27 2/13/2019 1:50:00 PM August 1914 Allies Message So far, the dice are going my way: RU3 advances into Tarnopol.
26 2/13/2019 1:48:00 PM August 1914 Allies Message Hi Ken. Sorry about not being clear on the first combat, and thanks for being cool about it.

I will continue to roll the attacker first for every combat. I will generally just cut and paste what you wrote, and roll. Iíd appreciate it if your instructions would include the combat columns, so I can check to make sure we are on the same page before I roll. I will always roll two dice unless it is a flank attack. If I ever roll just one die for a non-flank attack, that was a mistake and I will re-roll both dice. For flank attacks, I roll one die at a time.

I generally donít exchange boards, but will if you want to. Itís a long game, and we are bound to make a couple of board errors. I have no interest in winning because of a board error, and would be happy to try to work around one if something comes up.

3 2/10/2019 7:13:00 PM August 1914 Allies Message Hi Ken.

Tom let me know that you had not received my sign up for the WBC this year, though you had gotten the payment. I sent it again today. Hopefully, it worked this time.

For this game, I suggest that we play with the historical rules and supply warnings. Is that OK with you? If so, please roll to see who bids first. Thanks!

1 2/10/2019 1:45:00 PM August 1914 Moderator Message Welcome to Round One of the BPA VIII Paths of Glory Tournament!

I'll be your game moderator and should be your first point of contact for any issues related to this match. As always, the priority should be for a fun and fair match for all involved. The official launch date for this round is February 14th, 2019 but feel free to start your match immediately. Round 1 concludes on Wednesday, June 19, 2019; you'll have 125 days this round.

Contacting me: I am based in Texas (US CST, GMT -6) and will generally respond to all match questions within 24 hours. I strongly recommend you e-mail me directly at "mdauer92@yahoo.com" referencing your match # when you do so. If I do not respond within 48 hours, please escalate to one of the other GMs (gregorit@yahoo.com or paulhubbard@hotmail.co.uk). If I am going to be unavailable for more than 48 hours, I will alert you ahead of time.

Issue Resolution: If either player has a concern about a particular ruling or resolution I make, feel free to raise it to the other GMs. I will also reach out to Paul and Tom if there's something I'm not sure of. Please remember that the ACTS logs are viewable for all, direct e-mail exchanges with your opponent are obviously permitted but GMs will view the ACTS logs as the authoritative record of the game.

Getting Started:
Here are my thoughts on how to get the match started:
- Introduce yourselves and set expectations regarding your availability and game pace.
- Agree on the scenario. The default is the WBC Historical Scenario as described on the POG Tournament Page and I strongly recommend its usage.
- Agree on usage of supply warnings. They are strongly recommended.
- There is no mandatory usage of a particular PBEM tool. VASSAL is recommended but not necessary and exchanging game logs is also optional.
- Bid for sides. (Initial bidder is to be random, one of you should just roll a die with a 50-50 shot of that player bidding first. Switch sides in ACTS if necessary, contact me if you need help with this.
- Draw cards. CP will then kick off the fun by rolling the turn 1 MO and playing their first card.

Have fun!

Michael Dauer
