It's actually up to your Allied player turn portion of Turn 2. Your strategic naval moves for Turn 2 were not going to affect my player turn so I had gone ahead and done my player turn.

Bristol is not on the North Sea though so the ship can't RTB there. Can only go to London, Newcastle or Scapa Flow as the only currently friendly ports available on the North Sea.

Also, there is still the Surf face up out in the North Atlantic. Are you indicating that he was to RTB end of last turn and then go back out to the N. Atlantic? If so, then he'd be face down by the way.

And quite sorry to mention this right after starting the game but I had completely forgotten to bring up Optionals. In the past after having played several games, I found the following to be all good additions/changes to the game in my estimation:

23.1 (more pro-Allied - very valuable to them later on)
23.2 (usually more pro-Axis, although not necessarily depending on player styles)
23.5 (pro-Axis - although it doesn't come up much)
23.6 (pro-Allied - prevents all of Vichy all over the map from immediately going 'German Ally' when only a FR possession, e.g. Syria, is attacked)
23.7 (more pro-Axis, particularly b/c of the Med., but again, not necessarily)
23.10 (pro-Allied - this one's a real 'biggie' for them)

If you're amenable, would like to add these to our game. What do you think?

And just to mention in case you were wondering, I very much dislike 23.3, don't know what to make of 23.4, think 23.8 is wholly unnecessary extra work, recommend against 23.9 as I believe it would really hurt the USSR, and think 23.11 is pointless.

I've started Turn 1 in Vassal and coming over here to ACTS to roll for initiative in the Strategic Naval Phase. We're technically still at peace so there will be no combat to resolve but I'm thinking it's worthwhile to run through the Sequence of Play fully at this point for your benefit.

So 2x rolls here for initiative in this phase. First roll will be for the Axis. Axis roll is modified by +1 DRM for GE Sub Tech level and Allied roll is also modified by +1 DRM for UK Surf Tech level, so it's a 'wash' basically. Higher die wins initiative and decides who puts naval support units out first...

On the file numbering by the way, would it be ok if we incremented the 1-up file counter at the start of the file name every time there's a new file, including corrections? For example, your last file with the corrected setup would be '003' and then my file showing Axis setup would be '004'.

Two things to mention on your setup. When setting up any Minor Nation such as Poland all their land units have to start in or adjacent to a city (please see 16.1.1).

[I hope you don't mind the rules citations, by the way. Just wanting to make sure to draw your attention to where the relevant information can be found.]

Also for Poland specifically, all their units must be begin in Western Poland, i.e. they can't be East across the Nazi-Soviet Pact line (17.11).

The other thing to mention is really very small, but when setting up the Major Powers all the land units have to start one per hex (19.1) Only exceptions to this are the 3x Maginot Line hexes (this exception is mentioned under the "France" section of the setup), and Gibraltar whose setup specifies 2 units. Each of those hexes can each have one land unit in addition to the fort. Anyway, I saw in both London and Moscow there are two units. It's really a small issue but thought it worth mentioning nonetheless as you're playing this game for the first time.

I used a file naming scheme with a 3-digit, 1-up serialization at the beginning if that's ok with you.
