39 2/16/2019 8:40:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message I had already added in your MSPs for each of UK, France and the USSR. That's done for all countries all in the same phase at the beginning of the turn. Also by the way, you can't ever stack 3 Surf Support units in one port.

It's actually up to your Allied player turn portion of Turn 2. Your strategic naval moves for Turn 2 were not going to affect my player turn so I had gone ahead and done my player turn.
38 2/15/2019 3:54:00 AM Turn 2 Simon Message finally done

37 2/15/2019 3:51:00 AM Turn 2 Simon Message ignore my last message

36 2/15/2019 3:48:00 AM Turn 2 Simon Message am I correct in saying I don't need a naval unit to STRATEGICALLY move a unit via sea.
35 2/10/2019 2:31:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message As taking care of your strat naval moves wouldn't affect my turn because I'm not moving out to sea, I went ahead with my turn. New file uploaded.
34 2/10/2019 1:03:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message Unsuccessful but will put the +1 Axis Dip marker on Romania's marker on the chart.
33 2/10/2019 1:02:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Die roll request Request: 10-sided die x 1

Message from Jon:
...and here's the roll for the attempt.
32 2/10/2019 1:02:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message Figuring no need to wait on the strat move question as I'm not putting out to sea, I'm going on to my turn. In the Org phase here is a roll for a diplomacy attempt on Romania, spending 5 MSP. So only on a '1' for now.
31 2/10/2019 12:18:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message I don't follow the UK moves exactly. Looks like one Surf that was in the North Sea RTB'ed to Bristol. Bristol is not on the North Sea though so the ship can't RTB there. Can only go to London, Newcastle or Scapa Flow as the only currently friendly ports available on the North Sea.

Also, there is still the Surf face up out in the North Atlantic. Are you indicating that he was to RTB end of last turn and then go back out to the N. Atlantic? If so, then he'd be face down by the way.
30 2/9/2019 6:04:00 PM Turn 2 Simon Message Allied naval done
29 2/6/2019 4:18:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Message Axis initiative again, so I'll send back for the Allies to put out any ships to sea first.
28 2/6/2019 4:18:00 AM Turn 2 Jon Die roll request Request: 10-sided die x 1

Message from Jon:
Rolling for initiative in the Strat Naval Phase, Axis die first. We both have a +1 DRM so they make no practical difference to the result.
26 2/6/2019 4:16:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Change game turn Game turn changed to Turn 2
25 2/3/2019 2:41:00 PM Turn 1 Simon Message Ive returned my corps home as the navy wasn't in place. I made a deliberate decision NOT to do diplomacy right or wrong but thanks for Alerting me. I just assumed we were at war but if I have to pay the 50 I wont bother more capitulation from the west.
24 2/2/2019 9:30:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message Ok, great. Appreciate the willingness to use them. Any feedback on the file I uploaded? Shall we go on to Turn 2 then?
23 1/31/2019 10:45:00 AM Turn 1 Simon Message Iím not bothered about balance just what makes the game more interesting so if you recommend these letís go for them
22 1/31/2019 9:18:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message Hi Simon. Will load up a file momentarily that includes a number of things I've mentioned on your turn. Please take a look.

And quite sorry to mention this right after starting the game but I had completely forgotten to bring up Optionals. In the past after having played several games, I found the following to be all good additions/changes to the game in my estimation:

23.1 (more pro-Allied - very valuable to them later on)
23.2 (usually more pro-Axis, although not necessarily depending on player styles)
23.5 (pro-Axis - although it doesn't come up much)
23.6 (pro-Allied - prevents all of Vichy all over the map from immediately going 'German Ally' when only a FR possession, e.g. Syria, is attacked)
23.7 (more pro-Axis, particularly b/c of the Med., but again, not necessarily)
23.10 (pro-Allied - this one's a real 'biggie' for them)

If you're amenable, would like to add these to our game. What do you think?

And just to mention in case you were wondering, I very much dislike 23.3, don't know what to make of 23.4, think 23.8 is wholly unnecessary extra work, recommend against 23.9 as I believe it would really hurt the USSR, and think 23.11 is pointless.

Regards,
Jon

Message from Jon:
In the follow-up combat phase now. Army stack that advanced into 2126 attacking Warsaw as only attack of this phase. It contains at least one armor so the stack may attack.

Rolling both dice for the air combat over Warsaw. Axis first on the +2, followed by Allies on the -2

For the Axis combat phase, first attack is 2027 on 2126. Rolling on +7...
13 1/27/2019 7:07:00 AM Turn 1 Simon Message no commitment at the time. Thanks for the step walk through much appreciated. Nothing changed so no new file added.

To save time it will come as no surprise that the airforce is being saved for the Battle for Warsaw, so no commitment until then, but you can commit it for that
12 1/25/2019 6:50:00 PM Turn 1 Jon Message Back to you for a decision on committing the Polish air support unit in defense of any one of 3 attacks, or holding it back for now.
11 1/25/2019 6:24:00 PM Turn 1 Jon Message Success. Will be taking care of that in the Vassal file. Will also then be doing my actions up until I need to send it back to you for any Allied decisions. Should be when I get to actual combat and you'll have to decide on committing your Polish air or holding it back for a following phase.

Message from Jon:
Going through the Axis player turn. I'm now spending 5 MSP for a diplomatic action on Hungary. They are currently at G3, so looking for a 3 or less to move them to ally status.
9 1/25/2019 5:32:00 AM Turn 1 Simon Message Back to you for naval positioning
8 1/22/2019 8:02:00 PM Turn 1 Jon Message So I have initiative and I will you must decide on putting your naval support out first. Will upload a new file.

Message from Jon:
I've started Turn 1 in Vassal and coming over here to ACTS to roll for initiative in the Strategic Naval Phase. We're technically still at peace so there will be no combat to resolve but I'm thinking it's worthwhile to run through the Sequence of Play fully at this point for your benefit.

So 2x rolls here for initiative in this phase. First roll will be for the Axis. Axis roll is modified by +1 DRM for GE Sub Tech level and Allied roll is also modified by +1 DRM for UK Surf Tech level, so it's a 'wash' basically. Higher die wins initiative and decides who puts naval support units out first...
6 1/22/2019 3:42:00 PM Turn 1 Simon Message Set up looks fine . I think that makes us good to go
5 1/22/2019 10:23:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message Finished my setup and am sending back for you to check before we actually start into the game.

On the file numbering by the way, would it be ok if we incremented the 1-up file counter at the start of the file name every time there's a new file, including corrections? For example, your last file with the corrected setup would be '003' and then my file showing Axis setup would be '004'.
4 1/22/2019 3:28:00 AM Turn 1 Simon Message Thanks for that. Happy to be corrected (and will need to be often) otherwise I will not learn the game.

Corrected file uploaded
3 1/21/2019 5:55:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message Hi Simon,

Two things to mention on your setup. When setting up any Minor Nation such as Poland all their land units have to start in or adjacent to a city (please see 16.1.1).

[I hope you don't mind the rules citations, by the way. Just wanting to make sure to draw your attention to where the relevant information can be found.]

Also for Poland specifically, all their units must be begin in Western Poland, i.e. they can't be East across the Nazi-Soviet Pact line (17.11).

The other thing to mention is really very small, but when setting up the Major Powers all the land units have to start one per hex (19.1) Only exceptions to this are the 3x Maginot Line hexes (this exception is mentioned under the "France" section of the setup), and Gibraltar whose setup specifies 2 units. Each of those hexes can each have one land unit in addition to the fort. Anyway, I saw in both London and Moscow there are two units. It's really a small issue but thought it worth mentioning nonetheless as you're playing this game for the first time.

Jon
2 1/17/2019 6:47:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message I uploaded a first file for our game. Basically just starting up, but I did take care of my HQ draws. You'll need to do your HQ draws and then over set up all your countries, including Poland.

I used a file naming scheme with a 3-digit, 1-up serialization at the beginning if that's ok with you.
1 1/17/2019 4:59:00 AM Turn 1 Jon Message Here is our new, generic module in ACTS.
