76 3/16/2019 11:41:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message We can restart. When I played CSA I was very aware of the vulnerability of Columbus and Ft Jackson in the first two turns. I just wanted to see if it could be done. It sure could.

72 3/16/2019 9:42:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #105: 1 / Detached Cavalry
Played prior to a battle against an army possessing one or more cavalry brigades. The ONLY effects are the Army’s Commanding General’s battle rating (offense or defense) is immediately reduced by 2 and no Cavalry general’s battle ratings may be used in the battle. The effects end at the conclusion of the battle. Cavalry generals are not available for casualty determination. OR: Place one PC marker in any space within four spaces (includes river connections) of a single cavalry brigade. The four space range many not be traced through Northeast Alabama. The space may not contain an enemy SP or fort, but may contain an Ironclad or Torpedoes.

56 3/14/2019 2:21:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Play Strategy card as Operations #26: 3 / Cotton is King
If played by Union, reduce Confederate SW by 2; if played by Confederate, Confederate immediately receives two SPs in any Blockade Runner port, no more than one SP per port, but more than 1SP per Blockade zone is permitted. If insufficient ports are available, the excess SPs are lost. Remove from deck if event is played.

54 3/14/2019 9:37:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Anyway, I found a BGG-tread mentioning designated general so I guess it is somewhere in the rules. Amazing how the perspective changes when chanigng sides ;-)

Well, your spies notice a slow buildup of supplies and men in Bloomingdale/ton NW of Kentucky. Halleck or the other guy, whomever has the highest ranking (I remember them as having equal stats, but I am away from my PC)
53 3/14/2019 9:24:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Where do you find that rule?

52 3/14/2019 8:58:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message apparently when you start a que you have to designate a general. who will you que up (i think i played that wrong before)
51 3/14/2019 4:49:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message And you only lose 1, not 2 sw when losing a fort (just reread rule 12.11). I think I deducted 2 sw from you in both Ft Jackson and Columbus, so you get 2 sw back...

47 3/13/2019 7:18:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Message I am playing with my head under my shoulder at the moment. We are selling the house, I am six work days from ending my current job and very busy finishing my projects, so I am lousy ar reading the cards...

You are right. No control in Memphis. Should have followed my impulse and crossed into Misouri when the Dover raid was negated. Well, 2 SP to be placed just north of Cairo instead of Memphis

And before you say anything... with the heavy real life work load and real life worries about moving messing up my head, I do need the respite, so I don’t mind losing or messing up at the moment as long as I can have some fun gaming. So let’s just game and I hope you don’t mind too much that I read the cards wrong etc.
46 3/13/2019 1:27:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message dont think memphis is friendly for your yet..you havnt placed a control marker in it so i dont think you can get dudes in there
45 3/13/2019 12:05:00 PM Summer 1861 Union Play Strategy card as Event #40: 3 / Emergency Call for Volunteers
Union receives five SPs, no more than two SPs in any space. Placement spaces must be friendly controlled, have a LOC and be free of Confederate SPs or forts.

Message from Union:
Better call in some extra (river)men
44 3/13/2019 10:44:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message so you dont get MS river bonus yet...you have to take dover (there are several spaces that have port symbol of different color on map to signify this) and the areas you nened to control are in rule book too...anyways ended up in mckenzi.

now i didnt know about this MS river bonus specification about spaces either until i looked at rules..if that will affect your play, im happy if you wish to redo the move as a whole since we just started round and i dont think itll affect anything really...up to you just let me know

41 3/13/2019 10:28:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message I'll drop 1 SP of in Columbus and end in Memphis with the last as both are in supply via the river

Buell and 1 SP stays at home in Cairo, missing all the fun

Forgot that they should be of equal value to start. I just read the second part where Buell as senior would take over the moment the activation ended. Well, Union has its rules and CSA has most of the fun
40 3/13/2019 9:50:00 AM Summer 1861 Confederate Message so when you attacked, you cant bring buell..he has a higher P rating...so he has to stay behind and would have to leave an SP with him as he cant be left alone (5.34). so you attack initially with 5 SP, lose 2 and then attack and lose another 1 so you have 2 SP left...where would you like to drop one off then as cant do both spaces
39 3/13/2019 3:57:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message 1*vs1, * let Union win. Polk to track. The Union forces backtrack to Columbus, leave 1 SP in Columbus, 1 SP in Humboldt and finally returns to Memphis with the last 1 SP and the generals

Please correct in your file, also you didn't lose 2 SW from the Dover-fort and I didn't get 1 sw. bty

Yea, I got so infused with the "I can cross the rivers as I want"-union rule, that I totally forgot the rule about not entering a fort directly...

CSA: +2 from Union OOS

36 3/12/2019 8:18:00 PM Summer 1861 Confederate Message so you cant attack dover that way...i have a fort there and you are crossing a river to get to it..only way dover can be attacked is from clarksville TN or via river assault...would you like to redo your move?
35 3/12/2019 4:48:00 AM Summer 1861 Union Message Pope leave 1 SP in Dover and retreats to Paducah to rest and resupply. In Paducah Buell as higher ranking general take over command while resupplying, giving a chance to intercept should someone come calling in Dover :-)
