn Grace Period (15.24)

I will pause there to see if you can confirm all of the above.

370 3/6/2019 7:43:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message OK, I just want to make sure I'm understanding procedure 15.2 correctly.

We place a Turkish flag on Venice (even though there are french troops there).

I choose Dalmatia, so we put another Turkish flag there and that part of the procedure is done. Correct?

369 3/5/2019 11:28:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message In alternating order, we each decide what Dutchy to take / give. TU will chose Venice first. Over to AU to decide the second Dutchy to cede.

Austria is conquered by Turkey.

Follow the 15.2 steps to resolve.

All Imperial Flags are removed from AU duchies.

Message from France:
No Attrition that I see.

Flip naval build markers to their refit side

15.1 Conquest die roll for Austria: -1 national modifier +5 for lost keys = +4. AU will surrender on anything but a 1.
366 3/5/2019 10:20:00 PM 1807-1808 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #904: 5 / Napoleon
If Napoleon is present, you may commit the Imperial Guard after seeing all other battle dice. Roll four more battle dice. Besides inflicting hits, rally a disrupted French Unit for each "4" rolled by the extra dice. Only Napoleon's presence at some point during the battle is required, not his well-being. RESERVE

Message from France:
Reminder that per 7.41.2, only an Army may flag an adjacent space. So the BR Formation in Chacudice may not flag Macedonia. I can't see any other good use for that last CP except move the Swedish Consul up to Aide +1 on the Diplomatic track for BR. Shall we do that instead?

Use France's last card to build a Squadron in Brest and then flag Venice. FR+1 key to 16, AU down 1 key to 4.

We can move on to Attrition and the rest of the Interphase if you are ready.
365 3/5/2019 9:38:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Operations #98: 5 / War Without End
Gain CPs equal to a die roll. Void Armistice event if in play AND subtract 1 from this Turn's Peace die roll. All nations draw one card in Order of Movement.

Message from Britain:
Playing for the CP of 5.

Build a Squadron at Cornwall, with Naval Build marker

1 CP left, place a flag in Macedonia

British turn over
364 3/4/2019 11:00:00 PM 1807-1808 France Spain: Play Strategy card as Event #57: 3 / Up from the Ranks
Place any out-of-play but available leader (except Poniatowski or Bernadotte) in his friendly Home or Associate Duchy. If played by a Neutral Proxy, the leader must be placed in the Neutral's capital. If no leader is available, the Neutral has 3 CPs instead.

Message from France:
Spain played it's home card last time, which allowed it to draw 2 cards, keep 1 and play the other. That is how it received an extra card.

Use this event to place Leader Blake in Madrid.

Over to France, which will hold it's 5 CP Napoleon Imperial Guard reserve card and not play it.

Over to Britain for it's last card, and likely the end of the turn.
363 3/4/2019 11:30:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message On acts it shows that Spain has one more card. But it is not in my inventory. Not sure what happened there.

Anyway, go on to the next phase.

Message from France:
Per our email discussion, here is the roll for the "guns of Gibraltar" for the running BR Squadron headed towards the Aegean.

If no sixes are rolled then the move as recorded stands.

Either way you can decide whether or not you want to play another card as a + for Britain or move on to Spain.
361 3/2/2019 6:24:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Two quick observations on your move.

Per 13.8, a BR fleet sailing through a FR Gibraltar would be subject to Battery fire (4 dice). Not sure if you want to risk this or not.

Also, per 7.41.2, only an Army may flag a space during the turn, so the BR SPs that landed in the Aegean cannot flag that space until after the Attrition portion of the Interphase.

I am inclined to continue the game at least until we draw cards for 1809 and see what that looks like. I am learning from our game as well, since our styles of play are so much different than the traditional approach.

I have learned that playing on VASSAL is not compatible for successful play for me, so always prefer old school maps and typing moves!
360 3/2/2019 4:33:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message THOUGHTS ON THE GAME

I'm still enjoying playing the game but I'm wondering if it isn't a 'run away' game for the French here.

Actually, I didn't mention it to you but when I joined the tournament I actually thought I would be in a multi-player game like they run at WBC. I was quite surprised that the online game is only 2 player with multiple sides.

As I'm rather new to this system I didn't mind taking a single power and learning some stuff. I'm learning in this game for sure but I'm wondering if it is much of a game for you.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I should not concede the game to you because I don't think there is much that I'm going to be able to do. I think Vassal was not the best methodology to learn such a complex game.

There are too many things that I'm missing in a 2 dimensional computer screen environment.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

359 3/2/2019 4:29:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message British force of 3 SP lands and then flags the space.

Port naval fire from Chalcidice.

357 3/2/2019 4:28:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Actually, make that 3 British SP in the move, not 2.

356 3/2/2019 4:27:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Britain: Play Strategy card as Operations #903: 6 / Admiralty
Britain draws two cards if its Fleets control six Zones at the start of its Impulse. Voided by Bey of Algiers or if Britain is a Subject Neutral. RESERVE

Message from Britain:
Britain has to play this one for operations.

1 Fleet from the South Atlantic moves to the Aegean Sea (4 maneuvers at 2 CP cost)

Convoy 2 British SP from Benevento to the Chalcidice in the Aegean (3 CP)

1 CP left. The port will get naval fire which I will resolve now.

355 3/2/2019 4:18:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message The survivor will be Kutusov and he will retreat to Linz. Joining the 7 Austrian SP there.

354 3/2/2019 3:33:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message OK, no Resource gained in the Route. FR lose 2 SP and stop in Munich with 12 remaking.

Over to you for any post battle reaction cards, and then to declare your solitaire survivor and and where he retreats too.

Then over to Great Britain for their turn.

Message from France:
Total loses are 11 to 3, which result in a Route of the Coalition army and all disrupts become kills. This means that every piece is eliminated except for one leader, which I presume you would want Kutozov, but maybe you would want Frediand so he could retreat to Linz and command the AU SPs there?

This role is to see if FR gets a Resource...need a 3 or less.

349 3/2/2019 3:12:00 PM 1807-1808 France France: Play Strategy card as Event #45: 4 / Dysentery
All Forces of one side in a battle space suffer Attrition before a declared battle. Any losses inflicted count as battle losses in the upcoming battle.

Message from France:
Dysentery played on the combined RU & AU army. 12 attrition dice next.
348 3/2/2019 3:10:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Yes, there were 11 SP in Wurtemburg, but Napoleon brought 4 with him from Venice, then picked up 10 more in Wurtemburg (plus Lannes), leaving 1 of the original 11 behind with Davout.

I also miscounted the FR dice. Should be 21 not 20, because the leader Lannes counts as 1

Battle card to follow.
347 3/2/2019 2:02:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Golly, I despair that I will ever learn this game playing vassal. I never seem to have the same number of men on board as stated.

I make out 11 French SP and the leaders.

Anyway, I will fight the battle. Go ahead and resolve.

346 3/2/2019 1:38:00 PM 1807-1808 France France: Play Strategy card as Operations #18: 5 / Continental System Fails
Preemptions are not allowed while the Coalition controls 7 Zones. Discard when the Coalition fails to control 7 Zones at the end of any Impule. If played by a Neutral when the Coalition does not control 7 Zones, the event is unplayable and the card is used as 5 CPs.

Message from France:
Use for CP:

Napoleon takes 4 SP (4 remain in uncontrolled Venice) and marches as follows:

1) Milan

2) Zurich

3) Wurtemburg

4-5) picks up 4 more SP plus Lannes and 6 SP ( Davout and 1 SP remain behind) and attack Kutazov in Munich.

The battle would be 20 FR to 15 RU & AU, but you have evasion options and we both could still play cards after that.
345 3/2/2019 1:29:00 PM 1807-1808 France Denmark: Play Strategy card as Operations #908: 4 / Gallant Danes
Danish Fleets have an intercept/evade level of 8, throw three Battle dice per Squadron, and may void one "6" in battle during this Impulse. The Danes may use four Maneuvers this Impulse even if Inactive. OR Draw a card. RESERVE

Message from France:
Place a DN Squadron under a build marker in Coppenhagen.
344 3/2/2019 1:27:00 PM 1807-1808 France Spain: Play Strategy card as Operations #7: 4 / Minor Forces
Place two Units of an Associate Duchy in that Duchy. They attack any non-friendly Formations present without evasion and before any interception is attempted.

341 3/2/2019 1:16:00 PM 1807-1808 France Spain: Play Strategy card as Event #910: 5 / Peninusula Campaign
Roll a die. If your roll greater than the number of Enemy Forces in Spain, Lisbon, Oporto, and Gibraltar, draw two cards. You must play one of them. Otherwise, draw a card which you may play or keep. Not playable in 1805. RESERVE

Message from France:
Event has automatic success since there are no enemy forces in the Peninsula, so SP will draw two cards and play 1.
340 3/2/2019 1:13:00 PM 1807-1808 France Prussia: Play Strategy card as Event #906: 6 / Raise the Landwehr
Place three Units and a Leader in any Friendly Prussian Home Duchy. The event (only) cannot be used on Turn 1: the 6 CPs and the "+" capability are usable on Turn 1. RESERVE

Message from France:
Use event to place Yorck and 3 SP in Kionigsburg (now 4).

Turkey has no cards so over to Spain next.
339 3/2/2019 1:10:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Congrats on the Naval Victory!

The Surviving French Fleet will return to Gibraltar since it is a two ocean port.

The nationality modifiers do not apply to naval battles; that aspect is already reflected in the gunnery dice totals.
338 3/2/2019 12:08:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Austria, Russian no cards. Over to Prussia.

337 3/2/2019 12:06:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Last 2 CP, build a British SP at Benevento. (now 3)

336 3/2/2019 12:04:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message I will assume that you kill 1 Spanish and 2 French fleets. (1 French squadron retreats to closes friendly port which I guess would be Cadiz.

Also, could you please tell the names of the three cards you discarded since they would be on the top of the discard pile?

Message from France:
BR dodged a bullet with this one!

Letter of Marque discarded.

I think we are supposed to play cards like this, as a Discarded card is actually removed from the deck so it will not be shuffled in. I will go back and correct that.

Message from France:

Choose any one friendly Army (not necessarily your own). All enemy Forces adjacent to that Army suffer Attrition (except Fortress Flags and those in battle). Unoccupied enemy Duchies adjacent to that Army also check for Attrition and are flagged by that Army if they fail. Voided by Form Square.

Message from France:
Per email direction, the 2 AU SP retreat to Linz (now7)

Turkey is up next and plays this for 3 CP:

1-2) flag Vienna and then flag Prague.

TU up 2 keys to 9 and AU down 2 keys to 5.

3) Flag Sevestapol. Since TU only has7 flags and no new ones can be made per 2.2, pull the flag from Banar and place it in Sevestapol.

TU up 1 key to 10 and RU down 1 key to 6.

The RU squadron is forced into the Black Sea per 13.9, and may not evade if intercepted. That role next.

305 3/1/2019 9:56:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message Yes, there was a TU formation there during the attrition phase at the end of 1805 and the unit survived, so Odessa became became flagged at that point.
304 3/1/2019 9:30:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Move looks oK, but I didn't have Odessa flagged for turkey. Is this correct?

303 3/1/2019 10:06:00 AM 1807-1808 France Message RU SP in Sevestapol eliminated. RU Fleet remains in the space is not flagged yet and TU has run out of CPs.

I will pause there before going on to Prussia in case I made an error or you have reaction cards to play.

TU 2SP+1Leader=3
RU 1SP+1Nationality=2

Janissaries still in effect.

301 3/1/2019 9:57:00 AM 1807-1808 France Message OK, that time it worked!

Both side lose 1 SP but as the attacker I cause a disrupt thus barely winning the battle. You may designate the retreat of your 2 SP while Yusuf and his 2SP remain in Vienna.

TU move continues with the remain 3 CP:

2) Flag Kershon RU

3) Ali Paha and his 2SP move into Khershon.

4) attack Sevestapol...BD to follow.

Message from France:
Yusuf the Hero roll!
298 3/1/2019 9:48:00 AM 1807-1808 France France: Play Strategy card as Event #97: 3 / Hero
After seeing all Battle dice, select any one leader (with the owner's consent) who has not already been eliminated by a 6 to roll two dice to alter the battle outcome thus: 6 - eliminated enemy Unit, 5 - disrupt enemy Unit, 4 - rally friendly Unit, 1 - eliminate that leader, Doubles - may also void Rout.

Message from France:
Yusuf will now become a Hero! 2 dice to follow per the event.

Of course you may have response cards to play as well.
297 3/1/2019 9:46:00 AM 1807-1808 France Message Both sides lose 1 down to 3 SP.

France will now play a response card to influence the battle.

Battle of Vienna:

TU BD 4SP+1Leader=5
AU BD 4SP+1Nationality=5

AU Disrupts due not count due to Janissaries.
295 3/1/2019 9:39:00 AM 1807-1808 France Message 4 total CPs for the Turkish special move:

1) Yusuf takes his 4 SP in Budapest and attacks the 4 AU SP in Vienna.

In the interest of time, I will assume you will not evade in order to protect the capital and that there are no BC for either side. We can always go back if needed.

Message from France:
Turkish CP for this round are this die roll +3.
293 3/1/2019 9:31:00 AM 1807-1808 France Turkey: Play Strategy card as Event #911: 5 / Ottoman Turks
You have CPs equal to a die roll. Turkish Units cannot be disrupted in the first round of any battle fought in this Impulse. OR 1 CP and draw a card. RESERVE

Message from France:
Turkish Reserve event. Die roll to follow for extra CP.
292 3/1/2019 9:30:00 AM 1807-1808 France Turkey: Play Strategy card as Event #8: 4 / Steal a March
This nation may Preempt unless doing so would give it consecutive Impulses. It may even Preempt an announced Preemption. It may spend 3 CP with this event in addition to possibly playing its Reserve. Not playable in 1805.

Message from France:
Turkey will Preempt Prussia and play it's reserve as well for the event. So Turkey will have 3 CP plus a die roll and will avoid disruptions in the first round of battle per its Reserve event.
291 2/26/2019 11:37:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message OK, spend the last 2 CP to build 1 SP at Vienna.

Vienna now has 4 SP there.

Austria move over, now Prussia.

290 2/26/2019 11:13:00 AM 1807-1808 France Message Looks correct...nicely played! You may proceed with the rest of your move. I think you have used 2 CP so far.
289 2/26/2019 10:29:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Austria: Play Strategy card as Event #33: 3 / General's Health
Void the Battle Rating of any Commander for the rest of this Impulse (including its effect on any just-rolled intercept or evasion attempt). Subordinate Army Commanders may not substitute their rating for the stricken leader. Not applicable to the Nelson event or to rerolls of battle dice.

Message from Britain:
OK, If I'm reading this correctly this means that Davout cannot use his battle rating for the interception. Which means you get +1 instead of +4. This will mean no interception.

Let me know if this is correct. It seems so.

Message from France:
Sounds good. Davout and his whole Army Group will try and intercept the move into Munich. He has Lannes +11SP with him.

He has a +4 modifier, so need a 5 or better. If successful, over to you to first declare any Battle Events per 11.1, then back to me for the same.
287 2/25/2019 4:21:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Ok, let the move stand as per this correction.

Kutusov, Bennigston, 5 SP, Ferdinand and 4 SP move to Munich

Leave 5 SP Austrian at Linz

286 2/25/2019 1:27:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Message Don't understand your statement about Russian's NOT being able to move Austrian units. Don't they form an army group, but then spend 2 CP per space entered. If a combined force of Russians and Austrians cannot move together then there are definitely things about this game that I don't understand.

285 2/24/2019 5:03:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message This move is not entirely accurate, as per 9.1 the Russian Commanders may not move AU SP, and Ferdinad can only command 4 SP, so the other 5 AU SP would have to remain in Linz.

Do you want to proceed with the smaller force or adjust your CP expenditures some?
284 2/24/2019 12:58:00 PM 1807-1808 Britain Russia: Play Strategy card as Operations #94: 4 / Early Snowfall
Playable only as a nation's last card. All card CP values (except those generated by events) are reduced by one. Announced CP expenditures which cannot be completed as a result of snowfall are forfeit. Extended Campaign event may not occur during this event. Ends Mud event.

Message from Britain:
Move Kutusov and his combined army to Munich. Davout could intercept.

Kutusov has: Bennigsen and 5 Russian SP with Ferdinand and 9 SP.

283 2/24/2019 12:12:00 PM 1807-1808 France Message France will not preempt Russia.
282 2/24/2019 9:53:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message To France, just in case she wants to pre-empt.

281 2/24/2019 9:52:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Austria: Play Strategy card as Operations #78: 3 / Turncoats
Enemy suffers Attrition before battle. Leaders are not subject to this Attrition even if being used as Units. Each enemy loss gives you one extra battle die throughout the upcoming battle.

Message from Britain:
Move 4 SP from Vienna to join Charles at Dalmatia.

VENICE: 3 SP

DALMATIA: Charles, John and 11 SP.

Austria done
280 2/24/2019 9:47:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message Adjusting Keys. French move down to 15, British up to 6.

279 2/24/2019 9:47:00 AM 1807-1808 Britain Message French unit destroyed. Spending another CP to remove the French flag. (2 CP left out of the original 6)

Complete and remove the 2 refit markers on the fleets in Cornwall and Sussex.

CORNWALL: 1 fleet in port

SUSSEX: 1 fleet in port and 1 SP

British move over
