593 4/10/2019 9:47:00 PM 203-201 BC Rome Message Thanks it was a really fun game. Things really snowballed after Hannibal got his "I came to Italy card..." twice in the first two turns. I figured the first battle was a good risk to take because Hannibal would have been eliminated but it didn't payoff when Paulus took maximum casualties.

After that, I think I averaged ~5 PCs lost/turn which is not at all sustainable so a minor miracle I made it to Turn 9 (that's basically a Messenger Intercepted every turn). I did catch two very lucky breaks when Fabius defeated Hannibal and with Hannibal's sea-phobia, but in both cases I also needed follow-up luck with Hannibal's escape rolls and the Syracuse siege.
592 4/10/2019 6:19:00 PM 203-201 BC Carthage Message Thanks for a good game. I couldn't have matched another FR, so the battle definitely could have gone either way, but with five DEs I didn't have much choice on what to use.
Don't really know what you could have done differently - I was just trying to keep you busy so you could never mount an expedition to Spain or Africa. I thought the tide might have turned when Hannibal rolled 6 twice in a row trying to sail to Italy, but things went my way anyway.
My reward for winning is playing James Pei next, so I'm not sure that's that great a deal, but at least it's double elimination.
Good luck in your next game - perhaps we'll meet again on the cardboard battlefield!
591 4/10/2019 5:59:00 PM 203-201 BC Rome Message Canít match ó only had the one reserve.

The writing has been on the wall for a good while and needed something to go Romeís way. Iím resigning at this point. Good luck in the next game!

Best,
Dan

524 4/3/2019 10:27:00 PM 206-204 BC Rome Message The Roman Senate would welcome the Carthaginians staying in Carthage (or Africa). The Senate's thinking is the cause of this unfortunate war was the hordes of Carthaginians crossing mountains and seas to invade fair Italia.

522 4/3/2019 4:51:00 PM 206-204 BC Carthage Message You were correct - both lose one on the attrition table and then Mago loses the other two on the retreat.

520 4/3/2019 11:58:00 AM 206-204 BC Rome Message Not looking at table but I think Scipio and Mago both lose 1 CU (double-check this) then Mago loses 2 CUs in retreat so heís officially on vacation. Carthage to decide on 1 PC loss.
