5 2/14/2019 4:37:00 PM August 1914 Allies Message Hi Ron. Good luck to you and look forward to a good game. I am from the USA originally, living in the UK outside of London now.

Anyway happy with historical scenario and supply warnings. I do not use Vassal, just Cyberboard, and prefer not to swap files as only rarely have I had sync problems that had much effect on the game. I find the biggest sync problems tend to be with corps, I find it helpful if we both confirm the number of corps in reserve after any corps goes in or out. Also, as the attacker declares the odds and the defender rolls the dice, I also find it helpful if the odds are not accurate, please confirm before rolling.

Anyway, I hope that is OK with you.
4 2/12/2019 2:30:00 PM August 1914 Central Powers Message 1. Introduce yourselves and set expectations regarding your availability and game pace.

My name is Ron Stockfleth. I live in Germany between Aachen, Koblenz, Essen. I started playing PoG about 19 years ago mainly PBEM via ACTS. I have probably played about 25 games.
I should usually be able to take 2 actions per day (one in the morning, one in the evening), so one turn per week should be doable.

2. Agree on the scenario. The default is the WBC Historical Scenario as described on the POG Tournament Page and I recommend you stick to that if either player is 'new'.

I like this historical scenario, so I would just stick with the default for this tournament.

3. Agree on usage of supply warnings. They are strongly recommended.

Fine with me, I will send OOS warning and expect the same in return then.

4. There is no mandatory usage of a particular PBEM tool. VASSAL is recommended but not necessary and exchanging game logs is also optional.

I played online via VASSAL, but I never used it for PBEM. Personally I find it very attractive to exchange boards. You make sure that you look at the same board as the opponent then. I would like to go with VASSAL.

5. Bid for sides. For this tournament, initial bid is by random roll, which follows this intro. Once this is done, switch sides in ACTS if necessary.

As I wrote, one turn per week should be doable for me. That should not stall the tournament.

2 2/10/2019 3:35:00 PM August 1914 Moderator Message Welcome to Round One of the BPA VIII Paths of Glory Tournament!

I'll be your game moderator and should be your first point of contact for any issues related to this match. As always, the priority should be for a fun and fair match for all involved. The official launch date for this round is February 14th, 2019 but feel free to start your match immediately. Round 1 concludes on Wednesday, June 19, 2019; you'll have 125 days this round.

Contacting me: I am based in Texas (US CST, GMT -6) and will generally respond to all match questions within 24 hours. I strongly recommend you e-mail me directly at "mdauer92@yahoo.com" referencing your match # when you do so. If I do not respond within 48 hours, please escalate to one of the other GMs (gregorit@yahoo.com or paulhubbard@hotmail.co.uk). If I am going to be unavailable for more than 48 hours, I will alert you ahead of time.

Issue Resolution: If either player has a concern about a particular ruling or resolution I make, feel free to raise it to the other GMs. I will also reach out to Paul and Tom if there's something I'm not sure of. Please remember that the ACTS logs are viewable for all, direct e-mail exchanges with your opponent are obviously permitted but GMs will view the ACTS logs as the authoritative record of the game.

Getting Started:
Here are my thoughts on how to get the match started:
- Introduce yourselves and set expectations regarding your availability and game pace.
- Agree on the scenario. The default is the WBC Historical Scenario as described on the POG Tournament Page and I strongly recommend its usage.
- Agree on usage of supply warnings. They are strongly recommended.
- There is no mandatory usage of a particular PBEM tool. VASSAL is recommended but not necessary and exchanging game logs is also optional.
- Bid for sides. (Initial bidder is to be random, one of you should just roll a die with a 50-50 shot of that player bidding first. Switch sides in ACTS if necessary, contact me if you need help with this.
- Draw cards. CP will then kick off the fun by rolling the turn 1 MO and playing their first card.

Have fun!

Michael Dauer
