Flank attempt at +1.
I'll let you check everything up to now, roll the flank attempt, and roll for the attack. If I fail the flank and take 3 hits, flip GE1.

7 2/12/2019 9:27:00 PM August 1914 Central Powers Message Hi Dominic. I fall in the same category as you. Pretty experienced but haven't played in awhile.
I agree with all your procedures. Like you, I'll try my best, but am looking for a fun game.

Bid 1 for the AP, you say. Hmmm. Guess you can have them. It's a weak alliance anyway. I'll draw card and let you do the same. Then let the game begin.

I'm based outside of Boston, so about 6 hours behind you?

3 2/12/2019 5:25:00 AM August 1914 Allies Message Hi Andy,

I don't think we have played before so nice to meet you.

I am based in Sweden (but am not Swedish!) so GMT+1

I have played a bit of PoG 9although not for some time now) and would describe myself as fairly experienced.

In terms of the game, I prefer not to exchange move files but to make sure that everything is clearly written in the ACTS log. The big one for me is the tracking of the Corps in the RB. I am fine we takebacks provided that no dice are rolled and when it comes to combat, I suggest that the attacker clearly states the odds as he sees them and then let's the defender check them and roll if the numbers match. If they don't match the defender should clarify with the attacker before rolling.

I know this is a tournament but I aim to have fun.

I do give supply warnings (move-related ones) and would prfefer that you did but that is up to you.

Think that is everything so I will go ahead and roll for the bid and we can get the war under way.

Cheers,

Dominic

1 2/11/2019 8:03:00 PM August 1914 Moderator Message Welcome to Round One of the BPA VIII Paths of Glory Tournament!

I'll be your game moderator and should be your first point of contact for any issues related to this match. As always, the priority should be for a fun and fair match for all involved. The official launch date for this round is February 14th, 2019 but feel free to start your match immediately. Round 1 concludes on Wednesday, June 19, 2019; you'll have 125 days this round.

Contacting me: I am based in the UK (GMT 0) and will generally respond to all match questions within 24 hours. I strongly recommend you e-mail me directly at "paulhubbard@hotmail.co.uk" referencing your match # when you do so. If I do not respond within 48 hours, please escalate to one of the other GMs (mdauer92@yahoo.com or gregorit@yahoo.com).

Issue Resolution: If either player has a concern about a particular ruling or resolution I make, feel free to raise it to the other GMs. I will also reach out to Tom and Michael if there's something I'm not sure of. Please remember that the ACTS logs are viewable for all, direct e-mail exchanges with your opponent are obviously permitted but GMs will view the ACTS logs as the authoritative record of the game.

Getting Started:
Here are my thoughts on how to get the match started:
- Introduce yourselves and set expectations regarding your availability and game pace.
- Agree on the scenario. The default is the WBC Historical Scenario as described on the POG Tournament Page and I strongly recommend its usage.
- Agree on usage of supply warnings. They are strongly recommended.
- There is no mandatory usage of a particular PBEM tool. VASSAL is recommended but not necessary and exchanging game logs is also optional.
- Bid for sides. (Initial bidder is to be random, one of you should just roll a die with a 50-50 shot of that player bidding first. Switch sides in ACTS if necessary, contact me if you need help with this.
- Draw cards. CP will then kick off the fun by rolling the turn 1 MO and playing their first card.

Have fun!

Paul Hubbard
